So you think $30,000 for a PSA 4 is legit In the near future ??? So a psa 1 would be around $3500
|
$30,000 for a PSA 4 sounds legit in the near future ???

Nice card... Wait wrong thread |
Psa 1 6400
Psa 2 10,000 psa 3 18,000 Psa 4 30,000 I think they will get to these prices before we see a slow down not sure how long it will take but don't think they will go down in price anytime soon. For nice looking cobbs |

I keep asking myself when will they slow down. However, look at what '52 topps mantles bring. Maybe green cobby's still have room to grow?

Wow Those are huge prices Mr. Rare back time will only tell and I hope you're on the money

What the population numbers don't tell - how many have been resubmits that boost the pops? Then how many have really nice centering. How many have nice registration. How many are crease free (minimum EX 5)? How many are we now really left with? Who knows, but not that many.
|
Well there's only 16 of the sweet Corporal 150/25 three 4s two 4.5s and two 5s The other 9 are lower
|
I'm only referring to that card because I have that card got it from goodwin & company last auction
|
Pop numbers for the green cobby are tougher to determine due to SGC's pop report but my best combined guess is;
Green Cobb - 1252 '52 Mantle - 1955 Quote:
Nice registration - check! Crease and wrinkle free - check! But not minimum EX 5 :( Not as cool as Jeff's miscut - check! http://www.net54baseball.com/picture...ictureid=19639http://www.net54baseball.com/picture...ictureid=19620 |
There is a PSA 7 right now in Memory Lane. Let's guess what that will go for. I'm thinking $48K.
|
Memory lane PSA7 Greenback cobb $75000+
|
$60,000 for the 7.

Who knows what the Memory Lane 7 will end at. The image/registration on this example is quite hideous though in my opinion.

I say the green Cobb psa 7 goes for 88,000

Either way, congrats on a nice card, and hopefully the price will continue to rise. (I think threads like this certainly can't hurt in that capacity.) |

I commissioned that Cobb. Was very surprised and happy with closing price! Thought I paid too much about two years ago. Finally didn’t lose money on a sale. Centering...centering...centering. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
What is PSA waiting for this card has been selling strong in all grades but the smr guide price has not moved...
|
Haha You're right Mechanicalman I was just needing some reassurance that I didn't overpay

Green Cobb

I picked up this one many years ago for the price of a PSA 1. I don't have any other trimmed cards in my collection but I have been very happy with this one.
|
Yea thats nice even being trimmed .
|
5 pages of comments equals bubble
Look where they ain't |
Pretty sure I have seen supposedly non-trimmed examples with less white boarder.

Not all Cobbs were created equal. Seems like 150 series examples are a bolder, deeper green...and crisper clarity, right? Even the PSA 7 Cobb Bat Off in ML seems to have registration/clarity issues. |

Did a little research into market bubbles. This seems about right: Behavioral finance theory attributes market bubbles to cognitive biases that lead to groupthink and herd behavior. Other theoretical explanations of market bubbles have suggested that they are intrinsic and contagious. Emotional and cognitive biases seem to be the causes of bubbles, but often, when the phenomenon appears, pundits try to find a rationale, so as not to be against the crowd. Thus, sometimes, people will dismiss concerns about overpriced markets by citing a new economy where the old valuation rules may no longer apply. This type of thinking helps to further propagate the bubble whereby everyone is investing with the intent of finding a greater fool. Still, some analysts cite the wisdom of crowds and say that price movements really do reflect rational expectations of fundamental returns. Large traders become powerful enough to rock the boat, generating market bubbles. |
Thanks!
|
That 4 looks great - better than the 7 in the auction. If my trimmed Cobb were a Wagner it probably would have received an 8.
|
Here's the question in the nearer term (say within 2 yrs) will a comparably graded Green Cobb exceed a Magie error in value/sales price.

I personally think the market on Green Cobbs is a bit inflated. That means everyone thinking of getting one should get one now as they are probably about to take off :(.

any thoughts on the M116 Cobb? Not to go off topic, but it is kinda a "poor mans" T206 portrait. Pop doesn't seem to be that high as well.

Never trust BIN prices on ebay...its hard enough to trust regular auctions on ebay but at least you can see some bidding behaviors Always a ton of psa 1-2.5 1933 ruths, t206 cobbs etc out there on ebay BINs..... no significant price jumps on those unlike the psa 4s + |
How Ty Cobb green back how high can they go PSA 4 $16000+
I hear ya about bin prices but I did see one end for 4700 the other day and Cobb had a crease in his head! A lot of bids as well.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...c4d996f7ce.png I have an SGC 40 I'm gonna move soon. Let's see what happens with a no reserve auction I guess. [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
