A tougher, early card of Joe Sewell.................
|
Does writing on the front affect value ?
http://imagehost.vendio.com/a/204295...HIBITS_NEW.JPG
.....is it remotely possible that the signatures are actual autographs ? They were in a collection of old postcards I bought a long time ago ; when did the broad-tip "pen" become widespread ? I know squat of the autograph world . Thanks for any answers , regards , MikeGarcia |

|
Mike,
Man, the Cobb is a beauty! Congrats on adding that to your fine collection. Best, Andy |
#208, thanks to another board member
Doug (Phillies Phan) found this one in a larger lot that he recently won. He contacted me mid week last week and it arrived to join the others. Thanks, Doug, and everyone who has ever helped.

Nice one Phil, never seen that card before

From Sterling
Don't get the grade designation. Oh well. Buy the card, not the grade, right? ;)

@Mike Garcia..........both those autos look pretty good to me. Those guys could both have signed with sharpies........I have signatures in my collection that are very similar........popular medium to have autographed too.......
|
Thanks, Matt.

The July (latest) pickup was the American Beauty back. Thanks to Chris Browne for stitching this all together for me with Photoshop. I thought it would be fun to post the group together even though only the AB is a July pickup.

Great pick ups, Derek
|
Thank you Derek! Very nice pickups, love that Irvin.
|
As ugly as it looks, it is still beautiful to me.
Thanks to Todd for the card. Have it shadowboxed on my desk at home. This encapsulates everything about what I think a 100 year old card should look like. http://i.imgur.com/fdn7L.jpg |
I got these three beauties and another really nice card, in what was for me at least a very big straight up trade.

Haven't seen one of these, and since I collect pre-1912 Iowa baseball post-cards, had to have it. Wonder what "...and you can have me" meant in 1908?

Was able to add a Detroit type card to my collection from the SF Hess Newsboys League. Thank you Dan McKee! I've been wanting a nice Detroit example for awhile. I'm sure this little guy was a big fan of the Detroit Wolverines.

Oj's

Was able to knock off two very scarce* OJ cards at one time thanks to Joe's Vintage Cards (*according to the Miller,Gonsowski,Masson Old Judge book, I am not a plant for them, just a reference :) )

T206 Ed Konetchy - Glove Near Ground Pied Fact 42
Picked up my 3rd Piedmont Factory 42 off e-bay last week. Won it the day my e-bay bucks hit, so it only cost me a fraction of winning bid :D Has back stamp ( Garwood Jaynes ) which as many of you know, I actually like back stamps. Sorry for the fuzzy scans...

Ralph,
Glad you got that card, very nice. Quote:

Great DiMaggio Bulldog. I like the logic too. If you need to miss part of a card, let it be the border.
|
Thanks Andrew --- Ralph

1885 Harper's Weekly
2 Attachment(s)
I am uber excited to have picked up this early (earliest?) Buck Ewing. There are plenty of notable HOFers on this complete 1885 Harper's Weekly Woodcut:
|
Very nice pick-up, Derek, I used to own that one and loved it with all of the HOF'ers. There is an individual woodcut of Ewing pictured in an 1882 issue of the New York Clipper, had that one too and sold it a little while back. I believe that there is also an earlier c1880 Troy team photograph out there, that one is sure to cost in the thousands, maybe even five-figures.

38 Goudey Heads Up Foxx
2 Attachment(s)
Well, picked up this signed Jimmie Foxx 1938 Goudey Heads Up for a steal on the bay in looking at comparables. It got certified through PSA/DNA (which I don't care, I want a slab protection on the card). And would like to give Jim and Richard a shout out again for their help. Will post pics in slab upon receipt.
