Haven't seen too many T204s posted in this thread, so I thought I'd add one.
I would really like to pick up an Anderson with a TTT back (and a square frame too) one of these days... https://www.collectorfocus.com/image...mly-blank-back |

Who said the Wicky McAvoy didn't have a baseball card?
With the unexpected death of Mike Powers; no "name plate" scrap from the cut sheets; good typewriter work of A's office secretary; ..... Poof! https://www.net54baseball.com/pictur...ictureid=30243 |
C46 "Salida" Tom Hughes.
E91C "Long" Tom Hughes; ..... or is that Eddie Plank? Nope it says it is Tom Hughes; even though it looks like Eddie Plank; .... and Tom Hughes was a right-handed pitcher. Then again, so was Big Train. (I know all the back story of E91; just felt a little whimsical) https://www.net54baseball.com/pictur...ictureid=30246 https://www.net54baseball.com/pictur...ictureid=30245 |

For those who think it wasn't a big deal; to have your own baseball card back then; George Pierce had a T210 and a C46, but not a "major league" card. Ironic, that Harry Steinfeldt passes; someone creates a M116 with their typewriter skills. Heck, Brian; who's to say that George's fingerprints aren't all over that beauty that you own? At least, family or friends prints. Things that make you go, Hmmmm. (this stuff finds me) Feel free to discuss amongst yourselves. I love stuff like this. Ben. |

Today's card is a Sociedade Industrial from my type set.
I would like to see some more of these (and even the color tinted Tabacalera la Morena versions) if you have them! https://www.collectorfocus.com/image...ade-industrial |

So this is the last Rodine I have. It is the premium referenced on the bottom of the PC I showed earlier this week. About 8 x 10, same card stock. If anyone is in love with it, I also have a second one available for trade: https://photos.imageevent.com/exhibi...20Ruth%201.jpg |

Grasshopper Whitney
1 Attachment(s)
Jim Whitney came into MLB in 1881 with the Boston Red Caps and led the NL in wins that rookie season. Two years later, still with Boston now the Beaneaters, he not only led the NL in strikeouts, but posted a 37-21 record and a 2.24 ERA in 514 innings pitched. In the pre-rubber era Whitney came up in, his distinctive way of hopping toward the front of the pitcher's box as he delivered, gained him the nickname "Grasshopper". Sadly, he finished his career with the Philadelphia Athletics in 1890 and then died (of TB) the following year at the age of 33. Grasshopper pitched for the Washington Senators in 1887-1888 and left this baseball card.

I have always liked this George Connally Sport Kings card that mysteriously appears complete on front while missing a good portion of the top on the back. Add Jim Thorpe's image, name, and write-up, and you have one humdinger of a funky card.

After that Mantle, I feel required to proceed to the opposite end of the spectrum for something that has very little value, but in my eyes is still cool...a beater T205 of Big Bad Bill Dahlen. Please note that my card is still raw too.

Craw is tough for SF to claim, going to HS in Pleasanton, and originally from the Peninsula (where I grew up). Think the last true SF MLBer was Tyler Walker, and last AS quality guy was probably Willie McGee. Meanwhile the East Bay has produced Jimmy Rollins, Dontrelle Willis, CC Sabathia, and the South Bay guys like Pat Burrell, Troy Tulowitzki, etc. Crazy how many early HOFers came out of SF proper. |
