Let's See Your Holy Grail - Prize Possession - #1 Item
1 Attachment(s)
Only been on NET54 for the past month and haven't had an opportunity to see everyone's Holy Grail - Prize Possession - #1 Card. I don't collect early cards, but this was my prize possession - 1986 Michael Jordan Rookie Card PSA 9, which he signed in 1987. Bought it raw on Ebay for $650. Sent it to PSA. Sold it for $4,000. Let's see yours!

The 1953 Topps Mays autograph was obtained by my grandfather sometime in the early 1950's in Milwaukee, WI. He claims it was his rookie year...he's 91 now so I'll give him a pass on that one. The Wagner is a recent addition and downgrade from a PSA 5 that I sold late last year. Still very pleased to own this one

Although not very valuable, one of my favorites given to me as a kid and it takes me back to the good old real NFL days.

As I have collected cards, historic newspapers, and other artifacts, the holy grail for me was to obtain a contemporary image of Billy The Kid while he was still alive. There is only one known photograph of him, so really this very rare woodcut form an 1881 issue of the Illustrated Police News is the only way to obtain my Grail. Note that it is the same image of the lone famous photo.

This was the only card that I put in a toploader when I was a kid. I remember purchasing it from a baseball card store in a mall for some obscene sum like $50-60. When I re-entered the hobby a few years ago, managed to find it at my parents' home and had it holdered for protection.

I have over a 100 or so Killebrew cards , but this is my favorite

Only 2 known to exist. This one resides in my 1961 Fleer Hoops Signed set.
Down to only needing 12 signed cards out of the 66 card set. Currently the #1 signed 1961 Set on the PSA/DNA Registry! Mike Attachment 221133 |

Saw a picture of one of these in a Baseball Cards Magazine in 1983 (I was 12). Dreamed of owning one. Dream became reality finally in 2009

I have already owned and sold my holy grail cards: Mino Wagner throwing and Goodwin Kelly. Someday I might be wealthy enough to reacquire them - the two-card Mino set of both Wagner poses, that is generally on ebay, would definitely be mine if I had the funds.

Just FYI - a second verified photo of Billy the Kid was found recently. Google Billy the Kid photo and you should be able to find an article about it. Some guy bought it in a Fresno shop for $2 and now it's worth millions.

One of the very few images of "the greatest athlete ever produced in the state of Washington", and African American labor leader Ernie Tanner (ca. 1905-07 Tacoma track):

Leslie's woodcut. This one is awesome condition. This actual photo of it has been used in quite a few articles, including by John Thorn

Love the Billy the Kid paper.
Just FYI, that "New Billy the Kid" photo you refer to is as much Billy the Kid as my high school senior picture. That photo will never stand the scrutiny of the public auction market and is just a ploy to try and draw attention to the owner and the National Geographic Channel. Photo is worth about $10 if described correctly "fuzzy picture of random dudes from the 1880's playing croquet". |

Always been curious...when cards are just authenticated and not graded, do they still look for the card being trimmed or tampered with? I thought maybe this was only done if graded. Thanks!

I bought this at a show in Anaheim from Mike Berkus. Encapsulated it many years later:
http://photos.imageevent.com/exhibit...on%20ready.jpg I wanted a Groucho signed Bowman card but never thought I'd find one. I mean, what are the chances, right? Then I was surfing eBay one night [insomnia] and there it was. BIN: http://photos.imageevent.com/exhibit...utographed.jpg |
that groucho card is very cool!

As far as cards, it might be a tie. My Propagandas Montiel DiMaggio, or my US Army WWII post card.
Of anything in my collection, it might be my DiMaggio jersey that I just got. |

I've really gotten into the vintage hockey lately. Love the C56 set and this Taylor card. But I think I like this skateboard more. Took me over 10 years to finally find an original unused Tony Hawk that matched the one I got for Xmas 1985.

Not pre-war or a card, but until I land an N172 Collins (Lowell,) this is it, by far:
