Picked these up last night. Highest and for that matter only graded, from 1907....Both Cincy players. Guy at bottom is said to be Hans Lobert. Any help on top guy?

Zach
Zach, that card looks like it is a Katrina survivor.
It has been showing up in my searches for the past few months. I'm glad you bought it. Rick |

Substandard
This card falls beneath my exacting standards...I insist that my cards have at least 10% of the front still intact.
I'm impressed with the detective work to determine that it is actually Elberfeld fielding. Brian Quote:

What kind of grade do you think the TPG's would assign to it?

Ruth Photo
2 Attachment(s)
I bought my first Ruth photo for $20 this one was a bit more but wanted to get something of Ruth when he was still with the Red Sox.
This is a Underwood & Underwood Type 1 from Sept. 12, 1919 just before being traded to the Yankees. What is also cool is that he played that day of the photo stamp and went 2-4 with 2 rbi's |
Derek, Great Matty!

My latest pick-up, a 1917 Boston Red Sox team RPPC taken at Hot Springs, Ark. on March 5, 1917 and subsequently mailed two days later, on March 7, 1917. Although the player images are small. Babe Ruth is easily identifiable. I will begin working on the rest of the players.......
UPDATE - Herb Pennock is standing on the far left. Now looking for Harry Hooper............. |
Nice Phil, was wondering who bought it.
|
A beautiful T206 and a tough HOF Negro Leaguer RC, enjoy!

Wow, won this top-graded card at PWCC--at a good price! Shill bidders on bathroom breaks? Watching "Mad Men"?

Ruben, I'd expect nothing less than that centering perfection. The keen eye strikes again! That card torches many a higher graded example.
And such a clean image, too! |
Thanks Matt. Great meeting you on Saturday. Amazing Mantle & Ruth rookie. Looking forward to your next addition/s :)

Brad - cool Ted Williams PC.
I'm not sure if I've ever seen a George Burke PC w/ an AZO stamp box on back. They usually have Kodak stamp boxes. According to Playle, this particular stamp box style dates it from 1926-40s...so congrats on the great contemporary Williams PC! |
One of my favorite poses.
<p><img src="http://photos.imageevent.com/mhgt/hoft206/prewarcards/frontback/large/T216%20Matty.jpg" width="644" height="800"></p> |
Mike, gorgeous Matty. The registration is spot on.
|
Thanks Derek! I heard from another board member (Lance, who is a wealth of info on Burke and just a nice guy) that he has handled thousands of Burke photos but only about a dozen or so AZO Burke postcards. So I guess it is a bit of a scarce find. I sort of assumed I overpaid for the postcard because I liked it but now I'm hearing I may have gotten a good deal. We'll see when I send it in to PSA to have it authenticated.

Picked up #42 in my T205 set. I had never heard of Mr. Duffy, so plugging in a HOf'er for 50 bucks worked for me. |

My first Cap Anson, and very scarce in B&W form. I actually prefer this to the more common color one, as for me it becomes TOO cartoonish.

So the set continues thanks to some help from a fellow member buying my E90-1's. Anyway I scored this nice 5.5 Paul Waner. Priced a little more than I wanted to spend but still got a fair price on it. So now one card closer to my goal being completed. Hope you guys enjoy.

Thank you Mr Sarno. I think we figured it was Campbell ink shift on the front.
