A window from Forbes Field????!!!! That was torn down nearly 50 years ago, can you tell us the story about how you obtained it?
|
That is simply awesome!
|
This is an amazing display!

Of the 10 surviving windows, six had the original glass and 4 had replacement glass (mine is original). I know one is on display at the National Baseball Park Museum in Denver and I'm assuming all the others are in private collections. |

Wow! It's about time we see an all Cards room added to this great thread...nice! What are you using to hang those pennants like that....just regular hangers with clips?

Laundry hooks clothes pins
Its a product I found on ebay which is perfect for hanging pennants from clothes rack bar. Look under Laundry hooks clothes pins.

Some Collection Room Pics
Here's a few photos of my small collection....I've kept 20-25 gloves and maybe 10-12 bats, few masks and cp's....some local photos...almost everything is either Victor or Spalding brand, with a few others mixed in that I just couldn't give up yet;) The Victor plant was just down the road from where I currently live, and Spalding also had a plant near me, later on mid-century. Most of the photos are from where I grew up in Maine. Enjoy!!

Pictures still coming out great. I love those cabinets you have the vintage equipment in. Overall an outstanding vintage look.
|
WOW... Killer displays, Eric... very elegant and classy!
I love the Thayer Mask and those ancient Chest Protectors. Beautifully displayed, too.... and that Duckweb glove ain't half-bad either. Now it looks like there's still some room on that very bottom shelf of the last Cabinet.... better get busy on that! |
Don't make me Blush...
Haha...thanks for the compliments guys. You have some killer stuff too...especially Mark, I have some of your stuff...half my collection probably lol;)
And yes Mark, I need a couple more stellar Spalding gloves/items...got any?? Anyone?? Haha. The inflatable CP is a Victor, along with most of that gear in that shadow box..and the cabinet with the early baseballs is all Victor and VWD gloves/mitts. The bats aren't actually holding the chest open, but just displayed that way nicely I thought;). Cool story with the Spalding axel tree and photos you see in the trunk...came from the same Maine estate and the bat is pictured in the photo...the two photos are of the same people, same weekend, one year later...date 1891 & '92. The old cigar box on the top shelf of the square cabinet we found when my grandfather passed away when I was 7 yrs old....inside were a bunch of old important sports newspaper clippings, wheaties box cut-outs, and ten 1934-36 pop-out cards...my cousin and I split everything...that's what got me started in collecting cards when I was a kid and eventually to all this...now I'm hunting down the sig model gloves to put next to the cards of each player, a little of his passion with mine...got 3 of the 5 so far;) lol The cabinets I was able to find at local antique shops, and all match pretty nicely...two even coincidentally use the same key...was lucky with that one!! The bat rack, shadow boxes, picture frames...all made by my father...I'm very fortunate to have a super handy father that way..makes the stuff more meaningful to me also;). Again, hope all enjoy. Anyone is welcome to email and chat anytime... glovejunkie@yahoo.com Mark I need more stuff...but can't afford it...what the hell do I do?? |
Display Cabinets
I love the circular display cabinets! I have wanted one for a while but they are expensive to say the least. Nice material as well
|
Eric
Who made the flame burned bat in the middle of the bat rack ? |
Bob, the cabinet are actually Curio cabinets, for china I think?? I picked those up for about $200 each and the square one with glass all round was about double that. Pretty descent price to pay for a good way to display some old vintage equipment...figured why not in some cabinets/furniture about the same era and had the same "look" I wanted. Don't ever break the round glass though..might as well just scrap the whole cabinet;)
Matt, ahhhhh, that bat, how I loved that beauty....it is a killer Brine Knights of Columbus example, that yup came from Mark several years ago now...however just a couple months ago I lent it to the KofC museum in New Haven, CT...along with a beautiful matching Brine KofC full web glove I got from John P. a little while back. Anyway...figured they were in the best spot they could be anyway, so let them keep them...gone to humanity forever!! Anyone got a banana bat or something cool I could fill the spot with?? |

The Catcher on the wall is AWESOME!
|
A lot of awesome stuff! I love the bat-a-ball. It looks like a really comfortable space. Thanks for sharing.
|
Excellent display. Love the pinball machine, and the pine tar is a great touch. How about a pic of what's above the sofa?
|
What an awesome room!
Mike |
Awesome room! If you don't mind me asking how did you hang your catcher on the wall?
|
I've never seen bunting added around the ceiling line like that. Very cool way to bring it all together. Great room.
Drew |
Thanks for the comments guys! I had a few more pics to add, but for whatever reason they won't upload.
I hung the catchers gear on wall with just nails. I let the straps of chest protector drape over the nails. I wound the straps of the knee guards around nails too. They fit nice and snug of that way. I screwed a C bracket to the wall, and stuck the mitt right on top. |
Very creative.... love it!
That is a killer Pinch Hitter Machine. Very cool layout.... looks fabulous, functional and fun! |

I found the bat hangers on eBay unfinished. I just painted them black and distressed them with fine sandpaper.
Here are a couple more photos of the other areas. Thanks again for the comments! With four kids, making it fun and functional was one of my goals. It's really cool when they tell their buddies about the different pieces. This thread has been awesome! Gained so many ideas from all the different rooms. |
Jared,
Very well thought out room. Looks extremely cool! |

I just moved into a new home last month and my wife encouraged me to finally go for it and display some of my collection. Much to my surprise, she got the theme I was going for-- a locker room--and insisted I share on Net54 with my "baseball card friends". Still need two more game issued/used hats to round out that piece... One day...
