As 71buc will attest, sometimes it's the seemingly mundane pickups that can make you happy. After 20 years (literally) of looking, I finally found the orange variation of "We're #1." The white and orange variation turns up on ebay maybe 4X a year.

Graig and Rob thanks very much for your kind words. Rob,the scouting report was definitely filled out by Brooklyn Scout Bill Zinser. The item is pictured and described in (2) Sandy Koufax autobiographies . It is pictured in Jane Leavy's book and described in Edward Gruver …

Picked up this cabinet of what I believe to be an integrated team a while back, but just got around to scanning it. Can anyone narrow down an estimated time period? I was thinking 20's?

I've had a few Yankee Stadium seats in the past, but had to sell for various reasons.

I've been wanting to get another for a couple of years now, and finally found one with a good combination of condition and price!
It's complete, solid, sturdy and has some chips here and there in the blue paint where the old green shows through.
The guy I bought this from showed me pictures of himself and his Dad at the last pre-renovation game on 9/30/1973, a game which I also attended with my Dad.
I'm very happy to have one of these again.

Steven - Given the uniform style, Cadet Collar, I would put it pre-1920, say closer to 1910-1915.

Early Wynn 300th win scored program

3 Attachment(s)
I recently picked up a tough scored program to HOF Early Wynn's 300th and final career win in 1963 at KC. Wynn was known to be a tough competitor during his great career, but his struggle to get the 300th win was epic, as he was stuck on 299 wins for several months spanning 9 starts and had to change teams in order to achieve his dream...
Wynn started his 20+ year career with the Washington Senators, but also played many years for the Chicago White Sox and a few with the Cleveland Indians.

Ted Williams was quoted as saying that Wynn "was the toughest pitcher that he ever faced". It was during Wynn’s early years with the Senators that he began to gain a reputation for meanness on the mound, exemplified by his willingness to knock down a batter if the occasion warranted. Among his famous quotes concerning this subject are: “A pitcher has to look at the hitter as his mortal enemy,” “A pitcher will never be a big winner until he hates hitters,” and “I’ve got a right to knock down anybody holding a bat.”
Classic!

Picked this one up this morning at a tag sale here in West haven ct...

Based on the height and weight it matches others that have come up for auction

Cool watch, I've never seen one.

I just made a trade with another collector and got these two tickets stubs.

First is Reggie Jackson's first career home run. This is the first time I've ever even seen one of these stubs.

Second is Mike Schmidt's 4 home run game in Wrigley Field. I collect 4 Home Run games and still need four more for the modern era players.

Most of what you have posted are too small to see very well, but it appears that nearly all include the Cubs in unique to 1909 road uniforms at the Polo Grounds in it's 1909 state of contruction. However, in your array of really small images, 2 down and 3 to the right is a famous photo of a pre-game argument before the Merkle game replay on 10-8-1908.

milkit1 07-15-2015 09:37 AM

Yeah I'm using the scan that the seller had. When I get them in hand I'll post better photos. Those 1909 cubs jerseys are my favorite all-time jerseys. Yeah that seems more likely to be the game. Pretty awesome to have a photo from it )

milkit1 07-15-2015 09:41 AM

I'm also wondering if a couple of the action shots are from that game. I'll be able to tell better when I get them in hand

Always wanted one of these. 2013 main field home plate from yankee stadium. Yankees went 5-2 during a 7 game homestand. Some big things during this homestand included 2 walk off wins, 2 blown saves by Rivera, A-rod first homer of 2013, Miguel Cabrera 3 homeruns, Mike Trout several hits including a homer and Alfonso Soriano became only the third live ball ERA player to have back to back 6 plus RBI games. He ended up hitting 5 homers during this homestand.

I was finally able to cross a long sought after item off my wantlist. Mike Egner (the pennant guy; Lefty147 on the board) picked this up in Missouri and sold it to me. After some hard fought negotiations :D, Mike got about 60% of what he was after and I paid double what I wanted ;). Mike is in Boise and I'm in Salt Lake...he didn't want to ship it and I didn't want to drive six hours and burn $125 in gas...as it so happens, I have a Las Vegas friend whose son lives in Boise. He had a trip planned anyway, so he picked it up and hand delivered it to me. I spent some time cleaning it up and put a new 15' cord on it with an in-line switch. I think it ended up where it was meant to be :D. The two shown in another picture are two I already owned. I think there's one more...

Thanks. It kind of screams "1960's," doesn't it? I forgot to mention, my new acquisition also contains a San Francisco 49er's team photo and 9 other, non sport screens. They scroll manually by using two knobs on the right hand side.
