Here is the Sandy Amoros. These are likely produced in late 1951 or early 1952 based on the 1951 stats on the back of the premium. Making the Sandy Amoros one his earliest issues.

Leon, that collection of cards with comic drawings of baseball plays is from the 40s, the collection is 100 cards, the board is the baseball field, and according to the cards a game between two teams was developing, I show you the propaganda poster for the series, some cards and the metal mold to print the terrain, everything is very rare, perhaps unique pieces,

Always love the ancillary pieces that go with the cards. Thanks again for sharing!

Great photo of Luis Tiant and Tom Richardson with Syd Pollock's Cuban House of David Team. This photo is from 1931, which was deep into the Great Depression. According to what I have read the Cuban House of David squad was the only Cuban team allowed to play in the U.S. that year. Below is a photo of Luis Tiant, from the same year, featured in the "The Lost Son of Havana" documentary.

Rolando, great photo of the young superstar. He shined so brightly in the Cuban and Negro Leagues. And how sad that he had such a tragic end to his life.

Almanaque Deportivo Magazine
3 Attachment(s)
The Almanaque Deportivo magazine was a Cuban sports magazine that in 1947 distributed cards in the pages within a number of issues. The uncut sheet above was one page found within the magazine. I have at one point or another owned a few of the magazines with the card sheets inside. The magazines I owned had a total of 32 cards in four per page, eight per sheet, configuration. Below is an example of one such magazine.

Rolando, very interesting. Baseball cards of Joe Cambria and Clark Griffith. The men responsible for signing hundreds of Cubans to play in organized baseball and eventually some to play with the Washington Senators and Minnesota Twins. I would love to see more scans from this album.

Rolando, this is amazing. For example the card of Justo Azpiazu is one that I did not know existed. I try to document cards of all Cuban born players. Justo Azpiazu was a player I believed had no cards issued for him. Now I know he has at least one. Thanks again for continuing to post cards from this set.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this thread. My interest is in baseball cards of players who were in the Negro Leagues, which directly overlaps with a lot of Cuban baseball cards. Quite a few posted here that I haven't seen elsewhere.

Thank you so much Rolando. Marrero was a legend. At one point he was the oldest living ballplayer. Finally passing at the age 102.

Rolando, what a great page. Two players that played in the Major Leagues: Enrique Gonzalez (1949) and Isidoro Leon (1945). Also two players that I did not know had baseball cards: Ramon Fernandez and Wilfredo Roca. With cards of the Team Trainer, Carlos Zarsa, and Team Masseuse, Julio Perez. Thank you for continuing to post pages from this great album.

Rolando, I had the opportunity to me Emilio Cabrera a little before his passing. I also met his daughter Barbara. Along with her husband Sam Zygner, she has authored a few books about baseball in Miami. I will reach out to her and send her the image of her father's card from this album. Thank you so much for doing this.

Rolando, Jim here. I was going to send this to you via PM but couldn't figure out how to attach a picture.
Seeking your opinion on identifying, or not, a couple of people in this vintage photo of the great Minnie Minoso. I can tell from the photo that the picture was taken at the airport in Havana, maybe from the 40s or early 50s. Minnie of course is holding the bat. There is some light writing on the back, but I can't make it out. Thanks in advance for your assistance. I think your thread is fantastic and very educational. |

Havana Cubans Album
Rolando, thank you so much for taking the time to post every page of the 1948 Havana Cubans album. This is truly a super rare and important album. I found so many players that have no other known baseball cards and some amazing cards of Cuban Major League players. You continue to expand our knowledge of Cuban baseball cards. I hope you can continue to post pages from some of the other Cuban albums. I would love to see the prior pages with cards 52 to 93 from the Ambrosia 1946 album.
