I got this in REA. It's the only back that I was missing, other that the Cobb that I will never own. I also have 522 fronts, and will never get a Wagner or Doyle Nat'l. So I guess I've pushed the T206 set as far as I can. But there's always back runs and subsets and unrelated cards that I want.
Still, it really feels good to "finish" the T206. :D Attachment 332876 Attachment 332877 |

Been waiting for a nice Felsch card to pop up.
|
Didn't expect to win this one, and may have to flip it, because it's probably too nice for me:

Picked up DRUM #10, thanks to Rob (RCMckenzie) who was a total class act. The Magie came from Eric (Iowadoc77), another smooth transaction with another super classy guy.
|
The Drum Major strikes again! Great pick ups Chuck.

Aaron is on it. It's actually a picture of Ray Demmitt.

Sean- congrats! I gave the Brown OM a small run early on, but let it go. Glad you got it!
(PS- a very close friend of mine got the Cobb/Cobb, so if you ever want to try to complete the back run, I think he'd sell in a few years). Chuck- great stuff! |
Thanks to Don!

Wow Chuck, awesome. Great pickups- a Drum and a Magie. Totally great. Aaron, that is a great looking CJ. Man, November is already off to a crazy good start. |
Thanks guys.... and Chuck, 10 Drums? That is amazing.

Grabbed this OJ. Has the much less commmon CF designation, which I had been looking for for a while.
|
Nice Tiernan. The CF designation was only on his scarcer 1888 cards.
|
Thanks. I've got a pose run of his cards and a few of both 1887 and 1889 on the same pose but this was the first CF card I've seen for sale.
|

New Poses: As can be seen from the Old Judge cabinet (new pose 457-7) the ball in the original photo taken of Tiernan was quite high above Tiernan. Goodwin "moved it down" to create the pose in the N172 (457-2), and "moved it down" still further to accommodate the Gypsy Queen banner in new pose 457-8.
|
Gee, thanks... I will guess/hope that 7 and 8 have not (yet) been seen on his N172 cards. Otherwise, back to the drawing board
|
LOL, your hope is correct

Thanks for the kind words, Chuck. Good luck with your T206 Drum run.
Here are a couple of new additions. People ask, how do you know what Old Judge cards to buy? I try to buy the ones that I have not seen come up for sale. |
Wow, Chuck, amazing to have Ten Drums! Which are the other nine in your collection?

Picked this up at the Shriners show this past weekend from Baggers. Excellent top-notch company who was great to deal with. The card in person isn't as fuzzy. Photo musta gotten tweaked a bit. Its an Old Judge of Joe Hornung graded SGC 4

So pleased to add this beauty of a Matty to my T206 HOF collection. First card I've purchased from a fellow board member. Thanks Mike! |

I picked up my first Bregstone PC in the recent REA Auction. Always wanted one of these. Sadly, I'm guessing the numerous Bregstone's in the auction came from Brian Campf's (SportingOregon's) estate. He had quite a collection of these rare cards (amongst many others). It'll be interesting to see if somebody breaks up the 20 lot group and the 17 lot group that were in the auction.

Tim posted this in his cut art thread, but I'm happy to post it here as my pickup this month. :)
Green Cobbs may be hot, but the bat off has the most stunning background, and Tim really nailed Cobb's eyes on this one! |
tim's work is amazing
|
Too damn cool Steve!

still working on my NY Highlanders registry set, this is my 3rd Charles Bray pedigree too.

Just got this from REA. Really psyched! Been after this for a while!

Incredible, back to back gems!
|
Hard to follow up on a Ruth rookie, but I just got my first T206 blank back...

Nice going Paul. I was a distant underbidder on that one. :)

Ryan and Paul, Congrats on those two awesome pickups

1925 Exhibit Cuyler PSA VG (mk)--not an expensive card, but not many graded out there (15 total, between PSA and SGC. A HOF rookie I've been looking for for awhile. Very, very underrated player!
Best to all, Larry |
Thanks all. Paul, totally awesome pick up. Congrats. Enjoy that sucker!

Thanks Jason, Ryan and everyone! Love the blank back T206 Tom!
|
My first Lionel Carter but a coincidence since I was just looking for a M116 Chance. The back could use a soaking but not worth ruining the provenance.

Very happy with my pick up of this Cobb in REA, Lot #315. I chose it over other Red Cobbs in the auction for its clarity in his eyes and face....(and of course its affordability!) Unfortunately, my scanner doesn't do the card justice here though!
Feels great to try to get back into the hobby a little after a long time being away from the board! Beautiful pick ups by everybody this month, as usual, love seeing everyone's passions on display! Tim Kindler |
One of my favorite cards from any set, any era when it comes to pure aesthetics. I do believe, and I'm sure this has been discussed somewhere on the forum before, that the Jordan in question is actually Tim Jordan. The cool back stamp was an added bonus.

Love that Ty Cobb art piece! Tim Carroll's N162s and T206s are gorgeous.
Here is Studio Proof (REA win) and N333 of Joe Driscoll, pitcher for Albany Daily Press and Knickerbocker Newsboy Team. This is the second time I've been able to match a Studio Proof with N333 card. The images are light but I'll take what I can get. |

Finally picked up a green Cobb. Been looking for a low grade example with nice eye appeal for a while.

Beautiful Cobbie Greg!! Looks great for the grade!

Very nice Greg, congrats. Great foursome.
Tim, I remember that Cobb PB from the auction and thought it had really great centering and registration. Nice card. Jason, great Lionel Carter, and a Chance no less. I have one of his and I think it’s real cool having cards from old-time collectors and knowing where your cards used to live. |

Welcome back, Tim. We left the lights on for you. Great looking Cobby.
Here is a recent pick up of a cdv I like... Quote:
|
Leon- I think that cdv was a steal. It has to be one of the best, if not the best, game action cdvs I have seen. It has players, an umpire, a scorekeeper, and is a close up shot. Tough to top.
|
Thanks
Leon, Great to be back after some time away from the hobby. I love that CDV of yours where the Umpire is just casually leaning on a ring bat!!!
Rhotchkiss, Thanks for the compliment on the registration and focus of the image on my Red Cobb. Greg, Love your Fantastic 4 of your Cobbs. Although technically low grade, they look fantastic and register exceptionally well for the grades! Can't wait to see more fantastic stuff pop up throughout the month in this thread. Best Wishes, Tim Kindler |
Is it safe to assume....
That this is just badly faded/discolored and not missing some kind of color pass?
