2 T206 Mysteries
Can anyone identify both of them? (Johnny, stop drooling)
http://runscott.homestead.com/Cards/T206Mystery.jpeg |
Bescher
I assume the individual on the Piedmont back is Bescher, Cincinnati from the reverse player name on the bottom of the card under the factory stamp.
Not sure of the other... |
The transfer on the back appears to be T206 Bescher.
Not sure about the one on the front yet. |
uh
Joe Jackson and Ty Cobb. Do I win?
|
Lol mordecaibrown - identical response time :)
I think the front transfer is Chase Blue or Pink Portrait. (leaning towards pink since it's in red) |
Schlei portrait... right?
I'd recognize that shoulder anywhere... Schlei portrait, correct?
|
Creepy.

Darn - I thought you were right, then I posted the image and realized that you were not. Good guess. |
Chief Meyers
Ill take a guess that the other picture is Chief Meyers Portrait - looks like the right jaw line and nose/mouth.
Thats my other guess besides Bescher. And yes Trae - great minds and timing on that earlier one. |

Also not Meyers, Chase or Schlei. |
Duh... Wiltse
I always get the Wiltse (portrait with cap) and Schlei portraits confused...
|
I did an overlay of Chase Pink in Photoshop and it fit A+ for the front transfer. I'm pretty confident that's who it is.
|
The front overlay looks kind of like Jennings portrait.
|
Wiltse - do I win a card!
|

Here's Wiltse, consulting his ghostly advisor: http://runscott.homestead.com/Cards/...PortGhost.jpeg |
Oh... yep... Wiltse is a perfect fit in Photoshop. The front is the same card. Good call. :)
|
And sweet frickin' card, by the way! :D

These two were among about 500 raw T206's and T205's I just received - no other anomalies, but as many oddball T206's as I've owned, this Wiltse might be my favorite. |
Scott!!
You've been bitten again!!LOL
when u get sick of those cards..........;) please ....please...pleaseLOL:D |

wet sheet
Scott!
i see it....i have a polar bear front /wet sheet on a sweet cap!! i'll see if i can get a scan... Thank God your back:D finally another veteran freak like meLOL:D |
usually a card with a dull wet sheet like that is really 2 cards that was stored tightly for many years together so the ink transferred that way, especially if it was humid.
I had thousands of Oakland Invader bumperstickers (with a radio ad on back) all rubber banded together for 25+ years and now 99.9% are basically ruined because of this... |

As soon as I saw the Wiltse in the first post, it reminded me of another T206.
Wilson (not mine) Nice cards by the way! Jantz |
I used to be a middleman for an eccentric collector who had three (possibly more) 'Ty Cobb' backed Ty Cobbs. Another showed up and he said "get if for me". I replied, "Why?, you've got three." He responded, "That card belongs in my collection - it should not belong to anyone but me." His attitude kind of creeped me out at the time, but...
...I need that Wilson - it belongs with my Wiltse. |

My one and only - that I know of. I prefer the off set (double image) on the front vs. stuff on the backs.

Hey Scott
I remember you having 2 upside down backs and they did really well on ebay but I passed on them because I picked this one up for 30 bucks in a group of Sweet Caps Attachment 50972 Attachment 50973 |
Quote:
Yes, the Huggins was one of them. I picked up those two in a huge lot of ungraded cards from Mastro - I paid way too much for the lot, but just wanted a bunch of cards to sort through, so it satisfied my craving. Those two cards helped me to break even on the lot - there weren't any keepers in it other than those two. I found ALL the scans of my old T206 collection, and have 'culled' the tough backs and 'printers scrap'. I'm thinking of doing a small website with nothing but freak cards like this, grouping them by type, and inviting you all to send scans for inclusion. |
Those upside down backs are cool. I've had a few miscuts but nothing upside down. Johnny got this one from me...
http://i1023.photobucket.com/albums/...06Hemphill.jpg But I still have these two modest miscuts: http://i1023.photobucket.com/albums/...6MattyComb.jpghttp://i1023.photobucket.com/albums/..._WhiteComb.jpg |
Another White, from the same series/factory, but upside-down:

Just for Johnny V because he talked about these cards today with me at my work. This scan is upside down, it is four cards, three of them came from one old collection, the older looking one was just a lucky buy that had no back scan

He won't be able to tape the cards together so don't worry, I put them in a plastic mold so they are impossible to get to without destroying the cards in the process |
Hi John D.

I'm curious.....what players are pictured on the front of your 4-card (or 6-card) panel ? Best regards, TED Z |

I havent seen the Bricktown show listed for about 2 years now, unless I totally missed it I'd say they stopped it. I work about a mile from where they hold it and they usually advertise it weeks in advance and I believe the last one I went to was 2009 |
t206
Johnny,
those are going look so sweet with my others!;) The Brick show Suked;) 2009 last one |
Known adjacent cards. Any more name on top/side by side scans out there?
http://i.imgur.com/jwiN2.jpg |
Chris
There are other T206s out there with 2 different names. My count at the moment is 21 different T206s. 6 of those 21 are in your post As far as side by side miscuts that show 2 different players. I was aware of 6 until this thread. Your Murray and the Stephens posted earlier are new ones to me. Any chance that you could post the back info on the Murray (back brand-series-factory number)? I do have scans & back info for most of these T206s, but unfortunately due to PC problems, I don't have access to the scans at the moment. Some of the info is available though and I will pass it along to you if you like. Jantz |
|
I had this one at one time. Sold it to someone here (can't recall who).
Chase with Zimmerman on top. http://i1023.photobucket.com/albums/...tachment-1.jpg |

Nice work Chris
Excellent work; I don't know for sure, but it might be possible to determine the multi-pose subjects on "top" based on the the back + series.
For example, the Bradley-Bender is a P150 and based on the "Consolidated Lists" thread, only the Bender Portrait is in P150. |
If it can be confirmed which pose that would be great, I have very little back info on these.
