Coaches corner wish list

If you could ask the Roaches for your one great item, the one you would pay anything for, what would it be?
For me it would be the signed draft of the Gettysburg Address, the one with the crossed out line "whoopee, we beat those rebel butts on this field." with a COA from whatever flavor of the month they choose.

HRBAKER 10-23-2010 12:36 PM

George Custer signed piece of wagon canvas, "Where did all those Indians come from?"

or

Joan of Arc signed note, "Don't play with fire."

thetruthisoutthere 10-23-2010 02:35 PM

Roach's Corner

A Babe Ruth autograph on a "1995 Cooperstown Babe Ruth SLU."

jschris 10-23-2010 03:12 PM

A "game-used" cross, signed by the Lord himself. Or was that already sold through them?

barrysloate 10-23-2010 04:41 PM

The letter Abraham Lincoln wrote to a friend on April 14, 1865, where he says "I will be in touch with you first thing tomorrow, Mrs. Lincoln and I are heading tonight to the theatre."

brickyardkennedy 10-23-2010 07:17 PM

Signed postcard sent by Judge Crater from Atlantis.

GrayGhost 10-23-2010 07:44 PM

Geez guys, you're being ridiculous. Stick to baseball!

An authentic AL ball signed by Thomas Jefferson

steve B 10-23-2010 08:51 PM

A scorched village people album signed by Bill Veck. Disco demolition night debris.

Ok, not as crazy as the others since it's at least possible.

Authographed baseball by Rene Descartes inscribed "cogito ergo sum" so it must be real.

Oldtix 10-24-2010 06:24 AM

How about a signed judicial order sentencing them to a long prison stretch...without writing materials?

RichardSimon 10-24-2010 10:17 AM

A Mark Twain handwritten letter in which he discusses the Presidency of JFK and offers his opinion that a conspiracy was behind his assassination.

Fuddjcal 10-24-2010 11:05 AM

I'd like to buy a rock signed by all 33 Chile Miners that the guy brought up with him during their rescue. Certed by Ted Taylor of course when no one else will do.

RichardSimon 10-24-2010 02:15 PM

I am sure they can get that Chilean piece from the same consignor that they got the Titanic crewmen piece.
Who sent that one to you Lee?
:eek::eek::eek:

Rickyy 10-25-2010 01:21 AM

Maybe we should stop...I'm thinking there is a great probability that the majority of these items may actually pop up in future auctions...

danc 10-25-2010 10:51 AM

A baseball signed by Lee Harvey Oswald signed "I didn't shoot John F. Kennedy", as homage to those nonsensical Pete Rose (and Bob Feller) balls.

Signed and inscribed letter.

Dear Coach's Corner,

Please return my time machine.

Regards,

P.S. Also, please stop sending George and Orville, cricket bats to sign. Wrong Wright brothers.

CC

Chinese made Bowie knife signed by Jim Bowie & Daniel Boone in black sharpie w/cert.

Matt Felix 10-25-2010 01:43 PM

multi-signed baseball

I would like a multi-signed baseball with all of the ring-bearers:

Sauron
Isildur
Sméagol/Gollum
Bilbo Baggins
Tom Bombadil
Frodo Baggins
Samwise Gamgee

as long as we are talking fantasy pieces.

Matt

Rickyy 10-25-2010 01:44 PM

A vintage bottle of Amontillado signed by both Montresor and Fortunato. COA signed by Poe.

baseballart 10-25-2010 02:39 PM

In the realm of "sure, it's possible" ( a la a rock signed by Los 33), how about a letter from Mr. Pipp;

"Dear Mom,

Have a headache today and won't play. Be back in lineup tomorrow,

love, Wally"

tinkereversandme 10-25-2010 04:17 PM

An apple that comes signed by Adam AND Eve (can't guarantee authenticity of Eve) like they couldn't guarantee Eve like their Bonnie and Clyde, where STAT could not authenticate Bonnie (for some reason)...Softball signed by every guest on the Titanic with chunk of ice berg...and I know they have sold a bunch of Darwin cuts, but one that says "Religeon, hooey!". Fun thread.

Regards,

Larry

RichardSimon 10-25-2010 04:29 PM

A cigarette butt signed by the smoking baby:
"DanC made me do it."
The exemplars from the authentication are what I would like to see on that one.

GrayGhost 10-25-2010 07:50 PM

FLASH: Just in. Battle used Cannonball from the Famous Civil war Ironclad battle, the Monitor and the Merrimack. COA from BOTH RE Lee and US Grant.

canjond 10-25-2010 08:40 PM

I've always wanted to own piece of the jello box from Julius and Ethel. Any chance CC can get me that?

I actually signed up with them to register as a bidder. Did that about 2-3 weeks ago. Then sent them an email asking if when I win an item and if I should get it authenticated by SGC or PSA and they tell me it's no good, would I get my money back.

