Hi Justin,
What % of the cards are graded vs ungraded ? Also, this might be a question for the board as a whole, but how much do you think the Mantle is worth in that condition? |
More than $80. I'm in.
|
Just bought a few spots. This should be a fun one!
|
I'll have to count later, but about 80-100 graded cards would be my estimate.
As far as the value of the Mantle, I have $8500 in it to be transparent. Thanks to those of you who have bought in! Justin (Burl) Burleson Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk |
Hey folks,
Thanks to everyone who has bought in so far. I've extended the early bird special before I need to up the price to pay for more advertising. Grab this special before Tuesday! Also, I'm giving away one free spot in the break. Make sure to enter the giveaway; details are here. Again, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask any questions of me at burl@burlssports.com Justin (Burl) Burleson |
So if I buy a spot or two i have to pay the Tennessee sales tax as well? The normal ridiculous tax rate?

Good luck with the break, Justin.

Looking forward to the drawing.

Just bought two spots. Its way better odds than playing the lottery!!!
I was in a 1952 break of yours once before with a few spots, and watched the drawing live. Man, twice I missed one of the big cards by one pick, a big card was picked then I was the next pick!!!! Maybe this time I will be luckier!! But I got some of my money back when I sold what I got as I didnt get anything I wanted for my collection. I think its worth the gamble, and its fun, and it gives me something to look forward to!! |
Picked up some, over half gone

I'm new when it comes to breaks, how does the selection process work? Will I be e-mailed my slot number before the break starts so I know when it's my turn? Or do you draw the names randomly for each card number?

For a quick video to see it in action, you can check this '52 break from last year. |
I'm new, too, and I love a good gamble! Looking forward to my one shot at the big boys! Thanks for doing the break, Justin!

Sounds great. Looking forward to it!
|
What the heck
I picked one up! This will be a first for me!
|
Can someone explain this set break thing to me? Is this kind of a raffle of sorts?

Looks like they are all gone!
|
All sold out. Thanks everyone!
Break will broadcast tonight at 9 PM CST. Be sure to tune in! Link to broadcast Justin (Burl) Burleson |
I grabbed two right at the end. Hopefully that leads to the high number section of the drawing.
|
Good luck everyone! This one is going to be fun.
|
Good luck to all!!!!
|
Instead of using the $75 to buy a vg 1982 Fleer common from Dean's Cards, I jumped into this. Good luck (well, less luck than me), everybody.
|
Hope someone here wins the Mantle.

289 Tommy Holmes (raw)
343 Dick Gernert RC PSA 4 VG-EX Good last minute gamble. Fills two holes in my set. |
nice hit on the Gernert!
|
I hit a nice high number
very pleased, great break |
5 spots
4.commons and raw bill serena, could have been worst, but not by much |

2 great hits, John. That Tommy Holmes has been a tough one for me unfortunately. Nathan Lindgren had an especially great night, and Todd Bluemke wasn't far behind either. I debated with myself back and forth but just couldn't pull the trigger. Maybe next time? |
I got 2 cards, one is a high, 361 Bill Posedel, PSA 1.5 and I can't see why its graded so low, its a real good looking card. Got a raw 96 Willard Marshall in real nice condition. Neither fits my collection so I guess I will looking to sell them cheap and fast!!
Second time I have tried a 1952 break and didn't hit anything real good, but it was fun. |

Didn't hit anything great myself, but got a nicely centered high series Billy Herman... has a crease but my guess is it could grade a 2... should be able to sell quickly for about $100, so may make some lunch money! It was fun and will definitely try it again!!

I played. Ended up with a decent 297 Andy Seminick SP...probably could get 1/3 of my money back, but you got to pay to play. The big winner of the night bought 35 spots, which is not an inconsequential purchase.
|
Rizzuto
Bought one spot and pulled a Rizzuto. Can't complain.
|
Card received. Thanks for the fast shipping!

I got the immortal Cliff Mapes #109. Also a bonus 61 Robin Roberts so this guy got me as a customer now. Was fun to watch too. And $75 is peanuts compared to some modern breaks that dont have the upside this one had.

I luckily got #1 Andy Pafko (psa3). Takes a little anxiety of a beak when you get a hit on card #1.

Any idea why this card I won got such a low grade? I do see a crease on the back that doesnt show here but its not bad, I must be missing something!!!
|
Got myself a Bill Wight. Nice shape but OC. :/ Oh well.

Looks nice to me. Congrats. :) |
That's a big enough crease across the center of the card to get a 1.5 now. Presents really nice, but PSA has gotten much tougher. That one was graded within the past year. Maybe there's also some water damage from storage. Card might get a 2 or 2.5 if cracked out and tried again.
|
Hold it up to the light ??

..a healed-over old tiny needle-hole could get you a "1.5" --- we call them "Oral Roberts" condition.... .. |
hit the Peewee resse and 2 other high numbers
