September Autograph Pickups
1 Attachment(s)
No one has started this thread so I guess I will , Every once in awhile I get something that's impossible for me to sell , This autographed George Carlin with the inscription "Everything I told you Was True" was one of them , A BIG shout out to Dave L. and his framer for accomplishing this for me , Did not trust anyone locally to do it and Dave got it done in grand fashion, Hangs next to my desk and impossible to have a bad day ...because everything he told me WAS true :)
Thank you ! _________________ jim@stinsonsports.com Vintage autographs for Sale Daily stinsonsports.com |

These are pretty much my summer pickups, thought I'd photograph them after getting a vintage Banks ball (thanks, Tony!!)
I know the first batch are commons, but these three are on vintage Giles/Cronin balls, which I think is infinitely cooler than a new Selig. Second group is some more vintage sigs, these are WWII guys. Third group is some future HOFers that I've recently picked up. Fourth group is some higher-level sigs for the collection. |

Busy weekend, picked up my second signed T206 Rube Marquard ( a different pose), a 1934 signed Goudey Rookie of Hank Greenberg, and a signed T206 of Fred Snodgrass. Looking to buy more signed T206 cards, let me know if you have any available.
|
Congrats on the Greenberg. You outbid me on that one. I had it already but wanted to upgrade. Prices on all these are going up exponentially. Glad I got in at least a little earlier
|
Nice job Giovanni.
Where did you pick up the Greenberg? |

Super Duper pumped about my newest pickup courtesy of Mark C.
I am going to frame it with either a Kreindler photo or perhaps a nice Conlon. |
Gorgeous Cy Young Mark! Congrats on the pickup.

I was watching that Leaf Dimaggio. Nice pickup at a great price.

Just won this pile of autographs. Especially looking forward to the Maris and hoping the 'early Mays' is actually early as it isn't in the photo.
48 signatures of baseball players on various slips and cards, some inscribed, with highlights including Joe DiMaggio, Gil Hodges, Roger Maris, Willie Mays (very early), Pie Traynor, Paul Waner, Zack Wheat, and Ted Williams. Additional signers are: Walter Alston, Luke Appling (SP and signature), Yogi Berra, Max Carey, Orlando Cepeda, Joe Cronin, Urban ‘Red’ Faber, Bob Feller, Whitey Ford, Frank Frisch, Charles Gehringer, Lefty Gomez, Hank Greenberg, Burleigh Grimes, Lefty Grove, Gabby Hartnett, Billy Herman, Elston Howard, Carl Hubbell (HOF card and signature), Ralph Kiner, Ernie Lombardi (SP and signature), Ted Lyons (ALS and signature), Heinie Manush, Joe McCarthy (HOF card and signature), Bill McKechnie, Sam Rice, Eppa Rixey, Phil Rizzuto, Edd Roush, Ray Schalk (ANS), George Sisler, Bill ‘Moose’ Skowron, Duke Snider, Bill Terry, and Bobby Thomson. http://rrauction.k2imgs.com/content/.../3329146_1.jpg |
Scott - The Mays is in the photo (below Wheat and above Grimes).
|
Thanks Mark - I must be blind.
Well, that certainly is an early S.F. Giants Mays - probably 1961-62. When they said 'early', I was thinking New York. |

Autograph Album

Picked up a very cool autograph album today... It formerly belonged to a woman who was an avid autograph collector, die hard Brooklyn Dodger fan, and later a fixture at Shea stadium (used to bake cookies for the players)...
Thought I would share a few photos |
a few more...

Beautiful album pick up Dave. It's amazing how bold the autographs are. Congrats. Are you going to keep it as a whole or break it up?

Added a nice one to my Presidential run. A beautiful William Henry Harrison autographed document from the War of 1812.

Nice, Mike. Just don't get it plasti dipped, too.
|
Quote:
LOL, where did you see my plasti dipped ride? Are you on the Porsche board too? By the way, the plasti dip is still holding up great! |
PDip is good stuff. Takes some skill and the right equipment on large panels but for small things like emblems, wheels, grilles, etc you can't beat it. Worked well on my SRT8. Trading it in for a '15 WRX and dip came right off.

Damn, Mark! That looks awesome! |

It's amazing how much a Kreindler and a Conlon can dress up a plain old 3x5 with ink scribbled on it! :D I wish I owned the originals of the painting and photo, but computer prints do quite nicely. |

Got this one back from my framer today... Really like the pose
|
The Cy Young piece is fantastic, that would look great anywhere .....especially on one of my walls.
Dave your stuff as always is presented beautifully. Wish I had somebody here to do the job your framer does. |

Dave, As usual, your framer does a very nice job. |

Thanks Taz. I did them myself.

Very nice Mark!

Ray Knight Auto Ball
Got Ray Knight to sign today at Nats park before Jordan Zimmermann pitched the Nationals' first no hitter. Have met Ray a couple of times and he's very approachable. I didn't ask for the inscription, which was a nice surprise.

Nice ^^^ congrats.

Nice pickup! The catch to end the no-hitter game was one of the best that I've ever seen given the circumstances. WOW-what a game! Did you know that the losing pitcher Henderson Alvarez threw a no-hitter in the last game of the year in 2013 for Miami? Pretty unbelievable actually... |

I was wondering - when they bring out the game-used balls late in the game, do you know if they were bringing out Zimmerman-pitched baseballs? Just curious - I would think that if a no-hitter was in progress, they would hold their balls (pun intended); otherwise, what an opportunity for the fans to pick up no-hitter balls. |

It was one of the best games I've been to, that's for sure. And Denard Span getting his 184th hit, which is a new club single season record, was nice to see, but overshadowed by the no hitter. |
$100 or so for a no-hitter I attended?...sign me up.
Thanks for the info - hopefully other teams operate the same way. Sent from my SM-G730V using Tapatalk |
Picked up these cards for my 1957 set.

My wife and son got to go on the field for an Angels/Twins batting practice. My son was able to get a couple of Mike Trout autographs along with quite a few pictures. He also had a picture of him and Josh Hamilton from a prior meeting signed. Here is one of the Trout items he had signed.
|
Great autograph, but he has lousy signature.
