The auction is winding down lot by lot. Post your winnings here. I came away with this one ...

Nice Comiskey, Paul.
So far this is the lone win, and I'm pretty happy with it. I don't think I can stomach another bid on the T206 Speaker scrap (oh well). |

Crofts blue, though really torn up on the back.

Great cards guys. CW, I was on that Nap too -- very very pretty -- but man did that thing get expensive; I bowed out at around $1200. Great looking card and great back (front/back combo). Here is what I got, and I am very excited about both. I think these will end my 2017 buying.

Didn't expect to win either of these.
I'm very excited! |
I was wondering if the winner of the signed Playball cards lot would be interested in selling the 1941 Play ball #22 Johnson card. Please send me a message if you do. Thanks, Scott.

Does anyone else think that some of the big $$$ items went lower than expected?
Or were the estimates way too high? Any thoughts? PSA 8 Mantle 52 Topps $408K? Tony |

i wonder if 52T Mantles, especially low grade ones, are cooling off. Finally. |
Love that Jennings!

I was the under bidder of oh so many and only came away with this one. Happy though ... I've been wanting this pose for a long time. :)

Some great wins.
Chuck, that Nap is T206 perfection! Ryan, love the Wags and JJ. I wonder if the lower than expected prices represent auction fatigue. I’ve talked to a couple dudes who have simply spent a ton of money already this year and are holding off for awhile. My bet is prices will start to spike again in Spring. |
I think the card market, with a few exceptions, is soft now. This is good if you are a buyer, bad if you are a seller. An auction house can only put out the catalog, they can’t make people bid (although Goldin and Hunt with their annoying phone calls sure try).

Sorry yeah I don't know why I put 1895 they have written on the back 1896 Baltimore Orioles so that is why I was saying Baltimore and not Brooklyn. Hope you are well, Brad |

Muchas gracias, Ryan and Sam!
Congrats to everyone that posted so far. |
Missed on a bunch. But did finally get another one of these after I traded my other away and have regretted it for a while.

Seems that large 398 different T206 lot went very reasonable along with that T205 set...

Added a few items, including a couple of cards I've been after for a bit - I can live with the centering on the Mantle since the image presents nicely, and thought the Speaker was solid for a 30!
|
Congrats Scott- nice pickups

Here's a link to the Betz Studio Keeler that sold at REA back in 2007: https://bid.robertedwardauctions.com...ce?itemid=9140 Brad - your Jennings image is definitely from Betz Studio and is very likely from this same "set" (as I have seen this exact image of Jennings but with the full black cabinet intact around it). Thought you'd like to know. |
More EPDGs to sift through. Gonna be a fun mail day.....

I picked up some '15 Cracker Jacks. I was really after the Branch Rickey and Cicotte. The others may be available soon.

Not prewar, but this is a set that has special meaning to me. A longtime dealer I respect a lot, used to always tell me how rare these cards were and how cool they were. Plus, I think he remembered watching the competition live on TV.
This one is for you Jay! |

"People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - attributed to Rogers Hornsby. Back in the day there wasn't cable TV, 24-7 news cycles, cameras in everyone's faces. Winter meant no baseball. Zero zip nada. In 1960 at least we had Home Run Derby. We got to see our baseball heroes up close in the California sunshine in glorious black-and-white while we were freezing our butts in living color. Home Run Derby was "must see TV" for this erstwhile ten-year old. Very cool pick-up.
|
does anyone know who won the W572 set? If so, I have an additional piece that goes along with the set. Have them contact me.
|
Their shipping is beginning to rival REA. My lot arrived yesterday. I thought a lot of the 19th century items went cheap.
|
HeRitage doesn’t charge for shipping either?

The tracking numbers shows up under orders. They also send out an email when the item ships.

My item was shipped before i even paid. I guess I’m
A “big boy” now. |

Guess I'm not a "big boy" like some others... |
I paid within minutes of getting the invoice and was notified they were going to wait a couple of weeks before they shipped. Only been buying in every auction since 2008 or so and always pay immediately. After calling them they said they would not wait to ship. Guess I will see if this ends up being true.

Anyone else still waiting on a tracking number? My echeck cleared on the 21st. I haven't heard anything from them until this morning I got an email asking me to fill out a survey about my recent purchase.
|
I paid with Paypal on the 19th and my winnings also haven't shipped yet... I tried calling and emailing with no results.
This has to be the worst shipper among all of the major auction houses  |

got shipping email on Monday. Interesting they changed over to USPS instead of Fedex ground.....

taxes
Several states have to pay taxes with Heritage, including Illinois where I live. I had to add an additional 10.5% sales tax, which is fine as I was fully aware of it going into the auction.
My question is: Why isn't that shown in the final sell price? If a guy pays $100K for an item, then they show the buyer's premium but not the additional tax (if there is one), why wouldn't this be reflected in the final sale price? On a final sale of $100K, that's an additional $10,500 (if you're in Chicago). |
I've always had great experiences with Heritage.
