Does that card really exist?
We recently had a thread about one-of-a-kind cards; what about catalogued cards that you've never seen?
There's always hope, as there have been a few unexpected unique finds over the past few years. The Tango Eggs Cobb, Just So Ewing, and of course that breathtaking N167 complete set come to mind. So, does [that card] really exist? |
Currently, at the top of my list would be an e92 Nadja Cobb. From past threads one was rumored to exist but no one could provide a scan. I would also like confirmation on the Zimmerman, Doyle (with bat), Donovan, and Bescher.

I'm just glad this one exists considering I'm from Pittsburgh:

Maybe not what you're looking for but Tinker with a P42 is possible but never seen. Chase blue portrait Drum is confirmed but no record of it.
I'd like to think a Joe Jackson T206 proof was made. |

Too bad the E107's of Wagner & Matty didn't have their baseball uniform variation. They would be pretty cool. Tony |

It did on April Fools Day here a few years ago! Admit it, who was fooled by it?? |
I'll add the rumored blue mount N173 to the list.

Curtis Ireland card of Elmer Miller

W600 Branch Rickey.......

J=K George Gibson

1959 Topps Bill White without the transaction line

E92 Nadja's
Quite sure that Bescher, Donovan& Doyle with bat do not exist. I was told about 10 years ago that Lipset said that he had seen a Nadja Cobb. Still in 10 years of looking have not seen any of these 4 subjects. I think that Tim Newcomb has an Otto Knabe. I have also never seen a Zimmerman.

How about a T-215 Pirate Tobacco Ty Cobb.

good one Tony...that'd be a beast of a card!!!!

Alpha Engraving Keeler

I had heard it existed but had never seen it.
Now I have Thanks for Posting |

On a much lesser scale than most of the cards mentioned in this thread, has anyone seen these E91A cards?
Art Devlin Rube Oldring James Slagle Fred Tenney I am sure they are out there, but I haven't seen them and I have been collecting the set for about 5 years. Rob |
Can anyone confirm the existence of these E105s?
Bill O'Hara Fred Jacklitsch Mickey Doolan |
E91a
Rob,
All four E91A cards should be out there...and I also have the complete set, so I have them as well. Brian Quote:

Thanks Brian!
I figured they were out there, but can't be much of an abundance. I have been all over Ebay and auction houses for years and can't remember coming across any. |
There should be 8 more of these strip cards:

Last November, an awesome fellow board member told me that he had talked with a dealer at a show. The dealer mentioned that he received an email from a guy who asked for advice on how to go about selling 5 different raw E105s, including Jacklitsch. I was able to email the dealer and ask about these cards, and he said that the seller was going to have them graded and submit them to an auction house. I kept an eye out for that grouping; they were just auctioned last week. I was able to pick up two that I needed, including the unicorn. I'm finally at the midway point: 25 of 50. I may never complete this set, but at least now I know that it is indeed possible. http://caimages.collectors.com/psaim...ch%20front.jpghttp://caimages.collectors.com/psaim...sch%20back.jpg |
Daryl, awesome pickup, and that is one nice looking "poor".

1910 Darby Chocolates Bill Dahlen. If it ever becomes available I probably couldn't afford it, but I'd love to just see a picture of one.

Congrats my man!!

That Jacklitsch might be the nicest 1 I have ever seen.

Congrats! Tracking that down is awesome.

Daryl, I was hoping you got that when that group sold. I got skunked on all those. I'm very happy for you! Interesting that the listing said it is "one of two." Ed |

That's fantastic Daryl, I remember when you started the set...very awesome stuff.

nice job daryl!! I've never heard of a blank backed e105.
|
I know this was a 2013 post, but the Tinker PD 42 has since been confirmed (which Chris knows). Progress!

Thanks again guys. No blank backs that I know of, but there is a signed Larry Doyle (throwing) on the PSA pop report. I would love to see that card.

Since Rich opened this up to post war cards, I'd like to add a Richie Ashburn card from the Felin Franks set.
I have a newspaper ad proof showing the card, but have never seen one. I have all the other known Ashburn cards including some really rare cards, like Lummis, Dad's Cookies etc. but this one has eluded me for 40 years. You can see the ad proof here: http://www.net54baseball.com/showthr...in#post1357095 Fred |
There is at least one blank back Mello mint that exists. Paper thin and has the signature crease.
Congrats again on the pick-up!!! |

Wow, I didn't know that Danny! Thanks! |

Show me a York Caramel Paul Waner so that I know I'm *not* chasing a unicorn?

No Cobb Nadja, but I do possess a E92 same of Honus - batting PSA 3 vg, which if I have read the population reports from SGC & PSA correctly, is the only graded copy recorded. Whether it is the only one around is highly dubious, but it does seem rare for sure. It just might, repeat, might, be coming up for auction at a later date this year.
P.S. Sorry, but I remain computer challenged so no scan possible at the moment. |
I want to see a 1923 W572 Rapp or Barbare. Barbare was only added to the checklist recently, but no one can confirm why it was added. (There are two other W572s I have never seen a photo of - but at least each of those has a graded copy, so if we assume the grading companies didn't goof, at least we know those exist).
Cheers, Patrick |

I'd like to see the 1922 E121 Babe Ruth Photo Montage and E121 Babe Ruth Holding Bird cards where the "Babe" is NOT in quotes. There are examples of these in both the PSA and SGC population reports although I don't think I've ever seen a copy, so not sure if these are errors by the TPG's or they actually exist.

Elmer Flick Novelty Cutlery
I've had a near set of Novelty Cutlery postcards (23 of 26) before. I consider it a 25 card set because Elmer Flick does not exist. I can tell you, if that postcard really existed, I would have found it by now.

Honestly, it was probably a situation where the checklist was accumulated either over the telephone or by a hand-written letter. The receiving end just assumed it was Flick with all that star-power in the set. I mean, why would Frock even be in this set in the first place? Reminds me of that game where you sit around a circle and whisper a secret and when it gets back around to you (who originally started it) it sounds nothing like it did when you first told it... |
