I remember listening to the game on the radio. The Senators were winning until the fans ran the field late in the 9th inning and started ripping the place apart. A fitting end to the jack wagon that was Bob Short. Dude stole my team and took them to Texas.

Some thing can never be forgiven. Until the Nationals won a World Series I never thought I would see in my lifetime!!!! I still hate Bob Short but still have the memories.

Senators radio broadcast by the late Ron Menchine, who was quite a baseball memorabilia collector and noted expert on vintage baseball postcards.

My sister ended up giving me all of her Senators game stubs. I even got the 69 All-Star game stub from her too. I loved the intro to the Senators radio games. Shelby Whitfield and Ron Menchine along with a punk sports caster from WTOP, Warner Wolf. Those were the days.

Very few teams have labeled tickets with the words audit stub (although there are at least a couple that I can think of) and none have ever labeled them as a patron stub. The patron stub portion would have the info on it regarding "rain check", which is what they would need to get a ticket for another game should the game get rained out.

I picked this up not too long ago because it was a little unusual. Sandy Koufax pitched 4 innings and Don Drysdale pitched 2 innings. It was televised on the Los Angeles Spanish language tv station KMEX channel 34.

That is a cool ticket. I've never seen one and it's pretty unusual.

Are you trying to get one from each game?! Nice project. I started out with this and then kept buying more and more. I'm now at 430 games and counting. That is a great ticket that I assume you got from REA. This is my pickup.

First Game on the west coast and Debut of Hall of Famer Orlando Cepeda. Expensive but not surprising with the debut mania these days.

Very nice pickup! Currently my project is solely focused on a ticket/stub from each World Series from 1920 - current day. You are also correct, it came from the REA auction. The 1921 went a little high for what I was looking at.

As many of you know, for many years I have collected tickets to no-hitters and perfect games.
Currently I have tickets to about 230 different no-hit games out of the 313 that have been pitched in ML history.
166 of these tickets are signed by the pitcher that threw the no-hitter.
FYI, I hope to write a book on no-hitters when I retire...
Additionally, I intend to put an unusual spin on the great books that have already been written on the topic.

The elusive tickets that I am still looking for are, without a doubt, "black swans" and locating them can prove to be quite a collecting challenge.
Literally like finding a needle in a haystack. A long slog, but I really love it! :)

I have determined, for a variety of reasons, that many would never likely be findable.
For that reason, I occasionally look for a suitable "filler" for my collection, especially if the game/games that it covers are particularly historic and noteworthy.
Although I am late with this post, I'm excited to have found a beautiful addition to my collection at The National in Chicago a few weeks ago.
This pickup fits this description...

Background:
In the history of baseball, only 3 times have no-hitters been pitched on consecutive days in the same ballpark. These 3 no-hit duets are:

Gaylord Perry (Sept. 17th, 1968) and Ray Washburn (Sept. 18, 1968) @ SF
Jim Maloney (April 30, 1969) and Don Wilson (May 1, 1969) @ Cincinnati

The 3rd time this occured was much earlier in 1917 @ StL. Browns
Ernie Koob (May 5, 1917) and Bob Groom (May 6th, 1917). Also of interest is that both games were pitched against a very good opponent the CWS, with the losing pitchers both times being excellent pitchers in their own right.
In fact, both LP's Eddie Cicotte and Joe Benz each pitched their own no-hitter in 1917 and 1914, respectively.

At The National I found this beautiful 1917 StL Browns Annual Pass that is signed by Browns owner Neal Ball.
Neal Ball's autograph in of itself is quite rare as he had a death date of 1933.

1915 Federal Leauge Stubs
 

I pucked these up a few years ago. I have a couple Newark tickets from a season book. But Actual Stubs from the Fedetal league are scarce. I will send the Brooklyn stub to PSA in my next order since I like the way they look in the case. I belive the game for Chicago was vs Buffalo in July 26th with 3 finger Brown losing 3 to 2 despite him giving up no earned runs. But if anyone has a 1915 Complete Federal leauge Schedule they could share a picture of I would much appreciate it.

