I am extremely happy to pick up my first Carolina Brights for only $240 plus juice. Lowest priced CB of the bunch in this auction!!

Anyone else have some good scores?

x2drich2000 09-20-2013 06:38 AM

Went quite a bit higher than I really wanted thanks to someone bidding me up yesterday afternoon, but I got this tuff little card for my set.

I woke up this morning at 5 AM and saw my bid had held up, so I felt good about the item I thought I had won.

Then, I got an outbid email at 5:38 AM when I checked my email again.

Insane! How late did this auction go?!

pgellis 09-20-2013 06:52 AM

It ended at 7:30am, Eastern Time.

I'm kinda glad - got outbid while asleep, on a card I had already gone to high on.

Curious as to who won the 51 Bowman Mantle SGC 84....

+1 actually +3. I was suffering from irrational exuberance last night. I'm really glad I was outbid.

Geeze... I just sold a copy of this card in the same grade last week for $5500.

I was happy to pick up the Meyers Polar Bear. This pickup leaves me needing just 3 PB backs to complete my collection!

Hard to believe someone paid over 11K for a 1962 Topps Koufax??

For a 1.5 that image really pops! Very nice.

Picked up these 2 beauties. E101 and the Collins is an EPDG. Went for the Bridwell sepia PC but punked out. Even so it went for less than I might of thought. Reason?

Phil, congrats. Those cards are sharp.

Edwolf1963 09-20-2013 11:50 AM

I won it.

Had some loose change laying around, so I thought I'd throw a bid in on it :D

Seriously - many of those T206 4, 4.5 and 5's were mine from the set I broke and sold largely in the June Auction. Congratulations to any that won, I think Phil got at least one of them! I kept upgrading that set and thought most of the cards were nicer for the grade. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I won two of the 1914 CJ's, the rest blew through my ceiling bid. Wow, they seem to be still growing in demand!

I picked up the Sporting News Supplements to get at this one that I have regretted 'de-acquisitioning' from my collection:

I thought I was going to win a couple of cards, including the blank back E92 Tinker, but prices just escalated. The price with the vig on the Tinker surprised me.....

MattyC 09-20-2013 12:40 PM

Copped the e90-2 Wags. Filled a big hole for me.

atx840 09-20-2013 02:13 PM

Very nice Scott...wish they made sweaters today like Wag's.

Runscott 09-20-2013 04:34 PM

Thanks Chris. His coats were even cooler (from a 1905 team photo):

I agree that one is extremely hard to believe for me too. That is his 8th year card. To the person who bought that I have a great deal here for you, I might be able to let this sweet beauty go for 10K if you are interested. Population of two right here.

I am not understanding the 1962 Koufax either. Especially considering that particular card sold last year for $3,600.

Great Collins Greg. I wanted to bid on it but did not register soon enough and wasn't able to bid. On the bright side if I see another one we won't bid each other up. :D Nice pickup!

Sean1125 09-20-2013 05:32 PM

Did it occur that the person who bought the Koufax may think they could get it bumped to a 10? Or 9.5?

Did you see the left to right centering?

bobbyw8469 09-20-2013 05:52 PM

9.5 does not exist (not with PSA or SGC anyway)

olrac44 09-20-2013 06:03 PM

The centering and looks like a slight touch on the bottom left corner would stop that from a 10.

I was so happy to have won this 1952 Topps Jake Pitler...it was my holy grail. After a short, bland career...Jake was a coach with the Dodgers at the time this card was printed. I didn't even know 52' topps had cards of coaches?!?! And to top it off...he was "jewish?!"

Who wants an early ruth card...or a rare caramel honus wagner...when I can have this gem!

I can now die happy knowing It only cost me around 6 large...food for a 1/2 a year...and should prove to be a sound investment in the future!:p

Mikehealer 09-21-2013 08:50 PM

So you're the one that outbid me, damn you Pete!!!

ullmandds 09-21-2013 09:09 PM

Better luck next time, Mike...I'm sure you're psa 9 common is out there somewhere!

cyseymour 09-21-2013 10:21 PM

Pete, that's awesome! Even I was admiring that card. Had no idea what religion he was, just that it was an awesome card.

HRBAKER 09-22-2013 08:45 AM

Pete,
Simply an amazing card.
Hope it raises your GPA. ;)

Runscott 09-30-2013 02:54 PM

Anyone receiving stuff from them yet?

wolterse 09-30-2013 03:27 PM

No, but bill has deposited my check. In my experience, it takes him about 1.5 to two weeks to get your winnings to you from the date of deposit.

Bill was at the Philly Show this weekend so I don't think he would have had much opportunity to send stuff out. He was gracious enough to bring my card to the show.

Nothing spectacular, but a card I needed nonetheless

GregMitch34 09-30-2013 04:42 PM

Received package from Goodwin today, Monday.

bxb 09-30-2013 05:05 PM

Got mine 9/27.

pgellis 09-30-2013 05:27 PM

Got mine last Thursday, Sept. 26

MattyC 09-30-2013 06:41 PM

Honus came home last Thursday. Great communication and service for my first time winning there. Will bid again fo sho.

Bicem 09-30-2013 07:54 PM

Great postcard Pete! Was watching that one closely.

terjung 09-30-2013 08:31 PM

Loved that postcard, Pete. Nice pick-up!

cyseymour 09-30-2013 09:47 PM

Still haven't sent the check yet, but it's coming...

Runscott 09-30-2013 10:16 PM

I haven't even received a shipped notification yet, and I paid by cashier's check.

It would be nice to have some sort of status on the 'my accounts' page, similar to what most of the major auction houses do. Normally I wouldn't really care much, but I'm moving in a week and didn't think this would be an issue.

cyseymour 09-30-2013 10:19 PM

You should probably call Bill and tell him that you are moving, ask him to wait on shipping it if he hasn't shipped yet. Would be better to have the card sent to your new address.

Runscott 09-30-2013 11:04 PM

It's a lot more than a card. If it isn't here in a couple of days I will call him. I didn't realize it was a one-man operation.

Runscott 10-03-2013 11:23 AM

How do they ship? (Fedex, UPS, etc)

Every card I won from Bill was shipped FEDEX.

Tony

Runscott 10-03-2013 12:43 PM

Thanks Tony. If I hear back from him I can have the package diverted to a Fedex location. Easy enough.

AndyG09 10-04-2013 02:41 PM

I know Bill has taken some flack for taking a while to pay, but I just received a check for my consignment today. I am very happy to have been paid quite quickly.

Best,

Andy
