Feller
Some 52 master sets types believe there are 2 "variations" of the Feller card. They are sometimes described as a clear or hazy background. Some point out that on some versions little or none of the lines are visible on the card. Although, Like the 52 Crandall red or orange background "variation" it seems more like a minor printing difference to me, that has not stopped me for looking for a good example of both :)

Nice pick ups, guys! A good start to the month, indeed!

Mantles on Mantles
Colby, would love to have those three in a poker hand.
Hey, don't you already have the '59 from the Cow-In-The-House find? |
Quote:
I'm actually trying to sell those sets from the "cow find" so I can buy more t206s:D:D:D. Sadly that means I will be left with three less Mantles :( Currently I'm looking for a Baseball Card Anonymous group near by... |
Colby, where did you get the Mantles?
If you're able to drive somewhere first thing in the morning, and pick up an assortment of PSA graded vintage Mantles, I just might have to move. We don't have anything like that down here in Texas, save for the occasional card show. |
Quote:
Well first, you need to find a woman who rides horses for a living (particularly English). Second, attend all horse shows she rides in. Third, ask everyone who sits near or even remotely close to you if they have baseball cards. Fourth, find the people who do have cards then ask to see if you can look at their cards. Lastly, offer them money for cards. (Works well if you live in the middle of no where in Oklahoma :p) |
Horse Shows
I have attended a lot of horse shows all over Texas and have yet to run into anyone who had baseball cards or wanted to talk about them. I have a lot of them but either brought them with me or bought them elsewhere. I have have been to Oklahoma a few times but failed to ask anyone about baseball cards while there. If I get back I will give it a try :-)
Enjoyed your story Do you know Roger Neufeldt ? |
I'd think there would be a good amount of Mantles in OK. Obviously I guess a person needs to use your ingenuity to find them.
I wonder how many there are in Commerce? :) |
Commerce....
....or Dime Box

Here's my dime box. Figure that one out:) It's also where a lot of my card money goes too. Attachment 95343

Dime Box...
....is in Lee County Texas, 78250, population 834. You are welcome to all the Mantles you can find there...or apparently in the other Dime Box above

By the way the '52 PSA 8(oc) is insane. You definitely have a drool worthy Mantle collection... |
Thanks, for the comment Tanman7baseball.
The 60 Post Cereal was a thrill and got in the mail a few days ago. REALLY NICE> Glad to know theres another Mantle collector on here. I wish these Registrys all kept track of ALL the TPG's ..I got a mix of all 3 graders. By the way the '52 PSA 8(oc) is insane. You definitely have a drool worthy Mantle collection...... I need to see this collection ^^^^^^^^ |
Mantle
I guess none of us knew what any of us was talking about. That is not unusual for me. Glad we are back on track
|

Nice card Jose!! Great centering!
Aaron tell that Hollywood Starlet to watch that sun!! (I've been fighting skin cancer for the last year...operations...skin grafts....NOT a trip to Disneyland):D Dave. |
61 Mantle
There's another goodlooking Mantle! Nice pick up. Great centering as well.
|
That's a beautiful '61 Mantle, Jose.
|
Jose, I have always been somewhat nonplussed with 61Ts in general. But that Mantle just changed my mind.
|
61 Mantle
Sure is a beauty

Colby! Wow man, you're an animal (I mean that in a good way). Nice cardboard dude!! Dave.:D
|
i almost got to say.. That Mays blows me away. Nice material.
FYI....guys the items i recently pick-up, just sent to the post office for SGC grading 1. 1960 Post Cereal/Grape Nuts 2. 1929 Shoew Japanese Babe Ruth "UnMarked" postcard 3. 1965 Joe Namath SP/Rookie card (tall boy)------just because people want to buy it. |

Mantle Clutch Home Run
I love that card. I actually went to one game of the 64 Series in St Louis. Topps really messed up with this card which shows Mantle wiffing on a Gibson fastball. The actual HR was hit off Barney Schultz

of Mantle and Mays...yeah raw...but they went for double the BV...CRAZY!!! Currently have some bids out for the next few days...theres something i really like to have..(sorry not telling) Heritage has some NICE 52's #311 graded cards-- low grades..Reasonable!! Only if i had the $$$. i most certainity get one. Theres like 4 of them if i remember and they have some higher end one...like a Berk Ross i want too. ** Everyone chip in some money,, and we can do a timeshare program :D BTW- i looked at the REA auction....there a decent Koufax RC and AUTO...but its a 4 and a slight un-noitceable crease...still appealing for a average collector. |

Found my poor mans Mantle RC (SGC 20) on Heritage! Better watch out! |

almost forgot----they do have a COLLECTION of 1960 POST CEREAL.....for those that didnt enough from my pics...LOOK at THIS:
http://sports.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleN...No=80694#Photo 1960 Post Cereal "Sports Stars" Complete Set (9) Plus Mantle Cereal Box or Store Display Ad. The immediate response to "rarely offered" is often a roll of the eye balls. Not this time. The thought of acquiring a rarely offered complete set of all nine 1960 Post Cereal athletes, a line up topped by Mickey Mantle is an envious gaze, made the more so by an almost impossible Mantle advertising piece. Their large size and circulation as the back of cereal boxes has resulted in a supply which sadly fails to meet demand. The 1960 Post Cereal set is highly treasured by hobbyists all too well accustomed to not finding any after pursuing auction catalogs and dealer tables. Their rarity confirmed after decades of the Internet has failed to produce any notable extra supply. The beautifully made, full-color, 7 x 8-3/4" cards came one per box, consuming most of the back panel of Post Grape-Nut Flakes boxes. Each measures full size or is 1/16 shy unless noted. Representing multiple sports, the set includes the following Hall of Famers: Bob Cousy (7x8-5/8"), Don Drysdale (FR, tape) plus side panel bio, Frank Gifford, Al Kaline plus side panel bio, Harmon Killebrew, Mickey Mantle (6-1/2 x 8-1/2"), Eddie Mathews (6-7/8" x 8-11/16", light tape stains), Bob Petit and Johnny Unitas. Also included is a 6-1/2" x 9" ad card with Mickey Mantle that was hand cut from either some type of store display piece or more than likely from a Post cereal box announcing the upcoming promotion. Each has creases largely limited to the black inner frame and wood border areas and are technically GD with better visual appeal. Guide Value or Estimate: $3,000 - HERIATGE IS JUST FLOODED WITH MICKEY MANTLES IN THIS AUCTION!!!![/SIZE] |
Had some bids in today...and from MemoryLaneInc.
1. Got outbidded far beyond what i thought BV was on a Topps stand-up PSA 4, i figured around 150 BV, but expected to pay near 200, because i desired to have one..but it went for around 225 or so. 2. Only bidded on it, just because it was a PSA 6..and i didnt have one yet. Looked good enough to grab...and i did WIN for about 1/2 the price. http://i1240.photobucket.com/albums/...psefc847df.jpg |
