Looks like you're making great progress Bob on one of my favorite sets.
I've been working on the 1909 Obak Horizontal cards. Picked up Mohler last month and Mr. Wiggs arrived today. Six down four more to go. http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g5...gs1909Obak.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g5.../HoganMini.jpghttp://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g5.../Martinke2.jpghttp://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g5.../WiggsMini.jpghttp://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g5...onal/amini.jpghttp://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g5.../Brackmini.jpghttp://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g5...MohlerMini.jpg |

1909 Obak set complete, and chance to complete fellow net54'ers set as well
1 Attachment(s)
Just received the pictured 1909 Obak of Fitzgerald, which was the final card I needed to complete the set...hooray! I started the set about 11 years ago, but suffered a six year dry spell where I was stuck needing just two cards, the Shinn and Fitzgerald. Our own Anthony S. remembered I needed the Shinn a few months ago and made sure one ended up my hands, and then notified me last month that this Fitzgerald was available, so he was incredibly instrumental in helping me tame the Monster's PCL cousin. Thanks!
Now here is the chance to help Anthony out...he is down to just needing one card--Speas--to finish his 1909 Obak set, as you can see in his BST posting. These cards can be elusive, but someone out there probably has one available, and can help make Anthony's day Brian |
After having lost out on a Mathewson and Johnson over the last year or so, was very happy to add this PM1 to the collection...

docpatlv,
Bravo! |
Congrats Brian on completing the 1909 Obak set !! Must be a great feeling of accomplishment :)
Sincerely, Clayton |
Good Job Brian

T332 Fred Toney
1 Attachment(s)
My first Fred Toney of the new year for my small but growing Toney collection. Special Thanks to Rhett for letting me know this got posted on ebay. I have been looking for one of these for a while now. If only I could find a D381 Toney or a E135 or Boston Store Toney now I would be so happy. I am content with this gem for now. If these were issued in 1911, I am surprised Toney made it into this issue because Toney only pitched in a couple of game for the cubs in 1911. I am glad he made it in though.

Picked up this sharp looking Waddell portrait from fellow member Ron Rice. What a BLAZER! Sharp colour! Well centred! Super nice for the grade! An A+ transaction, thanks Ron!

Top left corner of Bastian
I think that 'divit' that goes through to the back of the card will cost a full grade; I'd say 3.5-4

Actually a very late January addition, but never got around to posting it. A huge thank you to Scott Brockelman for noticing this one was
on my 2011 want list and contacted me shortly thereafter. Very much appreciated.... http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a95...eaverfront.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a95...averback-1.jpg |
Thanks, guys.
The carton now contains one pack. According to the previous owner, it once contained 40-some full packs. She had acquired it/them at a country store auction in Gettysburg, PA in 2006 or 2007, but has been selling the packs off one by one since. I'm sure some board members have picked some of them up. The pack's tax stamp was cancelled in July 1905, and both the pack and the carton are marked as coming from Factory 25 in Virginia. Slightly pre-T card era, but pretty darn close. |
Really nice Lundgren, Drew! I'd say "ya done well" posting a picture.
Jim... beautiful AB carton!! |

New pickups ... cards I never thought I'd find!
Burkett was from Clean Sweep. I just received it, less than 24 business hours after I mailed the check! Evers & Terry are from davidbvintage (another great ebay seller) Dan |
Dan:
Very nice Terry Rookie, Dan. I like the Burkett a lot too, not many career contemporary cards for him. |
Baseball Figural
1 Attachment(s)
Just picked up this real neat 1940's era metal baseball figural. Thanks to Brock for posting this previously or I would have never known that it was the figural portion off of a tie rack. Probably overpaid because it is missing the tie rack portion, but thought it would look real cool in my display room.

Added a few well-loved examples for my set:

Thanks Richard. Another successful transaction on BST. Definitely my favorite Cobb card and the reason I started the E95 set. It doesn't exactly enhance my SGC Registry set, but I couldn't pass this bad boy up.

Thanks to Andrew & Leon, I made a huge dent in my needed T205 backs. After getting these 2 backs, I just need a green Broad Leaf to have all back types. I'm also just 4 (a very hard 4) away from my master T205 set. Please see signature.

T205s and ....

PeterB- those are tougher backs than what is currently being seen. Except for the very small group of 6 Hindu's and the St.Louis? find of Drums, those things are almost never seen.
The buyer of the Stengel Koesters card and I were in discussions for me to buy it when the thread went up about it. Even though my snipe didn't take, I was within about $25 of the winning bid on ebay. I need it as an upgrade. I contacted the buyer today, who is a good hobby friend, and we worked a nice trade out. It will be an upgrade for my Bancroft (not sure how you tell it between a W575-1 and D383 though) Koesters......I do like this portrait pose and am glad to add it to my collection (see BST tomorrow for it's new $1095 price)..... |
Cool looking card for my R313 set (56% complete)

After a few years of searching I have added a Toney no trees to my Fred Toney collection thanks to FW. He was very patient with me having to back out a few times and even gave me a discounted price. To top everything off it is a one of a kind, I can't wait for it to get here in the mail later this week!

Here are three items I picked up recently. The first is a postcard from 1934 showing Babe Ruth among others who barnstormed around Japan for awhile. The second is my first and only T206, Hooks Wiltse pitching. The third is a photograph that was personally owned by Cy Young, and it is stamped on the back with his signature, which was his habit with many of his photographs. He is shown in his later years alongside Ruth and Jane Benedum.
|
Nice postcard. Is that a Ruth sig on the postcard with the others?
