What card (s) would you be willing to spend over 10 000$ to own it?
For me there are only 4 cards that I would be truly willing to spend that kind of money and on:
-1909 E90-1 Caramel Shoeless Joe Jackson (my max would be a graded 2); -T206 Eddie Plank (my max would be a graded 2 or 3); -1933 Goudey Nap Lajoie # 106 (my max would be a nice authentic one...like the super nice one they just had at the REA) and -1952 Topps Mickey Mantle (my max would be a graded 4) The 1916 Ruth rookie is now to expensive for my taste!!! Even if I had 200 000$ to spent those are the only 4 I would go over 10 000$ for. I know some of you are going to say super expensive cards but be honest would you really pay 400 000$ for a T206 Wagner...I know I could not do it even if I had 2$ million dollars to spend....I would rather own a super nice cottage and go there on weekends (I own a condo right now so the outdoors would be awesome...don't get me wrong I love the condo life as well during the week) to fish and make barn fires and BBQ....that would be just great...with my brother and his wife and my niece. I suspect I will eventually make a play for a low grade plank.

$ 10,000 cards on want list
There are several I would pay that much for, but all are post war

I just mean a simple small fire that me and my family can sit around and cook marshmallows and hotdogs. Post # 7 |
The only one I can think of off-hand that I might spring that kind of money for is the 1911 Zeenut Bohen (full card)
|
any hall of famer darby choclates complete box ,,,:)
|
B18 Ty Cobb Red Infield
1910 Tip Top Honus Wagner |
Well, the first three that come to mind are:
N172 Con Doyle. 1921 Tip Top Groves. N167 Ewing. |
T206 Doyle variation (not realistic, they cost $200k);
Kieth Olbermann's T206 Collins proof; Leon's t206 Mullaney/Cy Young ghost; and the Merkle/Pirate in the last REA. :D |

Under the assumption I could hold off on buying lesser cards to actually save enough to pay $10k+ for a card, I would get a 1887 Kalamazoo Pittsburgh Alleghenys team card and a Plank. Since it isn't realistic for me to save money, I would trade these four cards for either one :)

Leon, what did Rob do, drive it directly to your home personally?

Any card with a Ruth and Gehrig autograph (probably a 4 on 1). For 10K it would have to have the other 2 also.
|
T210 Joe Jackson and Casey Stengel in high grade.
|
I'm digging the E107's lately. I'd take a high end Breisch Williams Plank over the T206 any day.

E107 Matty (probably my favorite card in the hobby)
1914 CJ Cobby (nice mid grade) T206 Plank |
I tried to pay $20,000 for a '33 Goudey Saturday night, but two other bidders kicked me in the balls and then fought it out with each other.
I was discarded :( |

This is a tough question to answer in the abstract. Given a sufficient windfall, I can think of several cards I might pick up, including a CJ Jackson and 52 T Mantle.
|
1- 1933 goudey lajoie
2- m101 rookie ruth |
W600 Honus Wagner in street clothes or uniform - either one :D

Ok ok ok :) if i had 10 000 ++. To spend now on a card , my buy will be a rookie Ruth :) |
My 10K
I'd put $5K to my credit card, then put the other $5K towards my kids' Eductation IRAs. I know that's pretty boring, but that's the way it is at the moment...

Forgot the green Cobb miscut & Engle/Phillippe miscut.

I would invest half of it in low risk mutual funds and then take the other half over to my friend Asadulah who works in securities...

Boston Store Ruth
Rookie Rookie Boston Store Jackson A few other Jackson's although I would never spend 200K on a T210 Why did you pick 10K, it's a good sizable number and there aren't a ton of cards that go for more then that on a regular basis. James G |

I might pick a 1915 Cracker Jack Shoeless Joe Jackson as my pre war buy, or a really nice 1951 Bowman Mickey Mantle for post war.

I'd travel back to 1909 in a time machine and buy up all the cigarette packs I could with the money, which would be a lot for 10Gs!
Of course the flaw to my plan here is my dependency on a fully functional time machine. Oh and the second flaw would be travelling back to 1909 with 2013 currency. :( Adrian, got a stash of 1909 coins I could borrow? :D |

Brent, you're absolutely right. Where is my head? I've only watched the BTTF trilogy 10 times from start to finish. /face palm
What I'd give to have a time machine! I know a lot of people would use it so they could be rich. Me? My first though would be "holy crap, I'm going back in time to see the Babe call his shot." |

Take me! I have plenty of pre-1910 coins we could use. Heck I have actual dollar bills and silver dollars! We can even stock up on Brooklyn Atlantics cards with this 1865 fortune...$0.16! |
