BST Auction Results
I felt that prices overall were very strong, especially for an inaugural effort. The guys did a great job of marketing it over a long period of time. Just about everything that I felt was a relative bargain going into the extended bidding session exploded and finished at or above my expected results.
I would definitely consider consigning to these guys the next time around. I will add that I did not have any consignments nor place any bids this time around but certainly kept a close eye on things. |

The Zimmer E107 got away from me, but I did win the T207 Rafael Almeida Red Cycle. Great auction!!

A great auction and it's always nice to see an auction house that has a balance of baseball AND football items available. Very strong inaugural auction!

I won this at less than I expected. Most of the t206 that I followed were at or a little below market price. But don't know if that was representative at all.
|
Greg- very nice example...you should try for all of the horizontal poses in the same grade, would be a killer subset.
Congrats to the guys at BST! |
I won my very first auction ever. Average price ended up at around $30 a card after fees. About right for the lot I suppose but honestly, I didn't think my $200 would stand up. Not a lot of interest in cards with qualifiers.

Very well run auction w/ a nice variety of lots & a great printed catalog for us old school guys.
Hopefully BST w/ be a fixture in the auction community for years to come. |

Got my first Cobb, and my first original hall of fame inductee, very excited. $375+fees, not sure if it's a good price or not, but honestly, I'm happy and that is all that matters! :D

@Jeff CVC: GREAT!! i got my 1st Cobb (red) earlier this month, still waiting for its arrival.
Just so happens to be a polar bear back as well. |
|
Thanks Steve and Greg, good to know that I didn't completely blow my bank on the Cobb. @chris, congrats on the red Cobb as your first, I know those are a bit more $$, well done!

Loved the Mayo's, particularly the Trenchard. Nice pick ups, Scott! |
Good for buyers and sellers

I was pleased as a consignor (my lot was the ungraded T206 near-set) and as a bidder. I completed, at long last, my T207 set (just don't ask me about the Lewis "no insignia" variation - one Irving is enough!).
And the guys at BST are great to deal with- |

Great auction this was my only pickup.

I kept an eye on stuff didn't register so couldn't bid. I did now and look forward to future auctions

I completed my T205 Detroit Tiger set with this addition.

Won the T207 Saier Red Cycle back. Thought about going for the Ward Miller but picked up an anonymous back of Ward Miller a couple of months ago and just wanted a Cycle back in cubs for my display.
|
I had bids on 3 lots - 2 pre-war and a lot of Clemente's (Need them to finish off some sets). I won the Clemente's, but got edged out on the others.
Great selection - Fair prices - Looking forward to the next one! |
Nothing but sour grapes from me. I was the underbidder on two lots that I wanted real badly.
|
Wow! Great pick-ups [emoji33]
Love the orange Cobb, pepe and Scott's demmitt (only a 1.5?) |
Congrats, Tim!

Agree with you about dealing with the BST team as well - congrats on a great inaugural auction. -- Mike |
Thanks Mike
For those kind words - doing that research was a labor of love. Nice to finally complete the set.

I still can't access my invoice. I won 2 auctions - the Doc at the opening bid and the horizontal Pelty. I am sure I overpaid on the Pelty but I keep getting outbid/watching others go for too much so I decided to put in a bid that was 1 (or 2) steps higher than I would have liked - and I got it for less than my max bid. I don't really like one of the corners and I am not sure it deserves the 5, but I like the image so I am not complaining. I was also the underbidder on the T207 Pelty - if someone here bought it to upgrade one please let me know if you have one to sell.

Congrats Tim on your T207 set
Congrats Tim,
I was tempted to bid on the Irving Lewis T207, but decided to wait and work on picking up the handful of other catchers I'm interested in the set. Glad I didn't help run up the price. Patrick |
I think the overall sentiment for both bidders and consigners was positive. Dig the Old Judge and PSA 4 Matty!

finally got my T213-2 Chance NY Portrait to complete my T213-2 NY Americans set...
http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...sbbwoczc5.jpeg Also grabbed a Kotton for my T216 NY Americans run http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...swja7jxhj.jpeg Loved the auction. Well run, nice catalogue, liked that the prices showed the juice also when bidding. Mike |

Was outbid on several including the Clemente letter where I think I was underbidder. Gah. Terrific auction and look forward to the next.

