Nice haul!
Here's a Crawford from today's mailbag. Partial name at top. |
So you guys are who I am up against on Crawford cards! Save a few scraps for me!!! :D:D:D:D:D
Wish I was at the National to see if I could find Crawford items I don't have! |
Nice
Nice ones DJ...that Bergen is sharp...Jerry
|
I'm thinking I'm safe, and this Glasscock hasn't been tampered with. :)

I picked up the Nadja a few months ago and picked up the Newsboy today - who says you need to attend the National to buy cards at the National?

This came in the mail today. I have been waiting a long time to add one of these to my Louisiana type card collection.
I hate to mention PSA in this post, but how can we expect them to catch trimmed cards when they can't even get the name of the set right? Mothers' vs Mother's. |

Picked up the last 4 I needed for my T206 set at the National. Been collecting it with my son for the last 9 years. Started when he was 5. Many of you have helped me over the years. Thank you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Aaron, congratulations. That is a great story and a great picture. I am happy you have that with your son. I got two of my kids into collecting, but now they seem not as interested:(
One more pick-up. Super rare (pop 2, graded and I believe there is one ungraded one out there). Pretty cool PC, I think. Very psyched |

Some more M101-1s for me...

Picked up in a trade in Chicago. Two tiny dots of paper loss on an otherwise pristine back account for the grade. I don’t collect E107s, but the image of Young on this card is incredible and, much as I tried, I could not stop staring at the card.

Whoa, great Cy!
|
Thanks Jeff. My iPhone photo does not do it justice. In person the image is incredibly sharp.
|
Jay. Gorgeous.
Big congrats. Enjoy that Cy. |

You should tell your trading partner to post his pickup (s) from the trade! Cheers, Steve |
Thanks Peter.
Steve-Good to meet another, albeit a lot younger, grad from the Tute. LOL, my trading partner probably sold all the cards by now. |
WOW Jay. Totally awesome. Great looking example too. Enjoy that. However, isn’t it a little too modern for you?
|
Hey, I'm a modern guy. I go all the way to 1916.
|
Jay, great card.
|
Jay,
That's a really great card. Good job. I really enjoyed talking to you at the National as well. Kenny |
For me at least, the National is a social gathering where every once in a while you pick up a few cards. It was great to see all my hobby friends. Living on the West Coast now I don’t run into many as often as I used to, so that part of the National is really a treat.
|
Rick, Glad to see you got a card that you have waiting for.
Ryan, Great start to August, some very nice pick ups. Jay, Awesome score, that Cy is a beauty, congratulations 🍾 |
Thanks Chuck
|
Holy smokes Jay, terrific card!!!
Sorry that I somehow missed meeting you in Chicago. |
Let’s rectify that next Chicago National.

I enjoyed my trip to National -- it was nice meeting and seeing everyone that I did.
A dog obviously chewed up and spit out the BL350, but that's fine -- it was a "bargain bin" find, so for once I was rewarded for digging a little. :D |

Traded this Josh Gibson photo to Ryan Christoff a couple of years ago as part of the deal where I got the Tomas Gutierrez Oscar Charleston. Bought it back from him Friday at the National.
|
WOW Steve.
|
Kenny— Great Gibson photo!
|
Thanks Jay.

Awesome cards in the 1st week,
Ben, a bunch of nice pick ups, congrats Steve, Love the Red Cross Kenny, Love the Gibson |

Great tinker haul!!
Hopefully I will be able to upgrade this e121 ruth one day. I believe this was part of a collection of e121 cards and this was too fragile to grade, but happy nonetheless: Attachment 361399 |

Was not expecting to find this Type 1 Carl Horner Monte Cross photo - I didn't even know it existed but have been looking for it to pair with my E107 (an image I have always loved - not a new pick up). Thanks to Rhys!
|
Great pickups everyone.
Love that card Michael, very very clean. Bryan, you have some amazing items, makes me want to wander into other types :p |
Mike, Beautiful BL460, I knew you were all over it, enjoy
|
Thanks guys! I think it went rather cheap due to closing at midnight on the last (travel) day of the Nat'l. Thanks to Jamie for that theory. :)

I can never resist purchasing this card. Especially when it’s over 800 miles from Richmond and at the bottom of a T210 beater stack waiting to be rescued! I only had a couple more pickups to note but a great 2019 National nonetheless.

A couple of cards from the mailbag. The Brown is the more difficult "Chicago" with the "St. Louis" being more common...

Thanks, Jerry and Bryan.
The T213-2 Chicago Nat would have been Brown's 1916 card. He played for St, Louis Terriers in 1914 and Chicago Whales in 1915, but there is no 1915 T213-2 which shows him with a caption of "Chicago Feds" as far as I know. |

I finally got my E90-1 Young from the National. A big thanks to Cory (Addie Joss) for spotting it and arranging the purchase. I guess I've officially committed to the back run now. The T216 Kotton and E92 Nadja are going to be tough.

My low-grade pickups from the National included this 1935 Goudey Ruth for $35 and 1941 Play Ball Joe D for $22, both from the Huggins & Scott discount box.
The 1938 Greenberg & 41 Ott ($100 each) present a little nicer, yet I love all four the same. :-) |
