July Pickups

Found this in the mail when I got home from work today. I've wanted this card for a while and I finally found one with the centering I wanted at a great price.
|
Awesome card, nice way to start out the month. One of my personal favorites.
|
Wow that Reese is superb. Jelly.
|
Great pick up on that Reese!

Classic image on that Reese. Congrats on the pickup!

Nice looking card with great centering. That is one of my favorite action shots. One of my pickups for the month was this 1975 Hostess Twinkies Yount Proof. This is the only Proof I have seen. Z |

These two Fireballers were waiting for me in the mail on Friday. Some serious MPH between the two of them... Attachment 237176 Attachment 237177 Just need the '75 Nolan in PSA 8 to complete my run now. . |
Great stuff from everyone! These are my humble acquisitions.

Nice '73 Ryan. Always thought that is an under appreciated card - from his greatest season. It can be a task to find it centered that well too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
What makes it a proof over a 4 card panel cut from a sheet?

More July arrivals

I had a pile of Joe Torre stuff in my baseball room; and my buddy was sending some cards in, so I finally got off my duff and sent them in.
They finally arrived yesterday. Added some key gems to my Torre PSA collection, including a '68 Venezuela, and a Jell-o or two. The only letdown was that I missed a pinhole in my other Venezuela, so it came in a low grade. But a couple of cards came in as the highest graded examples, so I was ok with that! |
Nice Torre collection! Underrated player. My favorite of your cards is the 68 Venezuelan. I'm chipping away at that set and have a raw Torre I'll be subbing soon as part of a group from that set.
|
Thanks!
I am almost 50% complete with the Torre Master set on PSA. |

Just got back from a short vacation and found these had arrived in the mail.
(Always glad to add to my 52 Topps collection!) I purchased these through, RayBShotz here on net54, who was great to deal with! Thanks again, Ray. :) |
Couple of Killebres today!
The '72 is from a recent set break...love the centering!

Also, added this one. Centering is not the greatest but the background color really pops.

That Hodges is one of my favorite cards ever!

Just won these last night in hopes it takes some purchasing pressure off me from my wife!?!? She is a huge Elvis fan, so hopefully these will work?:D
I had no idea these cards existing? If anyone knows anything more about them, I'd appreciate the info. Thanks :) http://www.ebay.ca/itm/331897132719 http://www.ebay.ca/itm/331897132340 |

Just some more 70's cards, this time filling out some of the better players and some more commons for my 1969 and 1972 sets. Once I get #560 of the 72 set I'll every card up to #657 and then I just need 54 various high numbers. Still have a little ways to go with the 1969 (73 cards remaining), but the series are pretty well represented, unlike the other years for whatever reason.

But I did win this about 5 minutes earlier. If I hadn't, I might have given you more of a run for your money. http://i1056.photobucket.com/albums/...synwzezaj.jpeg |
Nice wins fellas!
|
Mike, that's one heck of a consolation prize. Well done. I sure lucked out. Thanks for letting the Jackie go.

Nice cards everyone!!!

I'll add a couple...the 69 is an upgrade for my primary set (I am actually doing a 3rd 69 set, my favorite year) and the 65 came with it...nice two-fer outside of the upper wrinkle

BTW - that's a nice pair of Brooks you have there. |
From the B/S/T. I already have the matching Williams and a mini-display in mind.

I would love to pick up a Joe DiMaggio. Hope it's ok to ask, but what does one cost in less than perfect condition?
My grandmother's sister was married to one of the DiMaggio boys who didn't play ball, and my Dad's family and the DiMaggio came from the same town, Isolla delle Faminne. My grandfather and Joe's father were all fishermen. |
The one above cost me $40. Note that the Exhibits issues are postcard size and not viewed in the same league as for instance 41 Play Ball!
My "main" Joe D is a 1939 PB that cost me about $400. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk |
That's awesome to be a relative of Joe D! Just remembered we had a thread here on the most affordable DiMaggio cards...
https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?url...5&share_type=t 1961 Golden Press Dimaggio Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk |
And following the thread's suggestion of a Berk Ross, here is Joe D's last card (1952) in decent shape for only $100. (N54 gents with keener eyes can advise if they believe it is authentic...I vote Yes.)
Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/391502597884 Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk |
I love Exhibits and don't own any playing era Joe DiMaggio cards yet, so I'm drooling over that one!
|
Jason, give us a picture of the display when you have it set up!!!

Finding an Ashburn was actually a challenge .... now I may want to start a nice PSA midgrade set
Attachment 238407 |
Neal, I love the Red Heart series. The set tends to fly under the radar at times, and of course for me and timing, I'm about 5 years too late as nice examples are a bit pricey. Story of my life and cards.......
|
Very nice Neal! A beauty
|
The red really held its color. Terrific card!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk |
Thanks fellas - I once attempted this set, and had them all in SGC 84 to 88. The red series (especially Ashburn and Musial) were tough to find at my price point and generally did not have the centering I wanted.
The issue has some heavy stock, so mid grade seems to present much better than other issues. Owning a Mantle already, I may try this for the second time. Beautiful, affordable, and most importantly to me, a nice small set. |
If I remember right, a N54 member made an incredible framed display of the entire set. Of the minor releases of the era, I just love this one and Dan Dee. I don't have any of either but maybe someday...

That Ashburn is beautiful. I added these two Mid grade rookies to my collection this month.
|
I concur that the red hearts are a great set, and the red really pops on your ashburn!
