T206 Merkle back run
2 Attachment(s)
I've been working on this for years, finished it in January, then had to wait until now due to a surprise in the REA auction. Please forgive the format, these huge pictures are all I can manage.

I bought this one off ebay not realizing it was a 42. The seller didn't know either. I was shocked when I received the card.

nice Sean. You have a couple that are beyond tough with the brown Lenox and the Pirate. Job well done
|
I was in "awe" coming down through the black Lenox to the brown Lenox, seeing the beautiful Uzit, but upon seeing that Pirate back, my mind exploded. Awesome run from a fellow Merkle throwing collector (but with only 4 back variations).
Incredible! |
Amazing sean
Congrat |
You couldn't have picked a better T206 for a back run than the Merkle Throwing. Well done, man.

Great job Sean. It was no fight on the Pirate back. You clobbered me. It was sort of interesting in that 3-4 of the Pirate cards were hotly contested by a few of us that are on the board quite a bit and know each other.
|
Very nice run, congrats!
|
Wow! Awesome run...you could wait a lifetime for some of those!
|
That is one stacked run, and what a beauty to finish it off with. Congrats!
|
Outstanding! Now that is a phenomenal back run!
JimB |
So Sean....now what, man? :) Upgrades? New player? And why Merkle to begin with?

Kawika, thank you very much. I love that photo, I can really get a good look at that old 1st baseman's glove. Thank you for sharing that. :)

Jason, JimB, Peter and Chris, thank you very much.
Chris gets an assist with this run because he stayed up all night in the chatroom and kept me company even though he didn't have any cards of his own to watch. Next time you'll get some print error or scrap for yourself. :) |

wow, that is seriously an amazing back run!

Phenomenal run Sean. As I continued to scroll down, I thought, well it can't get much more impr-, wait --- Brown Lenox? I love the Pirate example!
If you are going to at all, how are you going to display them? . |
Congrats on the run.:)
What's next a Cobb back run? |
Pfffft.... you didn't even have to track down a BL 460?? Easy peasy...
:D j/k obviously, that's a great run! The Pirate back might be overdoing it. ;) |
Thank you Derek. And Jake, I don't know what's next. I suppose I will add a few cards, maybe upgrade here and there, until I can think of another fun project. I'll let you know... :D

And I suppose that you could argue that the Pirate back is overkill. :D |

Here is why Merkle: In 2004 I bought an Uzit that just happened to feature Merkle. In 2005 I saw a Brown Lenox in a Lew Lipset auction, and I had to have it. It also featured Merkle. Having those two to start with, I always said I would make this run, though I didn't begin in earnest until 2008. So as you can see, the run was an accident. But after those first two, I had to do it. :) Good luck with Mcgraw. |
Sean, very nice and quite the job putting these together congrats!
Love the T215 and all the others. Cheers, John |
Not bad.

And Wonka, thanks again. I'm glad you were going for the Lord and not the Merkle. :D |

Dude...
you have to be one of the most advanced T206 collector:D |
Sean
Fantastic stuff....you conquered the "Monster" with respect to Merkle. Is there a possibility of finding an EPDG card of this Merkle ? TED Z __________________________________________________ ____________________________ LOOKING FOR these T206 guys to complete my AMERICAN BEAUTY 460 sub-set AMES....CAMNITZ....CRAWFORD (bat)....DOYLE (port)....JORDAN (bat)....McGRAW (port-cap) McQUILLAN (bat)....TINKER (bat off)....Wiltse (portrait-cap) |
Sean,
Nice back run. Pirate back was a great addition to your run. Glad it went to you. |
Amazing back run
|
Thanks Kane and Johnny. And thank you Jaime. I'm lucky that there were 5 Pirates for sale. Imagine if I had to outbid Wonka to get it.

Sean
There's approx. a dozen guys of the 48 subjects in the 460-Only series that have not been confirmed with the EPDG back.
Perhaps, Merkle will eventually be found with the EPDG back. I can think of other T206's that are very rarely found with EPDG....Crawford (throwing) and Lundgren (Cubs) immediately come to mind. I'll be searching for you. TED Z |
That would be great. Thanks Ted. :)
|
I love the Pirate backs, I really wish they weren't so scarce and were as common as Pied. and SC, they just look cool.
