P.S. I put Clancy in just because I like this card and he played for Dubuque.

Thanks for the link, but to be honest your mascot card looks more like a canine of some sort because if you compare to rabbits, they have bigger EARS --no pun intended!

"I was told there is no support in the Dubuque 1879 photo for any ID I have claimed in my photo".

FACT: Sorry my Dubuque baseball photo isn't DATED 1879!

Fact: Comiskey was shown a photograph which he didn't even own a copy, pointing out Reis and the "Acrobat" Alveretta.

Stay Tuned!

The Dubuque baseball team photo being from St Louis, I have a logical opinion of one player in the photo I believe originally owned this photograph until his death. .

Good luck with that. This thread sucks, probably worst on this site and that says a LOT. Plus it is in a section few read.

I have admitted, its time for the others to step up to the plate and admit their mistakes. I can call them out by user name if they wish-its their choice--I counted 16 on my list, I understand a few were just following the leader, and a few having fun, but two on the list should have been careful with their research before making a conclusion. (No politics please)

Sorry, checking on your input we couldn't find a Jack Handey whom played baseball. (Although The first letter "J" was correct )

Question--Cap Anson didn't have a mustache in his early Iowa baseball playing days. I wonder why??

FYI--Dubuque Photographer HA Jordan inscribed on the pedestal I circled in red--) S1-- When I showed the photo to a photographer, he points out, Tom its not the letter S but the number 8.
1881 was last year Comiskey played baseball in Dubuque and the same year Joe Quinn was asked to join the Rabbits!

Tom S. 03-19-2020 10:12 PM

Comiskey was born in 1859. In 1881 he would have been 22 years old. If anybody in that picture is over 18 years old, I'll eat my hat.

Do you know the identities of any of the other players in the photo?

Directly 03-20-2020 05:17 PM

Comiskey was shown a photo which he didn't even own a copy, pointing out Reis and Alveretta the acrobat. I believe Comiskey was referring to my photo and not the North Western Composite photo, If it matters Reis and Alveretta are in my photo

I might add the photo being from a St Louis Antique dealer I believe was originally owned by Joe Quinn, I am in the process of locating his decedents to share as I did with the Comiskey family

Correct--Comiskey would be 22 and Quinn 19 --
