July Pickup Thread
2 Attachment(s)
Managed to win these 2 the last 2 nights on eBay. I've never been much of an autographed card guy but an E96 autographed Hall of Famer was too good to pass up. The D311 Howard is another indication of the fact that tough cards are becoming available and obtainable at good prices if you can sort through the muck on ebay and find the bargains.

What a great way to start the pickup thread. Nice cards Bob.
And nice Wright too! J |

Mr. Mailman showed up yesterday with this one for me...
|
Steve- nice pickup. I would think the number of Hallas available now are almost nil with our recent pickups. Glad you are very close to completion.

Thanks Bob! Bernard and Fullerton left to go (and of course Bohen )
|
Steve,
Where did you pick up the Halla? Auction or a private sale? |

Nice card, Ray. One of my favorites.

Looks like a square deal. Well if you only have the Bernard and Fullerton left, you must have a Bill Lindsay. There is only 2 on the SGC registry (I got one of them) and none on the PSA registry. Is yours the other? Any theory why he is so rare as opposed to the other 1911 Zeenuts except Bohen?
|
coug- That's one of the few cards I still need in the 1911 set. If you decide to let it go for cash or trade, let me know, I'd be interested. I have the Home Run Kisses Lindsay but not the 1911 Zeenut. :(

this needs to be on the BST side.....

Love this Matty
This beauty arrived last week, and it immediately has become one of my favorites. My first S81 silk too. I'm thinking of having it framed.

Beautiful Matty! Get it framed with absolute, postive, no-conditions-otherwise-acceptable orders that it not be trimmed in any manner to fit a frame.

With a nice clear image too. Congrats Jantz |
That McCarthy has got to be the nicest card in that set. That's an incredible image!
|
Happy to pick this up tonight. I think this gets the toughest card out of the way.

Hi Rob!
An extremely lucky ebay purchase! Also did some serious trading for some of the others thanks to Marc, Ray, and Erick! Just need sleepy Bill Burns and the non team variation F. Smith |
Got my first Piedmont Factory 42!
I bought a few lots of T206 on ebay and was shocked to see that the Snodgrass "Piedmont back" was a 350-460 Factory 42! My cost... $10.

nice pick up erick! We both had a good ebay week :)

Picked up a cornerstone for my collection although it cost me a pretty penny. This is, from what I've been told, 1 of 2 known original Gypsy Queen countertop displays.

That Matty is a beaut.....I think it's the best 2 I've ever seen! :)
It took me a couple minutes with a blown-up scan to figure out why it got the grade. Steve |
That is an awesome first card good luck on the rest of the journey.

Very nice Mathewson for the grade - great start on your T206 set dstraate!

Part of a large collection I bought. Really love the wagner. It looks like a 6 but has a speck of damage on the back.

Odds and ends
I have just been tinkering around looking for some direction, but have grabbed these over the last little while. I am still a front/back combo addict:

I also added a little stack of beaters to play with. I think these have been around for a while, as there is very little "old cardboard" smell left.
I am getting the urge to put a stack together again! Bob <a href="http://s588.photobucket.com/albums/ss329/upperhandisforemost/?action=view¤t=T206smallstack.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i588.photobucket.com/albums/ss329/upperhandisforemost/T206smallstack.jpg" border="0" alt="T206 small stack"></a> |
I'm excited to have picked up this card on eBay last night (scans are from the auction). This card will definitely help me in my quest to put together a T206 team set with all different backs...

Arrived today - the 1909 Pirates extension postcards. They're pretty beat up, Wagner is detached from the strip, and 3 of the 17 players are missing. And I probably paid a bit more than I intended at first.
With that said, it's really hard to find this set, so I was very happy to pick it up in any condition. It's nice to say I have a Wagner which is probably much more scarce than the T206! I love the fact that all of the pictures appear to be unique, and not images you see in many other sets. Scans of a few of the cards.... |
