I posted this for opinions, and after over 250 views I only got one. As I believe that this is a legit auto, I'm posting it here as HOF auto #233 for my collection.

So I cracked the Early Mo index card from its PSA/DNA tomb, and sure enough the two little dirt specs came off... I gave it to my framer this morning with a ticket 9/26 to Mo's last game & Voila!!!
Not much of a modern auto fan so this one will likely wind up in the BST... If anyone is interested, please feel free to PM Me. Happy Collecting! |
Fabulous piece sir.
|
Very nice presentation, Dave. Will you be going after a '1st game stub' for a future re-frame?
|
Mo
Great question... That would certainly make for an interesting piece no doubt!

So this one is slightly outside of my typical collecting interests, but I couldn't pass up a vintage auto of the greatest showman on earth!
What is pretty neat to me is that it was signed exactly 101 years and 1 day before my birthdate! |

It just goes to show how long autograph collecting has been around. |
Here's one I just picked up for my Presidential collection. Carter is so common that it's hard to find good pieces for him, however I thought this one fit the bill. Thought it had a great association considering the Camp David Accords.
TLS signed “Jimmy,” one page, 6.75 x 8.75, White House letterhead, May 20, 1977. Letter to Lawrence Spivak, cofounder of Meet the Press. In full: “Thanks for sharing your comments about Menahem [sic] Begin. Your insight, as usual, is valuable.” In very fine condition. Accompanied by a copy of Spivak’s initial letter, in part: “If Menahem [sic] Begin becomes Prime Minister of Israel, I think he may offer more of an opportunity for peace than a peril to it…He has softened considerably since his days in the Irgun. Not only that, but his heart attack and his age can, I believe, make him think more about a place in history as a peacemaker than as a hawk. If he should recognize the importance of compromise, it will be easier for him to sell the Israelis than it would be for a Prime Minister who is more dovish.” http://i867.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps46b92fcc.jpg |

obviously not the most common uncommon autograph, but thought that this 1948 copy with this inscription was pretty cool!

Like Dave, not sports, but Picked up this today at a thrift shop. Hoda Kotb from the TODAY show personal signed copy of Ace' biography, dated on day of his appearance on the show. How does something like this end up in a thrift shop? May sell or keep, but LOVE IT>

Ace
Wow what a cool signature!

The Rocket
1 Attachment(s)
Aside of the controversy, the rocket was one of my favorite pitchers growing up... For years I wanted a copy of his 1984 Pawsox pre-rookie card, but couldn't shell out the $250 that they were asking at the time... in 2012 I ended up scooping one up on the bay for $30... I still have the set, and this auto provides a nice companion piece... its a circa 1983-1984 Team Sheet Signed by A very young clemens & two teamates (Chuck Davis & Charlie Mitchell), both also appeared in the 1984 pawsox set but only Mitchell played on the team... That said, I think the sheet might be a 1983 New Britain Sox sheet which would be the second earliest clemens that I have ever seen (1983 Longhorns team ball)...
Not an earth shaker, but extremely happy to have it in my collection |
Nobody can take it away from Roger before the roids. Cool early signature

Mantle signed lobby card. Thinking of getting the other autos and framing it with the piece. But not sure if I'll be able to find a Bryan Russell auto.

The love Ortiz gets, plus the hero welcome Manny got from LA when he returned from his suspension tell me that people really don't care about steroids at all. |
Whoops wrong thread. meant to psot on the main board.
|
Quote:
As far as Ortiz goes and why he was on the list,MLB and the MLBPA said at the time, they are prohibited from discussing it, other than to inform Ortiz that he was on the list. They can't say why he's on the list - to us, to Ortiz, to anyone. I guess he's guilty until proven innocent, right? |
Proof or no proof there were plenty of players not on that list. Ortiz was. Players from that list have admitted what they've done. It is clear to me that the list is credible unless you have an ulterior motive, like that you're a fan of a player named. I understand that, but to suggest that the list or information regarding the players on that list is fabricated seems at odds with what some of the players on the list were willing to admit.

Just look at a baseball card of Ortiz from his early days with the Twins and then his days with the Red Sox. I think that is all you need to come to a conclusion. He is just as dirty as Big Mac, Bonds, etc...
