Started my ImageEvent online website!

I was inspired by the great job Rob did on his ImageEvent site that a decided to start one of my own. You can view it at:

http://imageevent.com/jeffintoronto

I still have about 100 more photos to upload (including my T206's, PSA submissions that are in the mail, signed index cards, baseballs, misc. cards and my autographed picture with Charles Barkley from my time at Scarborough Golf Club!) Hopefully I'll have these uploaded by next week. Check it out!

Robextend 02-01-2010 08:12 AM

Great Job

Excellent job Jeff!! Great collection and I look forward to seeing the rest...

Rob

jb217676 02-01-2010 08:20 AM

Glad you like it! It's a fun project to start (scanner didn't have much fun though, needs to rest for a couple of days!)

Bicem 02-01-2010 08:38 AM

Very nice, makes the collection more enjoyable doesn't it?

jb217676 02-01-2010 08:50 AM

It's great how I can look at everything without having to take them out of the box.

John V 02-01-2010 10:12 AM

Nice work! Does ImageEvent charge for this service?

jb217676 02-01-2010 10:24 AM

Yes they do. They charge $24.95 a year (for 1500 pictures up to 5MB each) or they charge $64.95 a year (for unlimited pictures unlimited size). I joined at the lower level because I don't have 1500 pictures to upload yet. I'll upgrade to the higher level account when I do (no point spending $64.95 for less than 1500 pictures). Hope this helps.

Great work!!!

I think it looks nice-- clean, simple and straightforward . On many websites, a plethora of bells and whistles is a distraction rather than a virtue.

teetwoohsix 02-01-2010 11:55 AM

Great job Jeff!!

Help!

The Monster has me...in...it's...GRASP! I had to give my T206's their own album. Nooooooooooooo......

docpatlv 04-19-2010 10:24 AM

Hi Jeff,

I was thinking about opening an ImageEvent account. I was wondering if you could answer a quick question. If you have a folder for say E or T cards and upload 20 photos, and then at a later date you add more photos and want them to show chronologically, is it easy to move the sequence around or do they just appear in the order in which you upload them?

Mike

You can move images around one-by-one within a folder quite easily. IE has quite a few ways to cherry out a folder/album.

jb217676 04-19-2010 11:32 AM

IMO ImageEvent is the best site to host your pictures. I especially like how there are no ads (Photobucket).

JP 04-19-2010 11:36 AM

Jeff, nice cards! The C55s are awesome... :) You have a very diverse collection. That's refreshing! Just don't let The Monster take over...

Griffins 04-19-2010 11:42 AM

Jeff- just a FYI- Image Event counts every version of an image when totaling up the number you have. If you have your albums set up for a thumbnail, a medium and a large image that counts as 3. You have yours set up as medium, exif, and the thumbnail. So in reality under your plan you'll have 500 images to upload, and it looks like you've got about 140 or so left to reach your max.
BTW, your site looks great, good job!

jb217676 04-19-2010 11:47 AM

Thanks JP. I don't know if many members collect the C55 or C56 hockey issues, but they rarely come up for auctions from what I've seen (most have high BIN prices). Much harder to find at reasonable prices than their T206 counterparts IMO.

This copy is from ImageEvent's website:

* Every original image uploaded, generates up to 5 more stored images. That is a total storage of 9000 possible images for premium members. Images are generated from small Thumbnail to XX-Large preserving original size and quality. Each original image can be zoomed in 7 sizes. Select the default size and which image sizes are viewable in each album.

** Storage is based on number of original images stored on ImageEvent. You may reuse, add or delete photos whenever you want - as long as you stay within your image storage capacity. Additionally documents and video clips-- each document and video page counts as one image. Counting by number of images is easier -- and gives you more flexibility.

So this leads me to believe that, if you choose to display your images in multiple sizes, only the original upload counts against your total.

Griffins 04-19-2010 12:31 PM

thanks Jeff, they must've changed that recently. I went around and around with them over this about 2 years ago, and they said every version counted, and pushed me to get the unlimited account. It ended up being a lot easier than deleting formats.
The nice thing about the site is that when you do go over your limit you can upgrade and it's prorated.
For a long time it wouldn't accept .psd files, but now does. They do seem very good at continually upgrading the service, and I'm sure you'll be really happy.

Here is the email I just received from ImageEvent:

Dear Jeff,

It doesn't matter how many generated images you want to be created, such as Medium, Large, X-Large-- Each image uploaded counts as 1 picture against your account. File Size nor amount of generated images matter. Every image uploaded counts as only 1.

We have recently made it more favorable to you, as now Video images, RAW Images, and Documents also only count as 1 image to your count.

So, essentially, yes you get 1,500 images you can upload to your Premium Account.

You can also always add 1,500 more images to your account for a one-time fee of $24.95 (never charged again).

I've tried on a few Pujols RC's recently and lost out on all of them. His key RC cards always seem to get bid up pretty high in the final 20 seconds of bidding. Even though I don't have one yet, the autographed 1/10 card I own is a great one. It is the only example EVER graded by Beckett. If I ever put that one up for a sale, the Pujols fans would go nuts over it, but it's not going anywhere soon.

teetwoohsix 04-20-2010 08:27 AM

Very Nice Jeff!!

You've really been making progress, and I was very impressed at how far your collection has come along.Just looked at the IE site, and really enjoyed it!!

I love that Josh Devore EPDG T206!!!!Excellent!!Also really like that 1940 Play Ball Homerun Baker too.

Last thing, what was really cool too,was the auto'd photo of you and Charles Barkley!!!Thanks for sharing your collection with us!!

Sincerely,Clayton

P.S.-I can see you got bit by The Monster :D

jb217676 04-20-2010 08:34 AM

Since that Barkley photo was taken, I would say Sir Charles and myself have put on a few.

Thanks Rob. Your IE site is great fun to look at. Let's see who'll need to upgrade to a Power Premium site first!

Jeff-Nice diverse collection, thanks for sharing.

Ronald-Enjoyed yours as well, great collection. Couldn't agree with you more regarding George Brett, easily the best clutch hitter I ever saw too. By the way I lost count on how many Brett cards I have, but if there are certain ones you need would be happy to send some your way if I have them(no charge). Just let me know.

iggyman 06-28-2011 08:04 PM

Jeff,

Fantastic job and incredible progress, but I would really like to see how your collection will look in the year 2016. Can you please fast forward this thread to the year 2016? I'll await your bump.

Lovely Day...

jb217676 01-20-2013 04:17 PM

After a couple of years, changed my site up a bit. Let me know what you guys think!

big80s 01-20-2013 08:35 PM

Jeff,

I love the layout of your site - very visually appealing and easy to navigate. I've been working on scanning all of my cards in, as well. I feel like sharing is one of the most enjoyable aspects of our hobby - and a great website seems like a perfect facilitator.

Chris-Counts 01-20-2013 08:50 PM

Nice job Jeff. Now you've got me rethinking the layout on my Imageevent site ...

ghooper33 02-06-2013 06:10 PM

Thanks for the links to your great collections! It has inspired me to update my site as well. http://imageevent.com/ghooper33

jerrys 02-06-2013 09:02 PM

Larry Fritsch had a raw Rose Co. Hal Chase postcard for sale in 2004. His price for grade was fair but his grading was a fantasy.
