Rich- I believe Bruce was just reinstated. Hopefully he will start posting again.

Just curious, but do you miss Bruce Dorskind, or do you miss the drama, tension, and debate that was created with almost every one of his condescending threads?

Almost every thread had a personal agenda, or it focused on a financial aspect of the hobby. Rarely, if ever, was any knowledge shared or scans shown. Each thread, while mildly entertaining, ended up in a train wreck.

Nah, I don't miss that.

There are many I would like to miss but I am sure they feel the same way about me.

Anyway, Bruce was great entertainment.

If Bruce (hi Bruce) behaves he can contribute a lot of hobby experience and knowledge to the board. If not then .....we have some short lived entertainment.

I used to lurk on the old net54 a whiiiilllleee ago - I believe there was a guy named Hal Lew1s? He was great; very smart guy.. He literally won everything... If my memory is correct he had a Wagner at one point as well..

Hal was great and he had a world class collection. I was very disappointed when his website went down and I couldn't peruse his stuff anymore. He had great knowledge too.

Marshall and I didn't get along all that well, but looking back, some of his posts were pretty funny. They had absolutely nothing to do with baseball cards, but they were funny.

Archive had his moments, but I vote for Peter as well.

WE miss Bruce’s posts as well. They tended to make us laugh and feel a bit uncomfortable at the same time. They had a real Curb Your Enthusiasm feel to them.

I forgot about that Peter, that wasn't funny at all. But I remember he used to regale us with tales of his prodigious sex life (real or imagined). I guess he felt a baseball card chatboard was the ideal place to brag about it.

Barry, he was a vulgar asshole, plain and simple.

Well he was a jerk, I can't argue that. But in between the vulgarity he did occasionally come up with a few funny lines. I hated the way he insulted Joann, and she pretty much left the board after that.

Yeah, I miss Joann too. She was a firecracker and really knew her stuff. She was great on the old board.

Bruce (Yankeesfan51) apparently insults everyone for a marketing ploy. Not quite sure why he figured he needed to do that but I guess he figured it worked for Andrew Dice Clay (for a while).

Peter Chao....now that was a funny one. I could never figure out if he was really like that in "real life" or whether this was some internet persona.

I would have to say I miss Marshall the most though. And don't forget to Bring the Noise.

I think the Board is a much better place without Bruces, Chao and the Barkman. I do really miss Joann and Elliott. Julie was just weird. Hal and JC both had divorce problems which resulted in their disappearance from the Board as well as their collections, at least that was the word I heard. Both were great collectors and I enjoyed dealing with both of them. I am sure there have been other collectors who have had that happen to them and are no longer around.

Everytime I see Leon, he always mentions I made this post the very day Bruce was reinstated. I always have to remind him that if I were that psychic I would have already hit the lottery several times over.

What happened to Julie? (I would call her eccentric, and there's nothing wrong with that)

I was digging around for something on an old back-up drive, and found images of JC's old collection. Pretty amazing stuff.

Back on the old board, the live chat section was vibrant. Almost every night there was 12 - 20 people in there. Folks that would never post much on the front pages would be very active on the chat board. Some real funny folks used to play in there. Trevor H, Wes L, Richard W and Quan come to mind.

On big auction nights some of the old guys get together, and some of them don't normally post. It's a lot of fun.