They are not that easy to find ,I was just lucky to find these in a few weeks apart, for sure they are easier to find in my area there were 48000 people at the game pretty sure alot of them kept their ticket stub

Here's my ticket to Capitoline from the 1866-'67 season. It was home to the Brooklyn Atlantic and other early teams, and many important match games were played there. In the winter, they used the field as a skating rink. I don't know whether this ticket was used for a baseball game, skating, or both. But it has a space for a Box #, which I'm not sure how that would be used for skating. If it's from 1866-1867 season that indicates it's a winter season, like hockey or basketball. I think it's safe to assume this was for the skating season.

I just picked up this type 1 photo from the 1937 All Star game and a ticket to the game. My first on both fronts. Very cool game -- FDR threw out the first pitch, Gehrig homered, Dizzy Dean sadly got a liner in the toe that effectively ended the best part of his career. Anyway, love both.

HOF Hoyt Wilhelm 1st win, 1st K, 1st HR ticket stub
 

Trivia question: What two HOF'ers hit a HR in their 1st ML at bat?

Ironically, HOF RHP Hoyt Wilhelm was one of them.
Wilhelm, primarly used as a relief pitcher for most of his amazing 21 year career, was the 2nd to accomplish this feat.
In the 70 years since, it hasn't happened again...

On April 23, 1952 Wilhelm came into the game in relief of Giants starting pitcher Roger Bowman in the 3rd inning.
Wilhelm pitched 5.1 innings and struck out 3 batters including Braves SS Jack Cusick for his 1st career K.
In the bottom of the 4th inning, Wilhelm homered in his 1st career ML at bat and NEVER HIT ANOTHER HR IN HIS 21 YEAR CAREER.
Oh yeah, he also recorded his 1st career win in this game, retiring at age 49 with 143 career wins against 122 losses, a career ERA of only 2.52.
For many years he held the ML record of appearing in an amazing 1070 games.

I've had this ticket on my want list for many years because of the unique history surrounding this game.
I'm really happy to have finally found it, especially since a measly 4611 fans attended this game. :cool:

By the way, in case you're interested, HOF centerfielder Earl Averill was the only other HOF'er to homer in his 1st ML at bat in 1929...

Nice find Scott, here is simalar one from a Expos pitcher who definitely is not a HOF'er, Expos pitcher Carlos Perez in his 1st MLB start hits his 1st career HR in his 2nd career at bat , and picks up his 1st career win

Just picked up a 1951 Game 2 WS Ticket (last game Mantle and DiMaggio played together where mantle hurt his knee) at the Philly Non-sport show.

Also got game 1 and 2 of 1977 World Series, so now I guess I get to start finding the rest.

In all likelihood this ticket has little meaning to anyone other me. I’m sharing it to give other ticket stub hunters hope and also to move this thread to the front. When I started searching for 1971 Pirates stubs I knew it was likely an impossible task. Those games were 50 years ago and the lowest attendance for a Pirate game that season was 3,114 fans. I was resigned to the fact that stubs like that would sink me. Then out of the blue a kind member ggary reached out to me to inform me that he purchased that very stub for me because he suspected I needed it. Wow! What a guy! Thanks Gary! For all of you searching for that elusive stub on your list don’t give up! Sometimes they fall in your lap out of the kindness of strangers.

1903 WS (1st WS) is probably the Holy Grail.

Then probably Game 8 of 1919 WS.

1927 WS Game 4 - Best Team ever SWEEPS

I recently picked up these Dodgers 4 home runs + 1 home run tickets.

On May 22, 2002 Shawn Green hit 4 home runs and then the next day hit one home run.

On September 18, 2006 the Dodgers were trailing 9-5 in the bottom of the ninth. Jeff Kent, JD Drew, Russell Martin and Marlon Anderson hit consecutive home runs to tie the game. Down 10-9 in the 10th inning Nomar Garciaparra hit a 2-run walk-off home run to win the game.

