March P/U
Walked into an antique store and found this in January (raw of course). I thought it was a 6-7 but SGC said there was a wrinkle on the back (I don't see it).

Picked up what I consider a very eye pleasing T206 Larry Doyle card. Very sharp and in focus. The card looks better in person.

Sweet card, TBob, probably worth 2 lots !!!!:)

When it arrived, I was like, "WOW!" It is one of the sharpest T206s I have ever seen. I really enjoy the eye appeal. |

A very Rare CR Photo
I love the writing on the back! This has got to be a one of a kind and something I would never part with. Gotta love a great old pic with a baseball team, a kid and his dog!

Mike - nice photo - it includes Socks Seibold and Fred "Bootnose" Hoffman.
|
Mike
If that is pitcher Roy Mellinger 2nd left bottom, he is the guy that owned the 136 card Lot of T206's I bought in Dec!
|
Fred,
That team pic was one of the items I sold recently from the Mellinger collection. Mike was the high bidder. He got a great deal and if the lower corner ever is found, we will mail that to him. |

If the winner of the Beldon Hill Document and the winner of the other CR Photos would love to sell them to me I would be forever grateful.. (ahem, leon, rhys :) ) By selling them to me you would have the comfort of knowing that they have a great home and that they would be shared with our small community here in CR IA... I have a collectables shop located in the lindale mall and have my CR pieces prominately displayed for public viewing.. These pieces would be a welcome addition! thanks in advance for any consideration.. |

Kenny,
Those are some pretty Cole cards. Sorry for the horrific word play, but super nice pickups!! Bob |
Thanks. The CJ Jackson has been on my want list for a long time. The Clarkson was an impulse buy.
|
Kenny - Nice Looking Joe Jax
That card presents much better than the grade would indicate. Nice pickup!
|
Paul:
Nice Cardinals piece, never seen that one before. |
Thanks to Darren for working with me to get these two additions to my Reds set.

I had to think about that comment for a minute, but then after looking at Roush I remembered - Rhett is a dentist!!
At first I was worried that you had noticed something wrong with the card. RC |

Small pickup from B&L...another off the E-type card list!
Bill |
Bill, do we have any hard proof that the Colgan "square proof" is actually that? I've always had some doubt about the origins of this card. Mine is below:
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/calvindog/2910100804/" title="1909 Colgan's Chip Proof by calvindog65, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3259/2910100804_206f765cbd_o.jpg" width="450" height="771" alt="1909 Colgan's Chip Proof" /></a> |
It was good that Leon ressurected the old topic on this. I don't think they are "officially" proofs, but tend to agree given the size & similarities to Colgan's that they were offered up in a different product. What that was, and when it was distributed are valid and unanswered questions, and may never be unless some big discovery is made. That being said, whether it's a Colgan or not isn't too high on my radar. It's a period card that I didn't have a type of in my set, and now I do so I am happy! Let's hope some light is finally shed in the future and that it turns out that the Criss is the new holy-grail of card collecting! :)
Bill |
Let's hope it turns out that the Criss is the new holy grail ...
There are right around 50 of them from what I've heard, and the highest graded on is in a PSA 8 case (but I think it's been trimmed). Watch out for all the fakes on eBay that were found in Grandpa's attic!
|
I'd say that M101-6s are new holy grail this week.
|
Jeff,
I hope you are wrong.....Leon just sold mine in that auction....Thanks again Leon and Scott for running a great auction. |
Quote:
Bob, It was a beauty. Jeff Absolutely great auction, won a few lots myself. |
Jeff,
Do you know who won it? If you do, please tell them I hope it display great in their collection. Bob |
Nope, all I know is it wasn't me. Always been one of my favorite sets.
|
Love the color in this one...first new vintage I've gotten in a while. I have a few nice ones incoming though...will post them up when they arrive. Closer and closer!

Jeff:
Great Cubs Team. Presume that's a PC? The Evers, Tinker and Zimmerman are recognizable poses appeaing individually on other PC's I have seen. |
Yes, the Burke & Atwell is a postcard.
|
I know these are complete BEATERS...

...but given that Im targeting them as players, the age of the cards, and how few cards exist for each player; I am absolutely estatic to add these to my collection. My thanks to Rhett Y, who let me in on the fact that these cards even existed. Over time, I hope to upgrade condition.

http://i488.photobucket.com/albums/r...c/1907W555.jpg Picked this up at the Philly show. The largest postcard I have ever seen, especially pre-war. HM Taylor PC of presentation of floral horseshoe to Bill Donovan. It measures 7-1/4" x 9-1/4". The scan is approx. 80% of the actual size. And yes, Ty is actually smiling. http://i488.photobucket.com/albums/r...orTigersPC.jpg http://i488.photobucket.com/albums/r...TigersPCBk.jpg http://i488.photobucket.com/albums/r...sPCCloseUp.jpg Mike |

Picked these up in the recent Hunt Auction, and had them graded at the Valley Forge show. Very pleased especially with the Wilder which I suspected would grade a 50, although his Momma should have taught him how to correctly button a sweater. Enjoy.
Still looking for T209s from both series, especially color. Cheers, Mike |
