March Pickup Thread
My second SC350 Factory 30 with Factory Stamp
Okay-okay, so it's only like 5% of a factory stamp. Has anyone seen a full number 30 stamp though? I've seen 4 or 5 now, with none more than around 30% visible. http://www.collectorfocus.com/images...2373/spade-bob |
My T216s....
|
|
Trae,
Yes full ones are out there, I know of a board member that has a stellar Matty Port with a full #30 on the back. Perhaps he will share.... Cheers, John |
Nice! Thanks, John - I'd love to see - hopefully he'll post it.

It is never a bad day when you get a Matty in the mail. Thanks Cy.
|
Great Chance!
|
Nice pickup Mike. I was sort of hoping the transaction would fall through so I could get the Matty!

Great pickups Cosmo on the T216s....I think that is the first Barry I have seen.
|
thanks
Gabrinus,
Thanks! These have been so hard to find. They do go nicely with my others as i continue my quest to complete the set. Now I just need to get them off to PSA or SGC... I'm still undecided which! |

1919 Reds
Very pleased to add this postcard of Daubert to my Reds collection. The fact that it is addressed to a nearby town adds to my enjoyment.
Thanks to Tony Andrea on the BST! RC http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...akeDaubert.jpg |

I'm very excited to add this trimmed T4 Obak cabinet to my collection. Special thanks to board member Mark for selling it to me. I plan on having it matted and framed.
Patrick |
Way cool - thanks, Jim!
Loving that no-name Waddell above too... nice card. |
Calvindog actually beat Don Spence out of that Exhibits Cobb ! That's an extraodinary feat in itself. I did that one time just to prove I could, and still paying for it !! :D Great card.
|
1 Attachment(s)
I know it's a modern tribute card, but I've been looking for this HOF'er RC for awhile now - very pleased!. At least it depicts a fantastic vintage team.

Trae and Jim,
NICE FACT #30!!:D great cards u you just picked up Trae:) Jim, that is one sweet fact #30 stamp... John-WOW!! a full fact 30 stamp is out there?????? Peace Johnny |
Thanks, Isaac, and Johnny :)
Isaac, they're SGC A trim jobs unfortunately, but I'm a sucker for eye appeal (and they're mighty affordable!). |

Just came today...
|
Hey Dan, where is the "Big League Chewing Gum" on the bottom of the Goudey Vaughan? I thought all 1933's had that (except Lajoie, of course). Something I don't know about? Wouldn't be the first time!
|
Quote:
I don't think any card after #190 or so has the "Big League Chewing Gum" designation on the front of the card. There are also some prior to #190 that don't have it either such as #112 (Schulte), #142 (Richards), etc... I am not exactly sure why, hopefully someone with more knowledge can chime in. Rob |

Ken
there are a number of the 1933 Goudey cards that do not have the BIG LEAGUE CHEWING GUM banner on the bottom. See also the Richards, Berger, and others. Some great colors on those cards ! Todd |
Hindu Waddell
Thanks to a fellow board member who has made this a great month by contacting me about this card I was so desperately after.

Nice card Rob. Gotta be happy about that one.
|
Congrats Rob! That is a huge pickup on your Rube run. Kudos to the board member who helped you out!
Best, Andy |
A few pickups this month...
http://photos.imageevent.com/piojohn...ze/oldring.jpg Twice the Murphy flavor now...after a recent trade with a board member I now have two BL460 Murphy's. It's official I have a Murphy problem now... :) http://photos.imageevent.com/piojohn...%20psa%204.jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/piojohn...size/bl460.jpg I have always wanted to own this card childhood thing, kinda of cool for me. http://photos.imageevent.com/piojohn...bsize/ruth.jpg |

He's only a common, and a former Yankee, but I love this card. Goudey obviously didn't care much in the design, but the color and stuff makes this kinda cool IMO.

Poor Man's T4 Cabinet
2 Attachment(s)
Here's my presentation solution to my T4 that was trimmed to the oval.
Here are the before and after scans. I could not justify spending the current market price for an unaltered T4 cabinet, so this is a wonderful addition and solution for my catcher collection. Patrick |
Patrick,
That looks amazing good show and great idea! Cheers, John |
John,
Amazing pair of BL 460s! When you are ready to kick the habit, give me a call. JimB P.S. The Ruth doesn't suck either. |
Thanks
Hi John,
Thanks. I'm really excited that it came out looking so great. I have a local framer that does a great job. It's amazing to watch their machine cut a matt. Patrick |
Couple of pickups
3 Attachment(s)
Here are three very different pickups! :) The Bagwell was for my "Possible Future HOF RC Collection". The Marquard for my HOF RC Collection, and the Lections for my Lections set. :)

Nice pickups, guys.

Sweet Cobb Blank Back, Jay!!
|
Thanks
Thanks Trae.
I'm excited to own it. Love those backs! even if they don't have anything on them. |
I have not seen one either....I would make sure it is in fact a blank back and not a skinned Cobb as well. Many blank back T206's are not much more than T206's that have been skinned.
Where did the card come from just curious? Cheers, John |

I owned this card, traded it off with others and always regretted losing it. After traveling through a couple of hands, it is mine again :D Now it's off to SGC for a cross-over. Thanks Dan Mc for the deal.

B&L Pick Up

Pick-ups from the Philly show...
Always wanted an Orange Border for the Wagner collection. Almost picked up the Detroit team as well, but it had significantly more paper loss on front... http://i488.photobucket.com/albums/r...derPirates.jpg A couple of 1940's snapshots of an aging Babe (cue ZZ Top -Girls go crazy 'bout a sharp dressed man)... http://i488.photobucket.com/albums/r...hSnapshots.jpg Group of T206s... http://i488.photobucket.com/albums/r...dc/T206Lot.jpg Mike |
Really like the Ruth photos Mike! Nice pickups.
|
I agree, Cool pickups Mike. Nice stack of raw T206!
|
Thanks fellas
|
Raw cards
Nice pickups and presentation, Mike.
That stack of raw t206s made me drool. Very cool. It makes me imagine what a kid's collection looked like back in the day, stored in a cigar box. |
First Fred Toney Photo

Nice pickup Paul.

wow Paul!!!

Frank Wakefield sent me a very interesting book about the life and times and demise of Ed Delehanty which I am just a few pages shy of finishing. That OJ therefore resonates very nicely. Outstanding card!