As for the Sept 18, 2006 game :
The Dodgers were losing 6 to 5 going into the 9th, and the Padres padded their lead with 3 runs of Takashi Saito, sending many fans for their cars (including my lovely wife).

In the bottom of the 9th Jeff Kent led off by hitting a 1-0 pitch over the centerfield wall, then some guy who we wouldn't of had playing for us if we had kept Adrian Beltre sent a 1-2 pitch over the right-centerfield wall. I hate that guy so much I won't mention his name, although he was later involved in a four HR in a row game with the Red Sox. F that guy, he can't even spell his own initials.

At this point, still leading by 2 runs, Bochy brought in famed Dodger killer Trevor Hoffman, to stop the bleeding.

Russell Martin deposited Hoffman's first pitch in the left field bleachers, then Marlon Anderson sent Hoffman's second pitch in the bleachers in right center to tie the game.

Julio Lugo sent Hoffman's third pitch deep to right, but the hopes of the remaining crowd weren't enough to push it over the wall for the victory.

Olmedo Saenz popped to short, Rafael Furcal flied out to right, and it was on to the 10th, where the Padres managed to score a run (thankfully not another run for some guy named Piazza who had started the scoring for the Padres in the first inning). They left the bases loaded when Jeff Blum, who was 2-3 with a run and 2 rbi flied out to right off Aaron Sele (the eventual winner).

In the Dodger's 10th Rudy Seanez walked Kenny Lofton on 7 pitches, and would have walked Nomahhhh Garciaparra had he not dropped the 3-1 pitch into the left centerfield bleachers.

So, to recap - the Dodgers sent 9 men to the plate and scored 6 runs on 5 homers and a walk.

Rafael Furcal led off the game the next night with first pitch homer, for the 6th Dodger HR in 10 batters, but they got their butts kicked that night.

Here are my scorecards from the big game... ironically, I don't know where the ticket is, hahahaha. Well, it's probably in the box of tickets that I have from my season ticket holder days.

I just picked up a very scarce Boston Doves (NL) annual pass to cover Big Jeff Pfeffer's no-hitter on May 8, 1907.
This is another no-hit ticket that I'm certain that I would never find as only 2,696 fans attended this game.
The pass is in remarkable condition for being 114 years old.

Francis Xavier "Big Jeff" Pfeffer no-hit the Cincinnati Reds 6-0, issuing 1 walk, 1 hit batsman and 3 strikeouts.

I received this Sandy Koufax’s career win #5 ticket stub today. The first Koufax Brooklyn win ticket that I own.

I also recently received this 1939 Dodgers ticket for a game that was the first game a color fast yellow dye was used. MLB had a few games in 1938-39 that used a yellow baseball to see if it was safer for players to play with and easier for fans to see. In the first game a yellow ball was used the Dodgers pitcher Fitzsimmons had the yellow dye all over on his shirt where he wiped his hands.

Call me crazy but as I look at recent sales of other stubs I think the Clemente 3000 hit stub is under valued. I believe that may change this year. I base this opinion on a couple of factors. It is the career defining event of a beloved and highly collected figure. This being the 50th anniversary of the event and his passing will generate increased media attention. What are your thoughts? Are there any other stubs out there that you think are under valued considering today’s market?

Leon gave me permission to share this here. I have two Roberto Clemente 3000 hit stubs in my collection. Goldin Auctions will be auctioning off this one in their Feb 25th online auction. I will be donating a portion of the proceeds to the Roberto Clemente Museum in Pittsburgh. These seldom become available. Although it wasn’t my intention I was fortunate to have landed two in a single month. PSA has slabbed 27 of these to date. I wanted to share it with the Net54 community as I didn’t want any collector who might be looking for one of these to miss out on an opportunity to add one to his or her collection.

Great ticket. Its been quite a while since one of these came to auction, at least well before the run up in ticket prices. It will be interesting to see what this one goes for given the current ticket market.