2-3 weeks later, they have yet to reply.

Now that's some Customer Service.

nameless 10-27-2010 12:40 PM

I was hoping they has these

1. An Honus Wagner signed Honus Wagner T206 with a Ty Cobb back and the photocopied PSA/DNA cert to go with it.

2. The ball that struck and killed Ray Chapman on August 16, 1920 at Polo Grounds. Also I would like the black armband that manager Tris Speaker wore in remembrance of Chapman. Oh they won the World Series that year so I guess the trophy would be nice to see on the auction site.

mr2686 10-27-2010 02:33 PM

A Christopher Morales autograph that has a letter from Morales stating he cannot determine it's authenticity.

base_ball 10-27-2010 02:59 PM

A Jesus Christ-signed piece of The True Cross

MacDice 10-27-2010 03:01 PM

What about John Kruk's ball from his testicular cancer surgery in 1994?

mark evans 10-27-2010 03:54 PM

I wouldn't mind owning Moses's craft of bulrushes, maybe framed with a cut autograph.

[By the way, Christopher Morales lives in a neighborhood adjoining my own. His is nicer, showing I guess that forensic experts do better than bureaucrats.]

Kenesaw Mountain Landis' fathers wooden leg...signed by all the subsequent commissioners...with COA

RichardSimon 10-28-2010 03:40 PM

I knew this group would have a ball with this one.
:p;):D:o:):rolleyes::cool:

RichardSimon 10-28-2010 09:15 PM

Many people consider this to be the Holy Grail of the entire hobby.
The Bobby Thomson HR baseball.
It is an Official Natl League baseball with no inscription, no signature.
Lee says it is THE BALL and we of course believe him.

Rickyy 10-29-2010 01:07 AM

Baseball autographed by CM with COA from TT and TT autographed baseball with COA from CM both accompanied by PSA/DNA certificate deeming both to be unauthentic...

Wymers Auction 02-14-2012 04:58 PM

How about a handwritten Ruth letter personally thanking Chris Morales dated yesterday!!!

Wymers Auction 02-14-2012 05:01 PM

The ark of the covenant

tachyonbb 02-14-2012 08:13 PM

Jon, I think it would be better if they had both halves of the jello box. With cut sigs of all involved and framed with a line of Radium paint.

I always thought the Gospel of John, signed by all four of the gospel authors would be a nice piece, or maybe a silver coin signed by Judas.

thetruthisoutthere 02-14-2012 08:37 PM

A multi-signed baseball with the sigs of Chris Morales, Ted Taylor, Jeff Stevens and Drew Max with an inscription that reads "There Isn't An Autograph We Don't Like."

GrayGhost 02-15-2012 04:54 AM

Who bumped this thread? Wow. Just in for the Roach's next spectacular: CAndy Cummings signed ball. Joe Cronin, President . Signed "I did discover the curve ball". and dated too. :o

A horseshoe from the horse that Paul Revere rode on his famous ride.
Signed by Revere in red sharpie with inscription "way to go Paint old boy, you are my favorite horse, my MVH."
Of course with a proper COA.

GrayGhost 02-15-2012 06:51 AM

Just in from the Coach's. Battle Worn hat from General George Armstrong Custer. This hat was likely worn at Little Bighorn. Some blood stains on it, but we can't totally verify any DNA, but the Hat does come w a COA.

As a bonus, comes w a nice "cut" from a letter. Aged paper, but the signature can be read from 300 yards away. Wonderful piece.

Hat Certed by Scott Mallack and Lee Trythall, while the signature has multiple authentication from Drew Max of AAU, Plus Western Historian Moe Howard, and final documentation w multiple photos and points of analysis from Former FBI secret service Boy scout leader and professor at Thomas Jefferson university. Christopher Morales.

Museum quality display, but get it HERE in a TRUE Auction format:)

Mine is not really fantasy, it actually is out there already. Top of my wish list would be THE autographed United States flag that was aboard one of the helicopters and presented to Barrack Obama and signed by the Navy Seals Team Six after killing Osama Bin Laden.

Now that's a good one.

How about a Harridge baseball signed by Sir Isaac Newton and inscribed to Elvis Presley? I would bid on that.

RichardSimon 02-19-2012 08:58 AM

Come on guys, let's put up a serious item here.
CC deserves something realistic to try to get for us.
How about the bedsprings from the Babe's room at the Ansonia Hotel in NYC, his little hideaway, signed by the Babe with the inscription ":D:D, boy these things saw a lot of action, Best Wishes Babe Ruth"

I was in vintage baseball hiatus during the Mick's liver scandal, but I can only imagine the discussions that went on here.

I think I saw them offer a Babe Ruth signed baseball.

To be a little realistic. I would like the paddle the fathers used on Ruth's butt while he was growing up. Signed of course. "This was how I learned to hit hard. Babe Ruth".
