I'll take "1's" like these any day.

I got this T206 HOFer on the cheap because of minor paper loss on the back and a low technical grade.

Princely for the grade. (No creases or wrinkles)

Great examples everyone. Love the low grade high eye appeal cards.

I'll go with all of the below-- avg grade of the cards in this pic is probably 3.5

Nice set Matty, including one of the most underrated cards IMO, 54 WF Williams. |
Yup just a little bit of a Mick fan. (I'm stuck in the Yankee past as the present is too painful LOL.) Planning to actually prune my Mick doubles soon so as to get some diversity in the collection. 54 WF Ted is a fave. My young son's too; he calls it "the hot dog Ted Williams" and it is one card I can tell will be in the fam for a long time.

This has an issue on the back, but the front is pretty good.

A little paper loss on the back and some little something on the front.
I can live with it: Attachment 462245 |

I've seen worse cards in "5" and "6" holders than that Cobb. Maybe that's a thread idea..."Oops, I bought the slab not the card" :D

A "1.5" doesn't get much better than this one.

It has a paper rub on upper right border, kind of perfect place to have it!

Really, most of my graded cards fit this description. The 53 Bowman Rizzuto/Martin has some transparent glue on the back, but otherwise is beautiful, the 33 Goudey Hoyt has a surface wrinkle, and the Pennock has paper loss on the back. Sometimes you have to be thankful for the absurdities of grading, because otherwise these cards would have been a lot more expensive.

No idea what's "wrong" with this card. Thrilled to have it in my collection

I picked this up at a discount compared to what a graded 1 or 2 would be. The funny thing is that all W-517 cards are hand cut...so I'm at a loss to decipher when they get a number grade and when they get an "A". Minimum size maybe?

I don't know why it is graded an "A".....it looks good to me.
But I'm not complaining, as this Joss is a recent upgrade in my PIEDMONT set, and I got it for a very reasonable price. https://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan...iedmont150.jpg TED Z T206 Reference . |

I think this is trimmed, but as such, I could afford it.
|
My whole T206 collection is focused on this principle. The average grade of my, currently 48.5% complete, binder set is 1.46 (many As), and here are some examples of the eye appeal.

Great thread! Faint crease and bottom scuff belies Mick's eye appeal.
