I picked up two cards of the three I needed for my 1908 Cubs set. I'm trying to get one card from each member of the team, and scored a Vin Campbell and a Del Howard! Only guy left is Andy Coakley. Wish he was in something less costly than the T204 set!

Brent, when I went over to pick up my dog this morning, I gave my CJ Ruth to the little girls who were watching her - they were elated to get a Babe Ruth card.

Did you see the painting it was created from? Awesome.

Made an impulse buy waaaaaay out of my collecting habits. I've always wanted an OJ, especially of nice crisp and bold images. I ended up with 9 lol, and gave one to my dad who actually OWNS one of the cameras that shot these gorgeous cards, and helped a small portion in the OJ book.

Nothing special, but hope you enjoy them as much as I do:

Hey Barry, good - about half way so far on the 1914's. I don't think I'm really going for the entire set -- to lay out the $$$ for Matty, Pratt, Wagner, Cobb, etc - I'd break the bank. But, as they say, the fun is in the search and collecting (or so I keep telling myself :))

Thanks for the nice feedback, hope all is well.

Sweet Banks Brent! Ever since meeting him last year at Harry Carray's, I've been tempted to bring my raw '54 Banks next time I'm in Chicago on business and just wander the streets, blue sharpie in hand until I found him again.

Thanks! Yeah was happy with the full 1 number grade bump (from an SGC 6) but it got the MC qualifier for obvious reasons lol. Yeah Banks was awesome. I didn't get Jackson, but he seemed like he was having a great time which was surprising from all the stories about him.

So much eye candy in this thread. Wow!

I can't thank you guys enough. With every new pickup thread, you are all broadening my horizons, so to speak.

Steven, that Honus CJ is gorgeous. From the scan, it presents much better than a 2.

Ian, great Frank Baker. Is that SGC slabbed, or is it free to hold in your hands?

Ed, you picked up two great cards. For somebody like me that is quite unfamiliar with the PW Cracker Jacks, it's a treat to see both Tris and Zach. I've never seen either card before. The expression on Mr. Wheat's face is priceless.

jtschantz, beautiful Eddie Plank. I doubt very much that I'll ever own a Plank T206, but when it comes time for me to pickup one of his cards, that's one I will seriously consider.

I'm really starting to love this set! Thank you all for sharing. I feel inspired!

Sean, this was a total impulse purchase. Something that I normally do not attempt. I did some quick research on my iPhone and as the show went on, I knew that I would kick myself if I didn't at least try to negotiate a deal. From what I was told and from some research I did last night, this is a winner's medal from the 1900 Paris Olympic Games. Watching American Pickers really helped me with my negotiation skills as I did a bundle purchase with this medal and a cast iron plaque from the 1936 Olympics games. I am still trying to do more research though.:D

Picked up a CJ McGraw (1915, but obviously box-pulled).

Also, T213 Cobb bat off, I actually didn't notice until after I'd purchased it but there is a light ghost image on the back.

I was determined not to have a repeat of last year's shutout. I flipped a bunch of Rose PC's and a K-Bats card for a D304 Cobb then, at the last minute, traded that for these N321's. Thanks to RM for the generous trade.

National Pick Ups :

It was great catching up with several Net 54er's! I was able to pick up my first Zeenut from Rhett Yeakley, and a 1939 Sporting News Southern Association Wall Schedule, as well as a Nashville Vol Uniform contract from 1946. (Vols/Cubs) My favorite pick up came as I was walking out the door on Day 3 heading for the airport... I am not sure what this is but I believe it to be a printing plate with a team on it. I thought it was cool, so I picked it up. I have collected cards, cabinets, post cards, but never have come across a team on a printing plate, so I had to have it. The picture actually is more clear than the plate as it is copper/metal with nails around the border on a wood block. This is just a bberry snapshot, but it actually made it more easier to see...

Great looking McGraw. Lip registration is perfect.

You say "box-pulled" like that's a bad thing :) I much prefer the box-pulled CJ's, stains and all. Nostalgia and all. I like to imagine the thrill/disappointment of the kid pulling the card, or the unthinkable even, that the card was a mere afterthought to the crunchy goodness waiting in the box.

I meant it as a good thing. As in, it's a 1915, but it's box-pulled (so it's more "legit" like a 1914.) I also really like the idea that someday 100 years ago, somebody pulled that card out of a CJ box while at a ballgame or something like that.

A also like the CJ box stains. And in T206s I really like polar bears with minor stains too.

appeal. And, an upgrade on the current one in my Super-Print subset . . .on in four Auctions. Of which, the AB 460 Crawfords went for crazy prices.

The Roush CJ is his rookie (look at that baby-face!) and it's my first Cracker Jack. I have no idea why it graded a 5, I couldn't find any wrinkles or surface flaws and three of the four corners are sharp. It looks like a 7 or 8 to me. The '33 Goudey Gehrig is my big buy from the Show, thrilled to own it!
