My humble Brooks.
1957 was the third set my Dad and I managed to complete in my teens. Even then, this creased Brooks was the most expensive card in the build, we got Mantle for like $30 but Brooks was around $50 for even a bad one with a lot of patience. I remember being surprised just how popular this one was, even from the tougher series. Glad we put this set together back then |

met up with a longtime collector friend last evening who is getting on in years and is slowly selling off his collection, however he isn't computer savvy and asked for my help...
This Brooks VHS tape is from 1988 however it's a 30 minute piece he did with George Plimpton in the late 1970's...I did test it this morning and it plays fine although I think it's more collectible as a display piece... ***************SOLD**************** |

was going through some items yesterday and I ran across this unique 1980 home schedule "fan" from the Charlotte O's (also have one from 1981 signed by a handful of players)...
1980 was Cal's breakout season as he hit 25 homers, knocked in 78 runs while hitting .276 couldn't remember if I had posted it before but in case I hadn't: |

I'm sure a good # of you had heard about the passing of Art Schallock, who passed away yesterday at the age of 100 (and who was the oldest living MLB player)...
Art was one of 23 pitchers the Orioles used in 1955 as he appeared in 30 games with a 3-5 record....... |
Here is something I got a while ago and think it's super cool. An original photo stamped Aug 1961, of a boy named Jimmy Brown. He has a few fans of 1961 topps all star high numbers and MVPs. Brooks is front and center of his right hand. Hank Sauer and Willie mays show well in his left hand. You don't really see period photos of cards themselves (aside from a few famous ones showing packs on shelves).
The title the newspaper seemed to have given this photo is "Hobby card collection". Hope you all enjoy. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...67d2529165.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...8a7db00bba.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...2f9ef09de5.jpg |
Orioles Advertisement Signs
2 Attachment(s)
A couple advertisement cardboard signs. Guessing the Catch the Magic Orioles Express is from 1984. It references the AL Champions and Memorial Memorial Stadium. The second one is from 1984 (February 12, 1984 was a Sunday).

Lucas, I really like that photo!

Former Oriole outfielder Carl Warwick passed away last week at the age of 88.
Carl was purchased from the St. Louis Cardinals in July of 1965 and appeared in only nine games that season before being dealt to the Cubs during ST in '66: |

I just saw where Chito Martinez, former Orioles outfielder, passed away today at age 59.
He played for the Orioles from 1991-1993, appearing in 158 games. Here's a couple of his team issued postcards from 1991-1992 and a team issued 8x10 photo. Attachment 658536 Attachment 658537 Attachment 658538 |

That’s a great item Mark. Is that a sticker?

1968 AS Sticker
Is that a proof, Mark?

Brooks Robinson
Is that a sticker? Is that a proof… really both are correct. It is a progressive proof of the 1968 Topps Action All-Star Stickers w/Brooks Robinson, Sam McDowell and Tony Perez. I may have posted it in the past, just can’t recall, but figure I would keep the thread going with something interesting (at least to me).

Brooks Robinson Sculpture - Robert Hogan
3 Attachment(s)
Happy Heavenly Birthday to the greatest 3d baseman of all time. Brooksie would have been 88 today. God Bless.
Posted this on FB. The bronze sculpture is from 1998 by Robert Hogan. #19 of 36. The exceptionally detailed sculpture captures the Hall of Fame third baseman doing what he did best, with this particular pose lifted directly from tape of the 1970 World Series. The custom engraved plate has inscriptions of his career accomplishments listed as follows: "16 Gold Gloves 1960-1973, All Star Game MVP 1966, World Series MVP 1970, 18 All Star Games, AL MVP 1964, Hall of Fame 1983, Roberto Clemente Award 1972." The plaque is signed by Robinson in perfect black sharpie. Another plaque affixed to the wooden base reads, "Brooks Robinson, 'Human Vacuum Cleaner. Measures an impressive 12x20x8 weighing about 40 pounds. |
Nice pickup! Your room is looking awesome in the background…

I saw this piece today, figured the bobblehead was just glued onto a 60s lamp base but the shade itself apparently illuminates the Os logo when on. So I'm thinking it was made attached to the base, not added later.
Couldn't find anything else like it. Any info? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...45dcc9afd0.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...dd8ad24113.jpg |
Lamp
The shade looks like a common 1950s or so decal out there. Maybe someone affixed on inside with a store bought shade. Seeing back of bobblehead would be interesting.
Never seen. Thanks for sharing. |
1968 Atlantic Oil Brooks Robinson Gift Play Ball Game Panel
2 Attachment(s)
NFS - here is one you don’t see everyday. Posted on FB, too. Fresh from PSA. Excited to “slab” it to protect it from being separated. 1968 Atlantic Oil Brooks Robinson Gift Play Ball Game Panel. This one is unique with the Spcial Gift Award still attached. Not in the beat shape but happy it was graded as PSA 1 vice Authentic. Never seen one before.
The Brooks Robinson Master includes the single card with Brooks either Play Ball Back or Game Rules Back but not the Panel shown below. |

Orioles
I don’t know for sure, but from what I’ve seen in the past was companies would make lamps and use nodders that were imported to the US. So, I don’t know of a baseball lamp that was originally shipped this way. Now if you consider another company making the vintage lamps with nodders then I’ve seen several different ones. Any sticker affixed to bottom or another maker mark on the lamp?
The Atlantic Oil piece is very cool and unique. I’ve never seen one that was intact. Hopefully PSA will add it for you. |

The backstory for the B&W Red Wings program - They played the Denver Bears in the Junior World Series in 1971. The Bears got thrown out of their stadium by the NFL Denver Broncos. So all 7 games of the series were played in Rochester. They ran out of programs early on and printed more in B&W. So if you have a B&W version it is also a Junior World Series program. |

Scott Klingenbeck a RHP who pitched in seven games for the Orioles back in 1994-95 passed away on May 20th at the age of 54....
I attended Klingenbeck's debut (ironically 31 years ago today) where he pitched 7 innings, giving up 3 earned runs, defeating Detroit 11-8 (Cal Ripken Jr. also hit his 301st career HR in that game). A few days days later I mailed my ticket stub to Scott (who had been sent down to Bowie), who graciously signed and returned it. RIP Scott |
