Mike these are great wow
|
Dang! You got me all excited, Mike. I thought maybe a big pinback show was coming up somewhere.
My Holy Grail continues to be a 3.5" orange border Ken Henderson SF Gints pin... |
Hi Mike,
Just for you! I believe there are 4-5 known protection against loss wagners I now own 2! Oh and a nice Frank Chance w/s pin.... |
That Frank Chance is just "too cool for school".
Great stuff, Mike and Al! |

Al, that Chance is in the top ten Greatest pins discussion in my humble opinion⚾️ |

Pinbacks of no-hit pitchers
6 Attachment(s)
Great stuff guys!
Here is some of my pinback collection which is completely dedicated to pitchers that threw a no-hitter. Many are vintage and a few are modern... |
Mike, Mark,Scott love all the pins! Mike I have always loved that you collect cubs white sox and tigers pins a great collection. Scott you and the pitchers have been have been incredible as to what you have come across. Wow I still see a few of the pins you bought from me with the Feller how to pitch pin still in the plastic snap box with the tape on it just as I sent it to you what about 6-7 years ago?:D:D Love it.
Mike here is one that I think you have to get to fill in a tigers PM10. Yes thats right a tigers PM10. One of the ones the late Dr Paul and I had a big arguement with but if you do look close at the pin (Paul has it listed in the red sox section) you will see that George Kell has a tigers cap and tigers uniform on. NOT boston red sox. So yes in my opinion there is a PM10 tigers player pin!! Mark here are a few more that I like the best |
Holy catfish Al I have wondered why there wasn't a Tiger represented on a pm10:eek:
I really need the Santo pm10, but I'll add Kell to the list! Nice detective work Pal and thanks for posting your AMAZING pins! |

Not super exciting, but I just picked up the Cepeda on the left. The font and proportion of the head shot are slightly different than the other.

Some of my non-Cubs pins.
|
You have an amazing collection Mike! Your Cubs collection is fantastic, but it's great to see another "generalist" display:D
It's NOT ok to show only "some" of your non-Cubs collection! Give it up Pal! |
Anyone have the pinback from Forbes Field opening day? I have seen a few over the years but have only ever seen one that was still on its original paper. Can't believe I missed out on that.

A little bit of yankee love!
|
A lot of really hard to find Yankee pins there Al, but that Old Timers Day pin just never shows up.
|
Mike yes that pin is very hard to find!. Here is one I also have that I saw you have a very hard dodger pin. But all I have seen have the dark Bum on the right. The one I was able to get has a red bum on the front. I know its good as the union logo is stamped on the back!
|
Another interesting variation. The very rare "Shaving Permit" pin is red, but I've never seen either come in two colors. Got to love pins!
|
Mike yes the shaving permit bum is just like this one red. And yes Pauls was the only one of that pin I also have ever seen.
|
Quote:
Man, you guys are killing me with these bum pins. I've been trying to pick one up for a long time, but no luck so far. |

Those bum pins are like hens teeth!;) And will cost a ton.. I to like your pocket clip pin.. I never saw that one either. Like mike said gotta love pins.. |

Wow, Greg! Terrific pinback collection. :)
|
I love the Luke Appling in the original presentation folder!! Can't be many of those to be found.
|
Hi Rob,
I think I've seen one other Appling pin in the original folder. I also have the pennant from that day with the original pin still clipped to it. You see can parts of it on the glass shelf below other pins in a couple of the last photos. It's a white pennant with red letters that say "C'mon Luke" Greg |
So glad you made a pinback appearance Greg:D

I collect all things related to the 1971 Bucs. Although I have many other pinbacks these for obvious reasons are my favorites.:D
|
Pafko
Hi Greg,
Kind of a weird color scheme but I like the bright pink. I found this one in a group of other basically worthless pins. I guess you never know where the good ones will turn up. -A |
Pirates vs. O's
Quote:
By the way...don't even start collecting the '79 Bucs; I really don't like to think about two Series losses. |
Question for 71buc Mike: were all those guys with their names in the black boxes also on the 1972 team? I ask because I had dated my same Giants pins to 1972, based on who was featured.
|
Andy -- didn't realize it's pink, I thought it was just the shading of the photo.
Nics Bucs pins Mike -- I like collections with focus, something I am sorely lacking. Greg |

I love the Clemente with the close up of his head. You don't see that one every day. Great collection!
|
Thanks, perhaps I am limited by geography here on the left coast, but the one in my collection is the only one I have seen on eBay or elsewhere. I have never been to the National so it may be more common than I am aware.

Here are what I think are the final pin back photos, unless I pick up some more soon (hint, hint).
I'm finally setting up at a show soon, and the last couple of photos with the green felt background are the ones I'll be taking with me. Greg |

The Reliance was owned by Cornelius Vanderbilt III of the Untied States and in 1903 it defeated the Shamrock III...owned by Sir Thomas Lipton...the tea guy...of England... <img src="http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc120/CarltonHendricks/CarltonHendricks094/bio_zps96f8mgwe.png" border="0" alt=" photo bio_zps96f8mgwe.png"/> <img src="http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc120/CarltonHendricks/CarltonHendricks095/RelianceFinishLine_zpsr66tp56q.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo RelianceFinishLine_zpsr66tp56q.jpg"/> <img src="http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc120/CarltonHendricks/CarltonHendricks100/Challengers_zpsuvpjhzwp.png" border="0" alt=" photo Challengers_zpsuvpjhzwp.png"/> <img src="http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc120/CarltonHendricks/CarltonHendricks098/Americas%20Cup_zpsknaj9vxz.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Americas Cup_zpsknaj9vxz.jpg"/> |

Pin History
http://www.tedhake.com/viewuserdefinedpage.aspx?pn=whco
Hey thanks Mike...I could get into these pins...I guess Whitehead & Hoag Co. was the biggest producer of them...So I like that this Reliance one provides an example of a non Whitehead & Hoag...Below an interesting reference to it's production out of a trade journal... <img src="http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc120/CarltonHendricks/CarltonHendricks102/Stationeers%201903_zpso4rffctr.png" border="0" alt=" photo Stationeers 1903_zpso4rffctr.png"/> |
