Just picked this one up this morning. HNY to everyone!

Love it!! The back ad is the building I worked in these past 10 years. Despite the name it's in Chicago.

That previously undocumented BL 350 is great. Congrats.
Pulled deals for these before New Year (and two others to post later, including a previously undocumented Jennings Brown Lenox), but its now time to post them since checks have cleared and cards are in the mail. Thank You Jamie for the Mullaney. Its a total beast (the "holy grail of freaks" with multiple-overstrikes and a Cy Young ghost image), but equally important to me, its a Brown Old Mill. Thank You Jeff for parting with your Brown Old Mill. |
Cool Dizzy Dean!

I think the Mullaney & Bernhard were possibly from the same sheet. Very similar multi-strikes on back, and both are SLer on front.

Thanks Leon- it’s good to know the provenance. I am psyched to own it.
Michael, thanks for posting those pics on the other thread. Very cool to see both cards deconstructed. I do believe they go side by side on same sheet, but I won’t know until I have the Mullaney in hand. I can post pics then. |
Ryan, another incredible month. Starting the year off with a bang

T206 landslide

I don't even know where to begin with this.
Put out a request for a few remaining T-206 HOF'ers for my set last week. Two Board members offered 3 of the cards up, and I was thrilled. But just out of their desire to help a fellow collector, these deals snowballed into the largest deal I ever thought I'd do on Net54. When the smoke cleared, I was 54 cards up on my PSA 4-5 T-206 set, now standing at 442/520. Not to mention taking me from needing 38 SL'ers -- which I've always been a bit nervous about starting on -- now down to needing only 15. Everything showed up over Friday and Saturday, and it's been amazing. These board members know who they are, and I won't ever be able to possibly thank them enough! Sorry from the picture quality, but it required an aerial photo, basically :D |
442 T206s in psa 4-5 is a monumental feat. Congrats on the huge pickup!
|
Some fabulous pickups. Geez. Mine is much more subdued, but still glad to grab a D380 to continue type card run.

Thanks, Jerry. I'm having fun working on T213-3.
Dave and Jay, great cards. Those are hard to find cards. Here are 3 more new ones. The Howell I picked up b/c he is a 350 in T213-1. The other 2 are the 2 Anon backs. I try and get these b/c they are relatively cheap for what they might be, Coupon and Drum... |

only two pickups planned for January. I've decided, generally, to adjust my inclinations under the premise that everything is altered/trimmed. So I'm buying beautiful cards that already recognize this "fact" with a big "A"; or in the case of the Robinson; an item that had round corners to begin with, so it's presumably less likely to be hacked for crisp cornering.

Thanks Leon,
Yea, I jumped on it quick. I have a poor condition SGC already that has a lot of creases, this "Auth" will be a nice upgrade for me. |
Nice pick up Erick. That is a very tough card regardless of condition, and one that I think is undervalued currently; if you can, try to keep them both!

Nice Diamond Stars pick-up. That is a great set.
Next time y'all go to a show, check out 1939 Playball. They really pop in a display case as opposed to scans. PSA called the Latham "MC". I guess they thought the borders were too wide. I think they made a custom holder for the Marquard. ha-ha Credit an assist to Mr. S. Reader on the Sweeney AB, I had a bid in mind which would have lost until I used his tabulator on his T206 site. I won it at $5 more than the projected price. Thanks |
Another CATCHER pin!

I never seem to get around to sharing my pickups but I was able to add 9 more from the 1918 Zeenut set which brings me to 78 of the 104.

January Pickup Thread
This will be unlikely to turn heads substantially in this forum, but is kind of a big deal to me. My first substantial prewar pickup in quite some time. It’s hard for me to believe how much even lower grade HOF from this era has climbed in value in the past 10-20 years:

Very nice Cy Young Portrait.
Just got these in the mail. I believe the Jennings Brown Lenox is a previously uncatalogued/unconfirmed 1 of 1, and the E104-II Wagner is tough as well. |
Nice

Jason, great eye per usual.

Jesse- That green Cobb is absolutely beautiful. The colors are so vivid and the registration is perfect. Congratulations!

Chesbro
1 Attachment(s)
I rarely post but wanted to thank Kris Sweckard for selling me what I believe to be the first image of Jack Chesbro in 1897 with the Richmond Bluebirds. There is another solo cabinet of him while there, but this one is definitively from his 1st year. Also pictured is a young Kid Elberfeld.
|
Outstanding cabinet!
|
Richmond RPPC
Please store my screen name in case you ever wanted to sell that beauty. A friend of mine has a cabinet photo of Chesbro in the Richmond uniform. It’s my holy grail as a Richmond collector.

That would be a great cabinet without those guys in it. Superb pickup!
|
Thanks Jay. The corners are definitely a 3 but the color and portrait look great in hand.

Thanks Chuck and Steve. That T215-2 McGraw is great. The Indy Brewing Brown is also a nice one. I'm looking at my T213-2 list and I still have some tough cards left. GL in the upcoming auctions, y'all.
