So sweeeet.

jg8422 01-06-2012 04:15 PM

Absolutely amazing and beautiful! It makes me think of how pathetic my graded cards must look just sitting in a bunch of super vault storage boxes.

glchen 01-06-2012 04:15 PM

Beautiful display.

iwantitiwinit 01-06-2012 04:25 PM

BOOM!!! That is nice.

kmac32 01-06-2012 04:31 PM

I dont collect T206 cards but WOW!!! Very nice! Is that a T206 Wagner in poor/fair condition?

CW 01-06-2012 05:07 PM

Beautiful display -- thanks for sharing! While the Wagner and Plank are the obvious standouts in the first photo, my eyes can't help being drawn to that incredible Walter Johnson portrait just to the left of Hans and Eddie.

I'd imagine it would be enjoyable to just stand in front of those display cases and stare at the cards for awhile.

Jason 01-06-2012 05:12 PM

That's an amazing display.Great collection Powell.

JoeyF 01-06-2012 05:14 PM

tcdyess 01-06-2012 05:14 PM

I also noticed a signed card, awesome!

Cases

Hello, Would you mind sharing info on the cases please?...Thanks, Marty

P.S. A rare treat thanks for sharing.......

freakhappy 01-06-2012 07:06 PM

Great Display!

Powell, thanks for sharing...I love looking at a display with so many rarities!

Also, I really like those monstrous cases you put them in...great job!

Tsaiko 01-06-2012 07:37 PM

Beautiful. May I ask what your method of organization was? That's an interesting bottom row.

mrvster 01-06-2012 07:37 PM

holy Shxt!!

;)

i am trying to collect enough cards one day to possibly trade it all just for a wagner.....one of my dreams!!.....

i'm blown away~!!!

tjlives 01-06-2012 07:38 PM

That's among the most beautiful things I've ever seen.

T206Collector 01-06-2012 07:43 PM

Signed T206s

I see a signed Doyle portrait, Parent and McBride on the bottom row with the Wags and Plank. Seems like that's your "money" row... If I squint, I think I can make out an eight card signed collection, including Marquard portrait, Snodgrass batting, another McBride, Doyle batting, and Livingston, correct?

Amazing collection, and I absolutely LOVE that a signed T206 collection is part of it!

ethicsprof 01-06-2012 07:56 PM

Nice!

Thanks for having the balls to show that off. Not a fan of collectors who are scared mice who never show what they have.

The Hacker Pschorr(sp) I am drinking in my frosted glass from the freezer right now I raise to you!

PS - How much Windex do you go through? If u ever need a cleaning service....

Texxxx 01-06-2012 08:26 PM

Fred 01-06-2012 08:40 PM

Wow - totally custom... 19 x 14 for each display cabinet. Total of 532 cards can fit. There's 8 open spaces so it sounds like you've got the who set of 524 cards. That is the best T206 display I've seen yet.

The bottom row contains 8 signed T206s, which are dupes of non-signed cards. Also, he has two signed McBrides in that row.

Monster Number 920

I'm adding Powell to my Monster Number Thread with a score of 920 which ranks #1. Everyone else drops a notch. I think the thread is now on Page 4 or 5. I plan to bump it in several months for updates and additions, if no one else does.

Powell 01-07-2012 11:44 AM

I thank everyone for their very kind comments. I have learned much from everyone on this board and Bill Latzko, in particular, has mentored me and helped me acquire many of the items. I will try to find out who designed and built the display and post the information Unfortunately, the person I hired passed away, but I believe he contracted it out. I have removed the bottom row of most valuable cards and put them in a safe deposit box but will return them for special occasions. I could not take a chance leaving them there even though the case also has a sophisticated alarm and 24/7 video monitoring. I do plan to have a vintage baseball museum in Rochester, Michigan at some point so everyone can enjoy the wonder of baseball and vintage cards. I have other vintage baseball collections and, at some point, I will show those as well.

Thanks again everyone!

Powell

In the words of Darth Vader, "IMPRESSIVE, MOST IMPRESSIVE!"

Powell,
Being from Indiana I'm close to you. So if you ever open a museum, count on me forking out the admission price to get in!

Thanks for showing us!

Anyone know what UV glass like that would cost?

Thanks,
Tim Kindler

ruth-gehrig 01-11-2012 06:14 AM

Is all non glare glass treated with UV protection as well???

I count 7 missing slots which would put the total at 524. How many unique cards?

thehoodedcoder 05-12-2013 11:59 AM

i have three of these and love them. i got them in dark mohagony/cherry:

Absolutely amazing! Very well done!

I am curious about what backs you have (not that it matters), just curious, what backs do you have an example of? All or most of them I suspect.

t206fix 05-13-2013 03:44 PM

Dad?

Powell or should I say, Dad...

Do you remember that night in 1972 at the bar of the Holiday Inn in Poughkeepsie... That girl was my mom and you are my father.

I love you so please put me in the will.... today.

No need for a DNA test - really... It's obvious we are related because we both collect baseball cards. You own a T206 Honus... I once saw a picture of one on the internet.

mullinsm 05-14-2013 04:06 PM

True story. In college I dated a girl at Vassar in Poughkeepsie. Her last name was POWELL.

I kid you not.

True story. I married a Vassar girl. Might've helped that I graduated from Vassar as well. Her name was not Powell.

Aha - I see what you are trying to do, Frank. Your trying to hone in on my new t206 collection that my daddy gave me.

Well, it's not going to work. You are not related to us - right, Powell?

Powell 05-14-2013 08:12 PM

I upgraded the Plank with a psa 6
