Nice Chuck. I would love if you posted a pic of your Drums and Uzits- that would be very cool to see. Not a bad few things to collect.

Congrats Ed!
Nice to see you back collecting. I'm thrilled to add this 1909 Larry McLean Dockman E92 which I picked up from Lee and Sterling Sports Auctions! The front is stunning. Back was re-glued. Probably my nicest E-card visually! Patrick |

October Pick-ups
Brian,
Is the photo of "Wild Bill" the back side of the postcard or separate from it. Sorry for the uneducated question, but what is his name? Great pick-ups! ----------------------------------- Brian: Just looked him up: May be "Wild Bill" Donovan from the 1908 Detroit Free Press Tigers postcard. Born Oct 13, 1876, died Dec 9, 1923. Right-handed pitcher played for the Washington Senators (1898), Brooklyn Superbas (1899–1902), Detroit Tigers (1903–12; 1918), and New York Yankees (1915–16). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Donovan |

Ever closer to completing the E94 master set. A little dinged but a welcome addition. Now that I am down to the last handful, any one I find and buy are welcome. Still chasing the blue and dark green Crawfords, violet Lajoie, red Lajoie, dark green Cobb and dark green Wagner. The last two I don't want to pay a fortune for so lower grades :-)
I don't believe I have ever seen a blue Crawford for sale, anyone have one they might part with? |

Thank you for the post and your kind words. The player is "Wild Bill" Donovan. The back of the postcard states Wolverine News. Here is a post, albeit a horizontal scan. |

Has anyone else ever gotten annoyed by a card suddenly becoming available? A few years ago when I first started my Nadja set a board member had a Bemis for sale but I thought the price was a little high. By the time I convinced myself to get it, it had already been sold and I've been looking for one since. Well fast forward to this year and 2 showed up in separate auctions about a week apart. Ultimately I ended up winning both. Then this one showed up in Brockelman's auction and I just couldn't help myself. So I now have 3 of the 5 graded copies with the other two tucked away in partial sets.

I hope it's okay to post this here...I already did so under Memorabilia:
I do not recall ever seeing a picture of Lefty pitching. Does anyone care to guess what year this is from...I'm just guessing 1920s. Attachment 330646 Attachment 330647 |
Don't have this in hand yet, but I'll be damned if it doesn't look good for a 3... back looks the same.

A few over the past month or so.. switching the approach a bit to get rid of some "non-core" cards to focus on the core. Love interacting with other members to hear their strategies on collecting. I feel most collectors go through cycles on collecting, from "I hate collecting I am done" to "I want to buy everything". I am probably leaning to the latter right now, but ask me again in a few months!

Was very pleased to pick up another Lenox! From my local card shop of all places. I have lived here for 8 years and only been in the shop once. I walked in and asked if they had any t206. They didn’t and I left. That was several years ago.
A few weeks back I got the idea to take my youngest son (6 this week) to get his first baseball cards. We each picked out a hobby box. I don’t buy modern cards but it was fun so we continued to do so. Put together my son’s first baseball card set in a binder. After getting to know the owner and letting him know I collect t206 he showed me the one and only t206 he had. Didn’t really need the card but couldn’t pass it up |
Nice cards Pete. Travis, congrats on the Lenox.

Here's one that has bounced around for while. I'm pretty sure that some of you have been caretaker, and some - including myself in that list - more than once.
He's been away for more than 5 years, but will settle in for a while once he arrives. Thanks for providing him with an extended stay Brian! -- Mike |
