That Mantle is sick.
|
Yeah that Mantle is incredible. Heck they're all pretty sweet! If I wasn't so into advertising, signed RCs would definitely be my go to
|
Bob,
Very nice cards. Awesome Mantle. Thanks for sharing. Duane |
One way to cure bordem. Hope you got my leads on more Mick autos. It be really cool to see you do a Mick run of auto versions.

I struggle with the same thought processes at times regarding should I settle for a certain card even though it is in poorer condition than I would normally accept. I have decided to stick with my standards regarding the condition of cards that I purchase for up to a year. After a year, if I cannot locate the particular card in the condition I want than I downgrade my standard and pick up a card that is in less than optimum condition. Don't let the search make you feel like an idiot or frustrate you. The search is what makes this hobby so much fun. Thanks again for sharing your cards. Duane |

Autos
Nice. I have thought of trying to complete an autograph set - and have about 28 in a Topps set. Thought better of it.
Nice auto cards. Z |

For your signed rookies, is your goal to get most of the hall of famers of all 4 major sports?
|
Jackie Robinson or Roberto Clemente would be real gems.
|
.
|
A Clemente auto rookie would be very pricey and rare.

The King Kong of known signed rookies, in my opinion, is this one. I believe there are two known examples signed, of barely 30 examples in all grades. This card is not mine, but I know where it is-- and unfortunately not for sale. I guarantee it will be one of the tougher ones in the set to obtain, perhaps moreso than Clemente.

Nice cards. Can you really call the NNOF a NNOF card now that you've added the name though? :)

Nice rice psa 8 auto rookie. And that Gehrig auto exhibit looks like it would grade pretty high.

Bob:
Lots of great auto RC's, Bob. Must have cost huge bucks with just the stuff you've picked up over the past month. Wish I could afford a few of them.......... |
Great stuff. I had this collecting focus about 10 years ago and got pretty far along. Another really tough I had was the '52 Matthews. Don't see those everyday :)

I have been picking up graded versions of many star rookies in many sports just as you have been doing. I think we are starting to see the rise of this focus lately, prices sure reflect such! |

Still amazed with Bob's collection. Having the resources to pick up hundreds of dollars in cards almost every day is incredible to me.

I'm blown away...the Thomas and Drysdale are jaw droppers.

What a fantastic collection. To continue Phil's comment, Bill, do you happen to have any extra seeds of that moneytree? :D

Very Impressive story. I'm sure most of us assumed you had done well at something with all of those great pick ups lately. It's hard to imagine starting and building a company at such a young age.
Nice cards too. I especially like the Thomas NNOF. I remember hearing about it in 1990 but I was just buying a pack or two here and there at the grocery store and never saw one until years later. Still don't own one yet, but hope to soon. |

Great story, great collection.

good stuff
congrats!! |
great stuff...just ventured over here to the pre-1980 side...I hadn't been over here for several months. This is the first I'm seeing your collection! Very awesome! I remember you mentioning that you needed something new and challenging after completing all the Topps runs. I'd say that your new focus is quite challenging, although you've made far too much progress too quickly!!
Anyway, best of luck with your collection! I'll keep a close eye on your progress. Here are a few of mine (I like the really esoteric stuff): 1967 Reds Team Issue PC: http://photos.imageevent.com/derekgr...67%20Bench.jpg 1969 JD McCarthy PC (error): http://photos.imageevent.com/derekgr...%20_error_.jpg 1956 Pirates Team Issue PC: http://photos.imageevent.com/derekgr...azeroski_1.jpg 1948-49 El Indio: http://photos.imageevent.com/derekgr...El%20Indio.jpg 1963 Reds Team Issue PC: http://photos.imageevent.com/derekgr...%20TI%20PC.jpg |

Best of luck on your journey! Enjoy the hunt! Instead of grabbing whatever you can find to build up your collection quickly, try seeking out a specific card with that player's autograph. It'll be fun to try to nail down a needle in a haystack. Although, I must admit, everything you've picked up so far looks to have GREAT centering and registration, so make sure not to compromise. There are some cards in my collection that I simply can't stand to look at because of their condition flaws (despite being very rare). I just "needed" the card to fill a hole in my collection (on paper). |

Phil niekro
Has a 1964 Topps card I don't know if that matters or not. I know the 1965 says rookie but so does the 1964.

Great stuff Bob. Are you going for a RC of everyone or just HOFer's? I had an idea to just do the cup'o coffee guys on their first(only) card.
