Like passing a gallstone/kidney stone, it's a great relief when it's over! The Pirates have finally achieved mediocrity with their 82nd win of the season! Let's see all things Pirates!

Here's the tip of an iceberg of Pirates stuff I haven't photographed, from an infield rake from Forbes Field to a team signed ball from 1925. (It's not collectable, but I thought I'd add a picture of my son in absolute awe.)

Congratulations to the Pirates, and to the fans who have been hanging in there waiting for the ship to right itself.

Here's a recent-ish pickup and an obscure one that took me a while to track down.

Yes it is, and I'm a Brewers fan.

I'm pulling for the Bucs to win it all. They've been my second favorite team since I was a child, and I got a signed copy of "This Day in Pittsburgh Pirate History" from the author, who was a relative of a family friend. I have this book tucked away in storage somewhere.

Congrats to the Pirates, I'm still pulling for the Reds but have family in Pittsburgh and it's great to see them back to relevance in the city.

Those '72 photos bring back a lot of memories, I remember more of those players than of today's rosters.

I always thought Luke Walker was a look-a-like for Mickey Dolenz of the Monkees!

What a Pirates fan!!!

I gotta admit, the Pirates are probably my 'vintage' team. Here's a 1905 team cabinet as it will eventually look, two other cabinets of various 1909 players and an RPPC of Paddy O'Connor.

Runscott 09-11-2013 12:40 AM

two more of O'Connor. The second one is one of my favorite individual player cabinets.

Its been a long time since Sid Slid this thread can't go away that easily:D I will post some more meaningless Bucs trinkets as this thread is salve to this old Pirate fan's soul.

I just received the 1979 World Series press credentials. It is the first time I saw press credentials as they were originally issued. During that series I was 16 and my best friend was an Oriole fan. I made the mistake of watching the first four games at his house. He really enjoyed rubbing the salt in my wounds. I remember walking the three miles home in the rain after the Bucs dropped game four. I couldn't bear that smug smile and refused a ride in his car . As you know Pops and the Family took care of business and the world was made right.

I grew up to marry my high school girl friend and will be celebrating 24 years of marriage next week. I am now a happy, optimistic, if not mildly dysfunctional middle aged adult. My friend on the other hand developed a coke problem, never married, and is currently unemployed. Both he and John Lowenstien can still kiss my a**.

Trust me my family agrees with you. I am enjoying the moment and am terrified that the play off you refer to is of the one game variety. I chose to post the 60's shopping center give away instead of my 1970s Pirate coloring book. As for your Astros, my brother in law lives in Houston and shares your affliction. Although he is a much better player in Altuve you even have your own Freddy Patek;)

the 'stache 09-22-2013 02:35 AM

Incredible, simply incredible!!!! Your collections are amazing, guys. I can't tell you how much I am enjoying this.

The Pirates are two games back of the Cardinals, but virtually assured of taking one of the two Wild Card spots. Still, I want the Bucs to win the NL Central.

Wily Peralta is starting for the Brew Crew later today against the Cardinals, and while I always cheer for the Brewers, I am cheering all the louder today because if we beat the Cardinals, and you guys beat the Reds, the Pirates are a game out of first.

Good luck Jon! Unfortunately, I'm going down to Florida for awhile(who says that and means it?) and leaving Friday, otherwise I'd be going to all of the playoff games at PNC. They need to not play in Cincy for that one game play-in WC game, so these final games are huge.
