Thanks This was a labor of love. It was cut in 12 pices when I got it. It was on the bottom of a box of Wheaties backs from 36 to 41. I had it restored then framed up with museum glass and frame itself is white ash. I have had it for over 40 years and thought I would find another but never did so finally fixed it up about 5 years ago. Glad I did..Great thread.

I guess you already know my feelings on the LS bat ad poster, but just to reinforce the idea; it’s a FANTASTIC piece. |
Thanks Matt! Growing up my dad frequently received gasoline and petroliana auction flyers plastered with all these colorful advertising items. I was intrigued by that stuff but 1990s baseball cards were my thing at the time lol. It wasnt until I was at a gasoline show with my dad, again I was still a youngster probably 11, that I stumbled upon a reproduction Ted William's root beer metal sign. I then discovered that I could collect baseball AND advertising all wrapped up in one. My dad passed away 4 years ago and these signs I've posted were purchased since he's been gone. I regret not getting involved in gas and oil with my dad. The Nourse sign reminds me of my dad alot because he had an identical sign hanging in his shop growing up that he ended up selling. The man who sold it to him had kids who used it for sledding in the snow lol. One side was nice, the other side not so much lol. At least the kids used the same side surface side down each time:rolleyes:

Thank you. When I finally got it restored and saw how it looked I instantly regretted not doing it sooner.

Resurrecting this thread because it didn't seem to be limited to pre-war advertising exclusively. So my most recent quarantine lock-down find from the corner of one of my rooms -

Another Union Oil window display for Dodger's 100th anniversary Pin give-away. I also had the opportunity to have several Dodger's sign next to pins most closely associated with their tenure. Sadly, there's a fading Sandy Koufax between the two lower left pins. Should have brought a new sharpie. The reverse has a Wes Parker signature. Not sure why I had him sign it there.

Love the two Reds pieces Chris, and as always, they look great against the exposed brick!

I’ve long been jealous of the quality vintage on here.
Today I picked up this awesome Schrafft’s cutout on FB Marketplace. Unfortunately it’s been glued and matted so it no longer has its original stand etc. But as a display piece it’s in remarkably good condition and highly aesthetic. Someone mentioned on here before it’s from the early 30s and there could be up to 10 styles but this is only “right fielder” I could find. Anybody got any more info on these? Schrafft’s is a local legend in Boston and New York so it fits well in my Red Sox collection. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...010a329fd1.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...025441a93f.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...65e4ad05c6.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

This is the original artwork to a Little Golden Book (1960) for one of the pages of Flags. Its large, pristine and colorful. More importantly it reminds me that if not for these guys generation, I couldn't collect or have anything I enjoy.

Crofts Cocoa

Here's a couple of wooden Croft's Cocoa signs made by the American Joxyl Company of New York in the early 1910's.
My understanding from researching the company is that one of the primary uses for these would be for display on trolley cars and trains of the day. |
