Not on the wall quite yet. I know people differ on this when framing pennants, but I like the tassels straight out, which makes the frame pretty big. The downside is that I could not get a suede mat quite big enough for the entire frame. So it's not perfect (one joint). But I hate to pay big $$ for professional framing. I ordered the frame, but did the backing and assembly myself. The photo makes the joint more noticeable than it looks in person.

It looks great! I love the tassels straight out also. The pennant is the focal point so I don’t think the joint in the matting is a big deal.

I agree with everyone else. It looks great Marc.

Does the suede backing prevent the pennant moving?

Yes, the suede mat holds the pennant in place.

There are a number of framed pennants in the current Hunt auction. Some are clearly attached to the backing with some kind of thread. See the attached pic (to the right of the 1924). It seems like that method doesn't hold things in place all that well, leads to some puckering, and also could damage the pennant. I'm not sure what the other options are (tape?).

I used my one last scrap, made some no room for error cuts with an exacto knife, and was able to get the seam in the mat under the spine. Now I just need to find some wall space.

The two things that really hold me back are lack of wall space and of course money. Other than that I would go crazy. 😁

Maybe the blue Painters Tape? I would never use any tape/adhesive that's more intrusive or "stitch" a pennant to the mat.

I much prefer to apply gentle pressure of the glass/acrylic... just enough to hold the pennant in place without inflicting any damage. I've never incurred one iota of damage (doing it the same way as your Oversized Giants) for the past 35 years.

From the “Companion Pieces” thread…

Were these just someone else’s pennants? WGN’s maybe?
