Show off your t206 Printer Marks

2 Attachment(s)
Hey all! I was looking through my collection this weekend and was very excited to find out that my t206 McGraw has a little printer mark on the bottom. Just thought it was neat to find one on one of my own cards without knowing it was there before. I would like to see everyone else's printer marks as well! Please feel free to share :)

g_vezina_c55 12-16-2012 06:53 PM

I just look at my cards and i have a covaleski piedmont with a blue line on back !

t206blogcom 12-16-2012 07:22 PM

An interesting mark that I've shown a couple of times before...

[QUOTE=wazoo;1063550]Jason: Printing plate scratch? [QUOTE]

Not sure. Looks like a partially formed letter of some sorts.

t206blogcom 12-16-2012 07:57 PM

Top left corner on reverse. Missing color on front too. :)

Wow! I'd love a card missing color in my collection ;) Great card Jason.

The mark on your Ganzel card looks like the Nike Symbol.

Larry
Here is one identical to yours on the Bresnahan with mark top of card, medially.

Jantz 12-17-2012 01:54 AM

The card on the left was posted by z28jd in post #4.

The card on the right ended on Ebay recently.

Twins?

Jantz

joeadcock 12-17-2012 02:48 AM

Jantz

Yes, like the Bresnahan's, those other 2 cards with identically placed marks. Suppose this means came from same printing press.

Jantz 12-17-2012 10:31 AM

Hi Joe

So we know the cards you and Larry posted are Bresnahan (with bat).

The card I posted is also Bresnahan (with bat) and if I'm corrrect, the card z28jd posted is also a Bresnahan (with bat).

Makes things kinda interesting. :)

Jantz

z28jd 12-17-2012 11:14 AM

You are correct, that is a Bresnahan with bat I posted. The others are Oldring/fielding(SC), two Arndt's together and Kisinger(hard to see one)

Both cards are Sullivan, yet the marks are on the top and bottom, hmmm :)

wonkaticket 12-20-2012 03:28 PM

It’s funny if you start stacking these cards or getting bunches of these you start to notice all sorts of color variations and shades etc. Just another neat thing about this and other sets for collectors to look for.

http://photos.imageevent.com/piojohn.../large/005.jpg

I do think a lot of these missing color cards have as much too due with exposure as the printing process but still neat.

sb1 12-20-2012 04:26 PM

These Reulbach's are from different series and color variations are to be expected, they are not missing colors.

wonkaticket 12-20-2012 04:55 PM

Scott noted sorry wasn’t implying the above was missing color was simply showing color variations are all over the place with this set. Here is a missing color card on the left, and one more below.

http://photos.imageevent.com/piojohn...ge/9Willis.jpg

sb1 12-20-2012 05:06 PM

Gotcha, that is a missing color card.

wonkaticket 12-20-2012 05:10 PM

Yeah Willis is missing his stadium...I wonder what happened to all the poor people. :)

Printers marks...

Now that is the real deal, when you see the word "Proof" bandied about that is exactly what one should see. Nice!

Elberfeld - YELLOW BROWN:

How could you not want an impossible combo???these scraps are the alternative T206 set.....where the collectors can truly own a unique, rare, one of a kinds, snowflakes!!!!each scrap is different in its own right, a T206 set that NOONE ELSE CAN OWN...is one of my dreams.......besides you know the wagner for me....PHEW!! this card is also a work of art

i'm getting weak and already have said to much and probably will make it impossible for myself to purchase my sweet scraps, but alas i can't hold it in...:o

wonkaticket 12-21-2012 04:27 PM

Thanks Johnny, I just love you’re enthusiasm on these things I swear if I could bottle your excitement and sell it I would be a billionaire. :)

If anyone ever finds a yellow/brown Wagner I fear for your health! :D

I don’t have many missing color 3 or 4 but I agree they really are neat.

Cheers,

John

z28jd 12-21-2012 06:26 PM

For those of you that have never met Johnny V in person, he is exactly like you would assume from his writing. I have no idea how he has held a serious job with responsibilities all these years, but I know once he gets out of work he is a different person the entire time. He has a true passion for t206 cards like no one else

mrvster 12-21-2012 09:03 PM

Johnny D....

Thanks Johnny!!
i owe it all to you.......you started this monster inside me......during the day i'm a professional, (kinda LOL), at night i'm a T206 freak with no life living on ebay hunting for freaks constantly.....it's a tuf job, but someone has to bring the freaks back to the land of the misfit toys:D...

and if a scrap surfaces, i start to twitch;)

hank_jp 12-21-2012 09:27 PM

Johnny

Reading your emails is like hearing your voice in my head with all the enthusiasm and excitement that you always bring to a T206 conversation ... and it always brings a smile to my face!!!

John (Wonka), seeing the images of the cards you have been amassing, with an eye for quality and rarity is a delight! I am reminded of the get together at my son Scott's house years ago when a number of us brought our cards to show each other and talk about this fun hobby of ours.
Maybe it's time to do it again. I know I would enjoy seeing you guys (and your cards) once more.
If there is interest let's start a seperate thread and see what develops.

Hank

wonkaticket 12-21-2012 09:30 PM

Hank agree its time for another get together! Happy holidays to you and Scott.

mrvster 12-21-2012 09:40 PM

Print mark along with a large print flaw during the blue pass. There may also be some lettering along R side, but to subtle for me to tell for certain.

I'd probably agree with atx840, but we'd need a better scan first.

Larry, I agree with Chris. I believe it to be skinned. As a soaker supreme, you would know if that was scrapbook paper added to the back.:D

wazoo 01-22-2013 07:17 PM

Too bad, it's a great looking card. At first I was like dang! He got a cool blank backed Joss!

Joe Doyle printer's mark

Remnant printer's mark on the Joe Doyle card (center)....after the 1st printing plate erasure of the "Nat'L" lettering on the error card. The caption in the rightmost
card is clean. The majority of the Joe Doyle cards have a clean caption as this one. My sampling of 200+ different Joe Doyle cards over the past 6 years indicates
that approx. 8 % of the Joe Doyle cards have this printer's mark. And, I expect that a larger sampling will eventually yield even a smaller number than 8 %.

Great info Ted! Thanks for sharing. This brings me to my next question though...I have a Joe Doyle, SGC 50 and it seems to have a partial "Y" in the N.Y. There is no paperloss, so it makes me wonder if it is a printer mark or just lack of ink on the printing plate.

tedzan 01-23-2013 08:20 AM

Wazoo

I have also seen one of those. In my opinion, it is more of a printing flaw, rather than a printer's mark.

Others may differ with this observation of mine.

TED Z

wazoo 01-23-2013 08:26 AM

I seem to agree. I feel that it has something to do with the printing plate, and maybe it was just missing a little ink when the card was pressed.

MVSNYC 01-28-2013 12:21 PM

Ted- at the left, that's the fake Doyle error, correct? the type face is totally different then an original unaltered T206. also the "AT'L" should be smaller in height then the "N".
