Joe, I've researched dozens of manufacturers responsible for sports novelty products from the past century, and I've never heard of Ken Poulsen Associates.

Or, these "Big Sport" rugs.

Interesting product. Cool artwork. Thanks for sharing! Love to see the others made for other teams! :)

Kyle, it seems there are many of them out there, with a bunch on ebay right now. Some like the Penn State are quite common, while others like the IU one I think are very rare. I discovered them when I ran across a Cornell rug, the first and only one I have seen in all my years collecting. There is even one for your Irish (although it doesn’t specifically say ND). If they don’t have their tag, they are not identified as a Poulsen Big Sport. The Wisconsin one is newer, based on the tag, and you can see they improved the quality of the graphics. It seems they stopped making them some time in the 80s. The original tag listed them as a business in Wisconsin, while later tags had various addresses in FL.

I am guessing they started around 1970. Here is a crude “Pirate” rug, followed by a more recent WV rug, and their most recent tag with a 1984 copyright.

I like those. I’d be all over a SF Giants rug but I suspect they stuck with midwest and northeast teams.

That stinks, Sean. :( Are you thinking these sellers just cancel the sale and relist at a higher minimum/BIN or that they take someone else’s offer? The latter seems like something ebay wouldn’t allow….unless it’s still an ebay sale and they get “their cut.”

I’ve also seen Twins, Mets, and Cubs too and lots of different colleges.

This UT rug is very nice, unlicensed which could indicate an earlier creation. The Kentucky rug looks like a knock off of a Chipenco or Collegiate Ames design.

The Ken Poulsen co. is a bit of a ghost. I’ve only come across this listing from a 1962 Madison WI directory, where they appear to have started business.

Those rugs bring me back to my childhood looking through the Sears catalog. Those are the sorts of things that I'd be asking for my birthday.

Here's a couple of new arrivals today.

Nice arrivals Gary….one of the rugs I came across did actually have a Sears price tag on it, $5.50 back in the day for one of these.

These are cool. There must be at least a dozen different Trench Tigers pennants with a small or large Briggs/Tiger stadium graphic. Other companies made a bunch, too. Domer would know more, but I guess the Tigers concessionaires really had a uniquely high interest in selling pennants and ordering/requesting new designs. By far the Tigers have the most “dated” pennants, I think there may be Tigers pennants with years from the early 1930s to around 1953.

I know we have Tigers collector here, wondering if he collects the different years.

What is that Giants Team premium top left?
