Its been a longtime since I made a non-T206 pick-up. The Gretzky is just something I always wanted. The Jackie is a card I have been looking at, and thanks to Sam's "buying the green Cobby and not the grade," I decided to go up on what i feel is a very under-graded 52 Topps Jackie

Centering looks really good. Congrats! |
Agreed! Tough to tell from the small image, but the color and centering on that Jackie looks amazing. Congrats on picking up two awesome and important cards.
Worch pickups are great. It's amazing how the layouts from the same set can be so different. Greg, I'm not familiar with that set or player, but congrats on what is obviously a rare grade on a gorgeous card. |
Orlando, thanks. It's a 1912 minor league set, with odd design that some people love and others not so much. But it's distinctive and you almost never see a "9" in ANY minor league set. Kind of amazing--who has ever seen a mint Obak? early Zeenut? Old Mill? etc. Or even a NM. Which is worth speculating about. There are a fair number of "8" in the C46, though.

As always some great early month pickups.
Mine is an OBAK. I think this was a good price, not run up if you know what I mean :rolleyes::p These look so good in SGC holders when in nicer grade. Of course my raw binder of beater cards still look very nice to me! |

T206 Speaker "missing red ink"
1 Attachment(s)
I'm curious what your thoughts are on this Speaker. The research I've done seems to suggest that it may not be an actual "missing red ink" variant but a printing anomaly. This Speaker seemingly is missing the red ink identifying Boston on the uniform, but the red ink on Speaker's cap is clearly there. Could there have been two separate red color passes and/or printing plates for this particular card? Seems odd but plausible I guess.

Brian, nice WWG of Gehrig. My snipe wasn't as high as yours so congrats. Just got this in today from Christies as we had a little dispute over the shipping/handling charges that we both finally agreed upon. A nice early type 1 image of Ty Cobb.

A few new additions...
1912 Baker-the Vertical is new and REALLY tough, to go with the Horizontal http://www.starsofthediamond.com/12zeebakervertical.jpg http://www.starsofthediamond.com/12zeebakerhor.jpg Another nearly impossible 1912: http://www.starsofthediamond.com/12zeemcavoy.jpg Another pretty tough one: 1912 Fitzgerald, has such a strange color and look to it. It was actually a doctored version of his 1911... http://www.starsofthediamond.com/12zeefitzgerald.jpg http://www.starsofthediamond.com/11zeefitzgerald.jpg Upgrades: http://www.starsofthediamond.com/12zeealtman.jpg http://www.starsofthediamond.com/12zeecheek.jpg http://www.starsofthediamond.com/12zeegedeon.jpg http://www.starsofthediamond.com/12zeeswain.jpg http://www.starsofthediamond.com/12zeezacher.jpg |

T205 George "Admiral" Schlei

Picked up the last T205 catcher I needed for my project that matches a T205 catcher with their corresponding colored S74 silks. Need just 2 more S74 catchers: Schlei and Graham.

George Cowan T210 (Portrait)
1 Attachment(s)
Received this awesome T210 of George Cowan, Portsmouth this morning from David Bryan. The card is nicer than the scan.
Wanted to pick up another T210 after finally completed my run of T210 catchers wearing chest protectors. The black in the collar, the brim of the hat, and lettering on the hat and uniform really pops. Perhaps I'll attempt to add a catcher from each of the eight series now. Patrick |

I was the seller (rcdevil) of this card. I actually had a PSA 9 #31 (Sharpe) card as well but I sold it to a buyer in Toronto, who now has 2 of the 3 mint-graded C46s. Glad you like the card! Cheers, Rob |

Such great stuff in this thread, as always. My pickups over the last several weeks have been part working on long-term projects, part impulse buys -- The way every month should be :D

Great cards so far everyone. Nice T210 Cowan Portrait Patrick. I say go for one from every Series!
Happy to pick up another Revelle, I wanted a PSA example to go with my set and the front is in better shape than my SGC copy. |

Probably overpaid, but very happy with this July pickup. Had been looking for a T227 Cobb for a while, and I really liked the centering and registration on this one. Might have to go for the Baker, Marquard and Bender now also... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I finally made the pre-war plunge!! Mostly because of all the talk on this board.
By far the oldest card I own. Obviously some paper loss on the back, but I'm happy with the overall eye appeal of the front. http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...ps6eitgyr1.jpg |

Matty back
Way to jump in, Rugby!
That paper loss on the back doesn't bother me, it looks as though someone taped (or pasted or something) the card to display it and then it was later removed. So what...that's what you did with cards as kids! Too bad that the hobby nails paper loss as bad as it does above most other flaws. But as a lower grade collector , I don't mind a bit! |