Just got my invoice.
Very fair s/h/i. ............. and you can pay by Paypal. |
My invoice included sales tax even though I do not live in Wisconsin - did that happen to anyone else?
|
I'm in New Jersey and there was no sales tax on mine.

Who's Smiling Now?
I was able to add a significant card (for me) to my HOF collection.
Smilin' Mickey Welch is on his way, representing the Old Judge Set in my attempt to catch them all... Will send a scan if I ever login to my "real" computer and hook up the scanner again:rolleyes: |

Having completed the T207 set, I've been putting together an all Red Cycle back subset. This card got me close, it's one which has been tough to find :)

Nice pickup TBob
Nice pickup Bob. I been working on the T207 set a lot lately. It grows on you after a while.

By the way, the BST scans are so nice you may not need to scan the card yourself. Just save the scan from the BST auction page (you can view and save the high res version by clicking the magnifying glass icon above the scan on their site). I'd post it here for you, but I don't want to steal your thunder... :) |
Grazi
Thanks Chuck!
That's a pretty good idea, my old laptop is...well, old. My scanner still works for now, but I rarely connect the two anymore. And I agree , the scans are outstanding on BST website. Still Smilin' Brian |
Thanks - pretty stoked with the pickup and can't wait to get it in hand!
Brian - Love the Mickey, congrats! |

Nice pickups everyone. Dave, if I were a Cobb collector, I would have fought you long and hard for that fantastic Orange Borders card!
I am happy to add this tough T207 to my collection of cards of the players on the Wash. Senators 1924 Championship Team. Lefty George Mogridge spent 15 years in the majors with a .500 W-L record. Although he won 16 games for the 1918 Yankees, his best years were 1921-24 with the Senators with a record of 65 wins vs. 51 losses. In the 1924 World Series, with WaJo losing both Games 1 and 5, it was primarily the pitching of Tom Zachary (winner of Games 2 & 6) and George Mogridge (winner of Game 4) that enabled the Senators to make it to Game 7. While WaJo became the W. S. hero as the winner of Game 7 in relief, Mogridge played an important role in this game, as follows: "October 10, 1924. The day the Washington Senators won the World Series for the only time in their 71 year existence. The pitching matchup for this 7th game is Virgil Barnes for the National League champions and, curiously, sore armed Curly Ogden for Washington. Is Bucky Harris crazy? John McGraw, expecting Harris to name a lefthander, now can start Bill Terry against the righthander Ogden. The lefty hitting Terry is 6-for12 in this series, with most of his damage inflicted on Washington’s righthanders. But, McGraw only starts the rookie against righthanders. Ogden strikes out Fred Lindstrom to start the game. Frank Frisch follows with a walk. At this point, Harris pulls the righthanded Ogden in favor of southpaw George Mogridge. It appears the “Boy Wonder” has outfoxed the legendary McGraw. Now, Terry would have to hit a lefthander. Mogridge retires the final two batters of the 1st, George Kelly and Ross Youngs. Terry grounds out in the 2nd and Harris’ strategy pays off when McGraw removes Terry from the contest in the 6th inning." Mogridge pitched creditably for 4.2 innings, giving up 2 runs (1 earned), however he would have been the losing pitcher had the Senators not rallied to tie the game in the 8th inning. |
Love the paypal checkout where it doesn't jack up the rate by 2.9% to cover the extra fees. Shipped the next day. Love it

I didn't even know they took PayPal!! I sent a personal check via snail mail!
Also, the rules state that if you paid via PayPal checkout, the buyers premium was SUPPOSED to be 21% and if you paid by check it was supposed to be 18 1/2%. That doesn't appear to have been the case this time. |
I also paid by check. The rules say that the buyers premium would be higher if payment is by Pay Pal - is that not the case?
|
Can someone from BST chime in?
|

Good morning everyone,
Thanks to the Net54 community for making our inaugural auction such a success! Regarding the buyer's premium and the discount for check payment vs. paypal; We had an internal error. We are accepting paypal, but there is no check discount. In essence, we are eating the Paypal fees. We have shipped everyone who has paid. Most shipments went out within 24 hours of payment being received. I suspect that anyone who paid last week and hasn't yet received their winnings, will receive them today. I apologize for not communicating tracking numbers. Simply put, we did not have the staff in place to email everyone and continue to get shipments out as payments came in. Additionally, and FWIW, we paid all the consignors within a week of the auction ending. Again, thanks to the entire Net54 community for your friendship and support. Best regards, Andy Becker BST Auctions |
