Baseball Name Game - Do you have what it takes?
 

I use to play this on long road trips with my friends and family and it was a lot of fun.

Winner of this game receives a mystery prize.

RULES: NO CHEATING AND USING GOOGLE OR ANY OTHER SOURCES!

-You must wait at least 10 posts between answers.

-1 strike and you are out.

Ways to get a strike (not answering a post within 24 hours OR repeating an already used answer OR making up a person that never played MLB baseball)

Here is how it works.

I will start with a player (can only be a player that played in the MLB or still does).

The next poster must name a player who's first name starts with first letter of my players last name.

Example..... I SAY "JOE SHMOE"..... YOU SAY "SALLY RIGGINS".


ONLY EXCEPTION..

If you say a name such as "JOE SCMO" and someone responds with "Sally Simpson" it then goes back to me as a Same letter for the first and last name sends the game back to the previous poster.

Actually Gary Gaetti sent it back to Stephen at 140 , so all entries after 140 should be removed and Stephen would start again. I think the key here is to quit bringing Stephen back into the loop so often

The uncomfortably painful feeling I get from viewing this thread is the same feeling I would get if I was watching a bunch of chimpanzees trying to explain Einstein's theory of relativity. :D

Wouldn't have gone quite that far, but we were starting to get the same feeling we get
when we have to moderate our ten-year-old granddaughters squabbling over the rules
to whatever boardgame they're playing...

Up to Stephen, but maybe what's needed here is a full-time referee, and a clock -- if there's
no response for say, two hours, the last correct answer wins...

Also, doesn't the double-initial / bounce-back-to-the-previous-poster rule conflict with the
must-wait-for-ten-other-responses-before-posting-again rule?

Damn you Richie Zisk for being so young! Rollie Zeider would have been just as easy to use if I only had known he existed.

Looks like Rollie was one of your guys from up Chicago way Shoeless. Only player to hit HOMERUNS for all three major league Chicago teams.

His nickname Bunion was the result of a spike wound when Detroit Tigers outfielder Sam Crawford spiked his "bunion" during a play. Zeider's bunion became a news item when he was traded after the injury and his new club, the New York Yankees, later protested that the White Sox had not informed them that Zeider was injured at the time of the trade.
