Awesome to have another racing collector on the board. There was another racing thread on the main board with lots of knowledge and information that people used to post in before migrating over to this thread.

Both threads contain lots of great racing card discussion, but this one is where just about all the racing discussion takes place these days.

Thank you! Read through that thread too - and saw a mention of the 1937 Wilbur Shaw Board Game cards. Just received my first two graded back from CGC and just missing three to finish my entire set! Also, sending out Avalon Hill cards out for TTM - up to 25 different signed in the past three months.

Awesome projects. I have been outbid on a couple Ray Harroun Shaw game cards on eBay Cards from the set don't show up for auction too often.

For anyone looking for a Norris card, his most desirable card is from the 2020 Topps set -- card No. 7. There are tons of parallels and a short-printed image variation, but card No. 7 is the Norris card to have.

Norris does have a 2018-2019 "Top Prospects" card during his time in F2 that pre-dates the Topps 2020 card. The F2 card can be found fairly cheap on ebay, but doesn't seem to have gained much traction at all in term of collector desirability. I know pretty much nothing about the "Top Prospects" card, where it was produced, how it was distributed, etc.

I had not pursued any Norris cards, because I never really thought he was going to win an F1 title.

Verstappen, who is still easily the best driver on the circuit, really gave him and Piastri a run for their money at the end.

I'd guess this is a one and done for Norris. I think Piastri laps him next year, and Verstappen keeps on making runs unless he somehow ends up in a really shitty car.

Never even seen those "Top Prospects" cards until now. Maybe they came from somewhere legitimate, but I'm dubious of even the time frame they are listed for, unless I see some additional evidence.

Too many of these fantasy/borders type sets, are also pre-dated, years before they were actually made up and thrown into the market. Something fishy about those, especially looking at the driver selection of the ones listed on Ebay.

You are probably correct about that Norris card being a fantasy card. I had never really dug deep into his card options beyond Topps prior to Sunday.

I did lots of searching with various terms for information on the Top Prospects card and the only thing I could find other than eBay links is a very bare bones website that lists a checklist but no other information.

If anything, that checklist makes me less confident these cards are legitimate and not some fantasy thing printed recently and labeled 2019.

Cards of Wembanyama, Caitlin Clark, Alcaraz? They were like 14-15 years old in 2019.

HaHa, that pretty much clinches it. Don't think you have to worry about getting the Lando Norris card. Obviously a fantasy set, but more important to me...I doubt it was produced before 2022 or so. Probably not even that old.

What clinches it for me, is Victor Wembanyama is listed in the 2019 set. Dude was 15 years old, and was just being recognized by French basketball scouts, forget the rest of the world.

Also, no evidence of the Wembanyama card exists online, outside of the checklist. May not even have been created yet, for all we know.

Also, a little nugget from that website. Created in August of 2021. Updated on August of 2025. Doesn't prove much really...but you can probably guess where I'm going with this.

I've said it before, I don't care so much about the Fantasy aspect of unlicensed type sets. I think they have their place and can be interesting as long as people understand what they're getting. I think we'd have a lot less interesting cards (especially oddball sports and non-sports) through the years without them. I despise when they are purposely mis-dated in an attempt to cash in on the "Rookie" or "Pre-Rookie" phenomenon. I don't think these are "fun", but are purposefully deceitful.

Yeah, just beat me to it...and in less words. I didn't even notice Clark on the list. :D

Didn't know who she was, but looked her up...and she was 12 years old in 2019.

That is a good catch. I didn't really go through the checklist to notice the obvious problem that many of the subjects were unknown at the time of supposed printing. I know the same issue happened with Lewis Hamilton when the Topps sets first came out and there was much debate as to what his true rookie card is.

Anecdotally, there doesn't seem to be much of a temporary bump in Norris prices. Prices across the board for F1 are way down from the Covid/Drive To Survive mania, but I expected more of a bump from Norris winning the championship on Sunday.

Call me old fashioned but when it comes to early cards of drivers, I look to team issues and postcards because I want the earliest card, not the earliest card from a pack:
