Well, I guess I'll go again. 1923 Zeenut Waner. Sorry for the small picture, I took it from the e-bay listing.

November Pickups
I have been blessed lately. Just won these and don’t have them in hand quite yet.

Hey Jon, Did you win the '08 Pirate Vignette lot from the latest Hunt Auction?
(Nice pick ups BTW) Quote:

Thanks. No I was an underbidder on it. Would have liked those but with my pickups recently I had to hold back

I thought I had put in a good bid on them. Only really wanted the Gibson. Had to tap out early too.

I had posted these in REA thread but since I rec'd them yesterday, posting here too. I hope you don't mind. Last time I owned an e121 Ruth, I had 2 in nice condition. Sold them both for $500. And now, 25 years later - gulp!

A few Obaks. All but one of these previously resided in SGC 2,3, or 4 holders. They now look stellar in my binder. Love these things! I got distracted for a while, but I am back at the Obaks and am up to fifty something.

Great stuff Aaron! Love the E121!
This came today, lightning fast shipping from REA. Pretty excited about this one. Has anyone ever seen another? C. 1925-1926 RPPC. REA states it has never seen another and believes the man behind the automobile wheel to be Brother Matthias. From pictures I've seen it certainly is! Check out photo bellow I found, must have been taken same day and time of Ruth and Brother Matthias next to the automobile. The other player is Fred Merkle (smoking cigar) who was only with the Yankees those 2 years. REA didn't name anyone else in the picture. Can anyone else confirm or have guesses as to other people in the image? Is the woman Helen Woodford Ruth? I believe it is but would like a bit more confirmation. I feel like the guy next to woman with open suit top and striped tie looks familiar but maybe not (possibly a player?)... Can anyone name the other priests, or confirm that this is likely in front of St. Marys Industrial School? Also does anyone know of Brother Matthias being on any other card or postcard? I've wanted a vintage photo or any type of collectible of Brother Matthias now for some time and think I may have just found one of, if not the top one! The image quality is spectacular! Other known pictures of Helen at bottom |
Love that Roush Brian!

Great pickups for everyone and looks like November might be the start of the Christmas season. Here are some early pickups. Special thanks to a board member who was willing to part with this special Otsego RPPC after having it for 37 years.

Donahue T204
1 Attachment(s)
Went to the Shriner's show yesterday. Traded off some duplicates and picked up another T204 catcher. The card was misidentified by PSA as Jiggs (John) Donahue. The card is actually Patrick Donahue, who was John's brother, and he played for the Red Sox.

This card is well-loved with tons of character -- I'm glad someone long ago decided it was worthwhile to keep around! :D

Great stuff, everyone!
On the lower end, I was happy to fill a few small holes in my set. These proved a little more elusive than I expected. Blackburne SC 350/25 and Hoffman Sovereign. Attachment 293806 Attachment 293807 |

Only one graded, and one of coolest names....and first baseball pin set, I believe...He once gave up 4 home runs in game to Ed Delehanty--but pitched CG and won 9-8....Olbermann loves this set....
