1953 Topps 82 Mickey Mantle for sale RAW gem
2 Attachment(s)
Up for sale is an authentic 1953 Topps 82 Mickey Mantle RAW. Centering is dead on, corners are slightly rounded, there are two chips on the outer white border, and no there was not a number 2 written on the back top right corner. That is a weird illusion from the camera I'm not an expert, but from what I've seen and researched I would imagine PSA would grade it around a 2. Pictures are attached, local pick up is preferred, but I am willing to explore safe shipping and payment options.
Asking price $1,800.00 OBO Contact Matt at mapags91@outlook.com |
PSA is NOT grading that a 4 or 5. Not with corners like that.
|
this should be in the BST...not the main page.
|
ya more likely would grade a 2
|
okay thanks i'll update

Welcome to the board. Might be easier to post an asking price than claim it's a 4-5 when it s a 2-2.5
Do you guarantee it will grade and not be altered?....hahaha...just a little off topic humor. |

Why would I alter it? My cards are genuine. Also, like I said, I'm not an expert. I'm looking to sell a nice card. I'm not claiming it's a 4-5. I will edit that to a 2-3. You guys are sensitive. If anyone is interested in making an offer please reply. Thanks.
|
The reason we're sensitive is that you're a new person nobody knows posting a card for sale on the DISCUSSION BOARD for PRE-WAR CARDS and highly overexaggerating the condition. You should be a little more apologetic. Click the red triangle button to report your own post and have it moved to the Buy/Sell/Trade section.
Or just ask the mods to delete it and start from scratch. Maybe use your first real post to introduce yourself without selling anything yet. Oh, and once you start stating any kind of opinion, you have to post your full name here.... Have a good one. Edit: and how would we do local pickup when you don't even list a location? You need some assistance learning how to sell things on the internet. |
Not here to make friends. I'm here to sell my cards. If i could edit this post I would. It's a learning curve. Chill out man.
Edit: Also, I have no desire to give out my name or location to people like you. That's my right. I'm not here to scam. I'm here to learn the forum and sell my cards. I don't quite understand the rude reception and bullying. Anyone interested will privately message me, and only then will they receive details about my items for sale and their location. Have a nice day buddy. |

eBay may be your best outlet if you don't want to "make friends". This board is community first, BST second.

When i first read the description i thought it was a joke, guess not based on replies.
|
That card will grade a 1. Maybe a 1.5 tops on a great day.
|
...and welcome to the board :)
|
Maybe GEM will grade it a 4?
|
I was away for a few hours and/or just didn't pay any attention to this thread. However, this is quite entertaining for the moment. LOL.,...
|
I think it's a nice card and I like the centering on it. I am going to say it's a '2'.
|
I agree
This was my laugh of the day. Like, amazing back and forth.
Peace and love to all and stay healthy. That's what counts. |

And as it happens....I only buy from "friends" :D |

I guess that means paying via PayPal “Friends & Family” is out for this transaction.
|
I'd like to get a look at the Jackie in the picture also. Seems to have at least one rounded corner very similar to the Mick.
|
Take it

I don't know. This could be a brilliant sales approach. How many PM's do you think he has received?
|
Yeah it's hilarious. How can I edit my post? I can't seem to find that option.

I’ll give the seller credit for accurately describing the card’s defects. However, I think a 4 to 5 grade is a little generous, assuming the card is even authentic.
I wish the seller good luck. He may have difficulty selling ungraded four figure cards without a name, location, or someone vouching for him. |
I'm just sitting here at the keyboard LMAO. Where do these people come from?

I would guess a 1.5 to 2. It's a nice looking card. Edit....didn't see the little paper loss on the border. 1 to 1.5 . |
I wanna bring the heater, and announce my presence with authority.

I might be interested but the zipper is broken on my fanny pack and I can't get to my wallet.
|
Robert Williams thanks for not being so unreasonable. The card is nice and they know it. I've looked at various PSA graded Mantle topps 82 cards and have seen 2-3 grades in far worse condition. Let's call it a 2. What is a serious buyer willing to pay for this card in your opinion?

I’m trying to unwind for the night and this thread has me cracking up. I won’t be able to sleep for an hour.

Ben I saw a PSA 2 that just sold on ebay for $1,800..
|
Should show more of that Jackie, could be a 7 or 8

Let's just say I enjoy watching you low ball me. Humor me Tyruscobb. What would you offer me if you really wanted this card?? It's really not difficult.
|
Why? From what I've read there are some buyers who prefer ungraded cards and they can still sell for what a graded card would sell for. You guys are so paranoid. Believe it or not, not everyone who comes through this forum is a scam artist. My cards are authentic. They were given to me by my grandfather.

Post some pics with prices in the BST section. If priced too low they sell within minutes. If priced properly they sell within hours. If priced to high they can be listed for years with no buyers. |
This seems like too much of a coincidence. Did these cards from from grandpa Mize?

I'm sure your grandfather would be shaking his head at your bull in the China shop approach. You might be a nice guy and a great addition to this forum but your everything is a nail approach doesn't sell well here. A bit of humility and respect goes a long way. |
Yea I did. Dean's cards wrote an article about it. Are you all affiliated with PSA or something. You guys are intense. Just trying to learn about baseball card values and how to sell. You won't discourage me. Someone wants my collection. Move along if you're not interested.

I've been respectful. If you're not interested in purchasing my cards go away.
|
Thanks Ben. I appreciate the knowledge.
|
I guess my question is why not put a price on it if your selling it ?
|
Isn't this one of the more commonly graded Mantles? Maybe not that many ungraded examples out there for sale I would guess.
Most would ask why not get it graded first? |
Quote:
Getting the card graded in today’s environment could take 6 months. If he seriously wants to sell his collection and expose it to the most bidders, he should list it on a certain auction website. That way he doesn’t have to worry about setting a price. The free market will set it for him. Alternatively, he could take pictures and post the cards on this site’s BST section. You can tell he doesn’t have much experience. This is why he can’t sell the card. He doesn’t know how to price it, and wouldn’t even know a good offer for it. He won’t accept anything less than amount no reasonable person on this site will pay. Waste of time. |
Mantle
There is a "2" written/possibly erased on the back at the top/right beside Mantle's name.
It may be the scan but that same corner looks touched up in red marker. Once again the coloring could be the scan but the 2 written/erased will make the card SGC 1.5 or a PSA 1.5 or 2 mk |
Raw: $800-$1000
Graded: $1600-1800 |

Seriously...there are a ton of buyers here(me included) but you will find that we always post prices. We get that you are new here and learning the process which is fine; we are happy to have another collector. Bottom line; just put your asking price out there and you may be surprised on the responses you get:
Also; What else is in the collection? Thanks! |

Why hasn’t this post been moved to BST yet?
Besides the fact that it is extremely entertaining. I think we should give the original poster a chance, and he has been respectful. Although I laughed at the 4-5 grade and no price. Chalk it up to a Learning curve. Also I agree post a price next time, but I don’t feel that’s a requirement. Especially if an item is rare. This 53 mantle is not. VERY hard to sell Raw online especially not from a established member with a history. GLWTS |
