Just posted in the T211 thread but appropriate here as well.
Take note of the buttons. Apparently Mrs. Wilder didn't help dress him on picture day. http://www.louisianacards.com/upload...jpg?1405610583 |

Standing up against the wind - with apologies to Bob Seger & Stu Miller
2 Attachment(s)
I know these aren't vintage, but I've been looking for a Mathewson pic with basically the same 'standing against the wind' stance. I just checked with the Hall-of-Fame and they don't have it....saw it several years ago...anyone seen it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated: Attachment 181017 Attachment 181018 |

Beautiful photo Brian, who are those guys?
|
Gibson is one...
|
William,
As you guessed, George Gibson is the player in the upper left. Upper right is Mike Simon. Lower left is Paddy O'Connor and lower right-the only non-catcher in the group-Harry Swacina. |
Very Nice..

A little more "form fitting" than the major league version. Columbia U. I believe.

1909 Tigers from the Library of Congress site. I love the old English D on the sleeves.

Brian, I love this image. In case you weren't sure, it was taken at Whittington Park in Hot Springs, Ark, in 1909 (who am I kidding --you already knew that). I had previously tried to identify the fourth individual, but never considered Harry Swacina as a possibility. Thanks for the sharing.

Must of been a cold day in 1910, when this card of Hugh Duffy was produced.
Here in Pennsy, it is a mighty cold day. And, today's "umpteenth" snowfall is expected to pile 10 inches of snow on mounds of snow already on the ground. http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/t...6/e90duffy.jpg TED Z . |

Believe it or not the cards " with" sweater are in the vast minority within the Zeenut series, it just goes to show how many cards they produced... To bad they weren't as comprehensive out East, lots of Major Leaguers were featured on far fewer cards! |
